Welcome to your summer issue of Hoburne Life and what a summer we are having!

At Hoburne, we have been working super hard to bring you our brand-new summer issue of our owner’s magazine. This bumper summer issue is packed filled with park updates and news, a summer recipe, plus our recommendation for summer events in the local area to enjoy over the next few months.

We love this time of year as we build up to the peak season. The park looks beautiful, thanks to our hard-working team, we have lots of owners and holidaymakers with us, and it’s fantastic seeing so many of you around the park or enjoying your holiday homes with family.

 Launch of new menu

Hopefully you have all had the opportunity to experience our new menu. It has become increasingly important that we source our food products responsibly, using as much local fresh produce as possible and stepping away from using processed / manufactured foods.

We wanted to create an eclectic style menu with plenty of options for vegans, vegetarians, and the more health conscious. Every four months, the menu will change to reflect the seasons and to make the best use of local seasonal produce.

 Park speed limit

Please watch your speed on the park and always adhere to the limit. In these summer months, the park will begin to get busy, and the safety of all pedestrians is paramount.

 Leisure passes

As we head into the peak season, we would like to kindly remind owners who privately let that leisure passes are mandatory and so please ensure to provide your guests with this information. Guest registration forms will be required for each booking with a minimum notice of 48 hours.

Serves 4

Prep time – 10 minutes

Cook time – 25 minutes

Ch��ke� & Chorizo Jambalaya

Ingredients:

250g diced chicken breast

125g sliced chorizo

1 clove of garlic, finely chopped

25g Harissa paste

15g Jerk seasoning

25ml olive oil

Method:

1 red onion, finely chopped

1 red pepper, chopped

250g easy cook long grain rice

350ml chicken stock

1 tsp thyme, dried

400g tomatoes, chopped

1. Dice the chicken breast into small chunks, roughly 2cm.

2. Finely slice the chorizo.

3. Finely chop the red onion, pepper and clove of garlic.

4. In a saucepan, add a drizzle of olive oil, on a low heat, lightly pan fry the chorizo, onion, pepper, and garlic for five minutes.

5. Turn up to a medium heat and add the diced chicken to the saucepan.

6. Once you have added the chicken, stir in the Harissa paste and Jerk seasoning.

7. Brown everything off for five minutes and while the mixture cooks, wash the rice.

8. After five minutes, add the long grain rice to the pan.

9. Stir in the chopped tomatoes, chicken stock and thyme.

10. Mix everything together, turn the heat down to low and cover with a lid and let it cook slowly for 15 minutes.

11. When ready, the rice should have absorbed most of the liquid and have a slight el dente crunch to it.

12. To serve, arrange in a bowl.

USER-PLUS New starters

Meet your newest Hoburne Hosts, Emily and Luke!

Emily is very excited to have joined the entertainment team here at Bashley, she has previously worked at several different holiday parks, including Pontins. Emily is a massive animal lover, a big fan of musicals, and she can’t wait to meet you all! This is Luke's first job in entertainment and he is very excited to be joining the Bashley team! He is a big fan of sports and loves to sing, he can't wait to meet you all and is ready to have a fantastic summer!

Chad joined our maintenance team in March. Chad joins us from LHR Cars & Qdell Courier Ltd based at Heathrow, where he was a maintenance technician and operations manager.

Sean has joined as our new ownership advisor. Sean has worked on holiday parks since he was 18 years old. He loves his job almost as much as he loves golf! He looks forward to getting to know you all.

We welcome Jordan to the team to the Beauty h team. Jordan has been a therapist for over a year joining us from an independent salon. Her favourite treatment is massage, and she enjoys creating new nail art patterns.

Some of you may have noticed that we have welcomed back Zoe. Zoe was previously our Activities Manager but has returned as our new Sales Advisor.

Zoe is keen to meet with many owners as possible, so please pop in or give her a wave.

Most of you will know Bryony who has moved over to our reception team from our F&B department. Bryony has also been a part of

the housekeeping team, so she knows the park very well.

And finally, we have welcomed three new members to our reception team, Rosy, Andrea, and Holly.

With lots of new starters on the park, please make them feel welcome and say hello if you see them.

 Happy retirement

After 27 years working on Bashley’s reception, Linda Harris has retired.

We wish to thank Linda for her devotion to Hoburne and hope she has a welldeserved retirement!

We have also said goodbye to Eddie Rice from our grounds team. Eddie retires after five years of working at the park.

