Week of Prayer April 14 –21 Church Goal - $5,000 The Children’s Wing “Facelift”

Be sure to check it out! The children are so excited that they are finding “reasons” to be in the hallways.

From our Associate Pastor of Music and Discipleship In the forward to his musical, Song of the Shadows, Joseph Martin writes, “The earthly life of Christ began in shadows. By the flickering of a candle flame in a rugged stable, the Light of the World delivered himself into our darkness. In the shadows of ancient temples, we see him preaching “let there be light,” and hope began to live where once only despair and night had ruled. IN the shadows of an upper room, we see him experiencing betrayal, but teaching the world about forgiveness and servanthood. In the midnight of Gethsemane, we see Christ himself, struggling as we do with the lengthening shadows of life, and still he teaches us about obedience and sacrifice. Past Pilate’s court we see Jesus walk through the valley of the shadow of death as he embraces the cross. Yet it is the silhouette of that same cross which, cast onto the sands of time, offers rest and shelter for those who are weary from the journey. In that sacred shadow, we discover our faith. It is there we develop our night vision, trusting God to be our guide. Shall we walk together for awhile in the shadow of the cross? It will not be an easy sojourn, but we will not walk alone. As we confront the “dark night of the soul,” we can always find comfort in this: That wherever there are shadows, there is also light.” - Join us for a walk through the last days of Christ as we remember his death on Good Friday, April 19, 6:30pm. This will be an unforgettable service together.

From our Children/Youth Director We are excited to share that the hallway renovation project has been completed and without a doubt the "WOW Factor" is amazing. Please take a minute and tour the hall and see the faithfulness of our Hillview family on full display. Without your support this would not have been possible and we extend a big "THANK YOU." We have a community wide Easter program planned the weekend of April 19, 20, 21 and something special for the kids with an egg hunt and cook out on April 20. Egg Hunt is for babies to 5th grade. Our youth meet every Wednesday night in Building 1910 for food, fellowship, the Gospel and games. Children meet on Wednesday nights for Children In Action in Kidzview. Please spread the word we have something for all ages on the "Hill." Blessings, Pastor Mike & Felicia

April 2019 | Vol 6 Issue 4 Dear Hillview Church Family, We have added three new deacons to serve our church over the last several weeks. They are Stan Harmon, Gerry Kelly, and Steve Carter. There are presently 14 families assigned to each of our seven deacons. Please lift your Deacon Family Ministry to the Lord as you pray. I thank God for these men and for the others that will be serving in the near future. God has certainly blessed Hillview with many candidates to serve our ever growing church body. We have approximately 70 people actively participating in our Discipleship Ministry. These gender specific D Groups are reading and journaling daily, and weekly memorizing God’s Word. They meet weekly, pray for one another, and hold each other accountable. Our anchor verses for this Biblical Mandate is: Matthew 28:19–20 (NASB95) 19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” 2 Timothy 2:2 (NASB95) 2 The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.

About four years ago, I was clearly led of the Lord to make disciples, who would in turn make other disciples. I had to repent because most of my ministry I had not intentionally “made disciples.” It was out my neediness and obedience to His Word that I came to this conclusion. With the Lord’s help and leading, I pray I will be able to do this until He takes me home. If you feel led to become part of a D Group, please let me know. What is a Disciple? Intentionally equipping believers with the Word of God through accountable relationships empowered by the Holy Spirit in order to replicate faithful followers of Christ. May the Lord bless and keep you! Pastor Donald Phil 1:6
