Elizabeth Dow is widely known for her textiles and hand painted wall coverings. Fifteen of her papers are in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian. Installations include Paul Simon, Harrison Ford, Bill Gates, Estee Lauder, Tiffany and Company, The Peninsula Hotel, and the Oval Office. Elizabeth Dow began as a minimal color field painter preferring paper to canvas. After working as a studio artist, her career path led her to the restoration of historic ceiling and wall paintings within Museum Houses throughout the country. She held a number of artist-in-residence positions including five years at Saks Fifth Avenue where she worked on commissioned artwork for their permanent collection. In 1992, Elizabeth created the Elizabeth Dow Mixed Media collection of wall coverings and textiles that are now sold in trade showrooms internationally.

Elizabeth maintains ties to the art community curating shows and working with schools and not-for-profit organizations developing educational programming. She has taught at both Pratt Institute and The Parson’s School in NY, and was the former director for the Applied Arts School in Amagansett, NY. Elizabeth has sponsored artists in residency programs and continues to provide workspace for artists. Dow’s paintings are visual snapshots of nature and reflection that explore the delicate balance of color, motion, and surface. Her paintings are in numerous corporate and private collections worldwide. Elizabeth is a permanent resident of East Hampton where she works and lives.

Balanced in your efforts, you taste the riches that life has to offer. The feeling of calmness and the fulfillment that you seek can be yours when you let go of what was and are present to what is. Releasing any attachment to the past, the future or even the outcome of your work, you find rejuvenation..

When you focus on your current sitiuation, you can begin to comprehend what you need to cultivate to stay safe and strong. Rest easy in the shelter of the home that you have created.