�� Exbury Garden Visit

We had a fabulous time at Exbury Gardens on Saturday 20th May for our owners’ event and the sun shined all day.

The next owners’ events will be Party in the Park on Saturday 1st July and the owners’ exclusive Gin and Fizz tasting on Saturday 15th July. We hope to see you all there.

If you would like to be involved in our next owners’ events, you can collect the 2023 dates from the ownership office.

 Outdoor pool

Our outdoor pool is now open for the summer season, please ensure you’re aware of the pool opening times.

GAMEPAD New arcade machines

After finalising a deal with world-renowned company Bandai Namco, we are thrilled to announce that we have successfully upgraded several arcade machines in the complex. With updated games and more interactive fun, there is plenty to enjoy with family and friends.

PERSON-BURST New leisure activities

Calling all young adventurers and budding Robin Hoods, the leisure team has some new activity offerings starting this year. We are excited for you to join us in our new Junior Archery and Nerf Challenge. Age restrictions apply, book at Reception to secure your spot.

�� Electric Scooters

Following a recent incident, we would like to remind all owners that in accordance with Park Rules, only electric scooters used to support a disability are permitted on the Park. Electric scooters used for any other purpose are not permitted on the holiday park. Thank you for your co-operation in this matter.

�� Main car park

Our main car park will be busy throughout the summer months. We encourage all owners to the leisure facilities and clubhouse by foot and leave your cars at your holiday homes where possible. If you are using the disabled bays, please have your badges visible in your vehicles.

RSS Wi-Fi

The Wi-Fi installation is now complete across the whole park. If you haven’t collected your password, please come to reception.

Enjoy new shows this summer with our Hoburne Hosts:

Ministry of Hoburne: Get transported back to the nineties and noughties with this upbeat, feel-good celebration of club classics performed by your Hoburne Hosts.

On The Waves, A Pirate Panto: This family panto performed early in the evenings will take you to The Isle Of Waves, where Captain Hoburne’s crew have become stranded, help them find the treasure while having fun along the way!

A Peace Of The 60s: Step into the swinging sixties with your Hoburne Hosts, get ready with those groovy moves as we take you through some of the best of the best from Motown to Jersey Boys and more sixties classics!

Royals: Two of your Hoburne Hosts perform this duo show celebrating what we would class as some of the Royals of music.

Waterloo: Your Hoburne Hosts take to the stage to celebrate the music of Abba, with all the classics including Super Trouper, Mamma Mia and more!

�� Dogs on leads

We would like to remind owners and their guests that all dogs on the park should always be under their owners’ control and on a lead. Dogs can be let off the lead in the fenced and gated exercise area only but must still be under control.

DUMBBELL Fitness suite refurbishment

We are thrilled to announce the exciting transformation of our fitness suite here at Hoburne Bashley. In our constant endeavour to provide the best experience for our valued owners, guests, and members, we have recently undergone an extensive refurbishment to revamp our fitness suite. We have invested in state-of-the-art machines, upgraded the flooring, and enhanced the overall aesthetics to create a rejuvenating and inspiring space for your workouts.

HAND-HOLDING-HEART Memorial bench unveiled for John Burry

A memorial bench has been unveiled in tribute to the former chair of the Hoburne Group, John Burry, who sadly passed away in December 2019. The oak bench takes pride of place in the woodland and was handcrafted using an oak tree felled as part of the park’s long-term woodland management plan.

a. Three years. One year of volunteering and the remaining two years through the apprenticeship scheme.

2. What has been your biggest achievement since working at Hoburne?

a. My biggest achievement for me personally was being nominated for Apprentice of the Year at the New Forest Business Partnership 2022 awards.

3. Tell us an interesting fact about yourself.

a. I play county level cricket for Hampshire.

4. When you’re not working, what do you like to do in your spare time?

a. Go for walks, watch sports, and play cricket.

a. Since March this year.

a. Yes, we had one 30 years ago at Hoburne Naish.

3. Why did you pick Hoburne Bashley?

a. We loved the location. As we already live by the sea, we wanted the countryside.

4. What’s your favourite thing to do whilst staying at your holiday home?

a. Relaxing, it’s very quiet there, and enjoying the local restaurants. We recommend The Oaks in Highcliffe and The Jetty in Christchurch.

5. What do you love most about being a holiday homeowner?

a. Getting away from our home, it’s nice to have a change.
