From our Associate Pastor of Music and Discipleship I was reading in 2 Corinthians recently where Paul writes, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. He comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any kind of affliction, through the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” (2 Cor. 1:34) In this passage Paul is reminding us that all of our comfort comes from Jesus and that the comfort we get from Him needs to spill over into the lives of those with whom we come into contact. As I think about what the month of November means to me, I’m reminded that we are to be thankful for God’s blessings in our own lives. We are also to be thankful for the affliction we face. It is hard to be thankful for the trials we face, but James reminds us to “count it all joy when we face them.” (James 1:2, paraphrased) As we have an opportunity to focus on being thankful in November, let us be reminded that we need to show our thankfulness by sharing our stories with others and providing comfort where we can. Why? Because God has comforted us and wants us to comfort others. I am so thankful to be a part of Hillview Baptist Church. November 1st marks one year since my family joined you on our journey together. I am incredibly blessed to be a part of a loving and growing church. We consider you all family, and we are looking forward to the future with anticipation of the great and marvelous things that God will do if we but let Him lead us. Thank you for your dedication to Him, and thank you for being a blessing to us!

1. Our newest facility, the 1910 Bldg is currently being renovated for office and SS space. Our Building and Grounds Committee have done a great job maximizing the use of the entire campus. This expansion will allow us to better minister to the youngest as well as our senior adults. Our overall SS will be able to grow and more effectively move ahead. There is a spirit of excitement and expectation in our church family as we see the Hand of the Lord moving among us. We praise His Name and give Him all the glory. 2. I want us to consider and begin to pray for the Mission Field all around us here at HBC. The lostness percentage according to South Carolina Baptist Convention is 64-71% for South Carolina general population. The Valley area, at our front porch, is 81%. If this number is anywhere close to the being valid, which it probably is, then 8 of every 10 people around us are lost with the Lord Jesus. We cannot accept this without intentionally taking Jesus to them. I have begun to network with some of the young pastors in our area, and I believe God wants HBC to be a major player in taking Jesus to our lost community. Please pray for that to become a reality for us at HBC. We are currently teaching a model for sharing our faith during the Sunday night hour. Please pray that we will equip ourselves to share Jesus. Come join us! Suzanne and I love and appreciate you. We are most privileged and honored to serve at HBC.
