Memorable Moments
High School Musical!
The High School of Glasgow was transformed into East High in New Mexico for ‘High School Musical’, Disney’s smash-hit from the noughties.
Jock Troy Bolton, played by Fergus M (S6) and book-smart
Gabriella Montez played Maya K M (S5) couldn’t be more different, yet their love for singing and performing unites them, breaking stereotypes and causing chaos amongst their peers.
An all star cast sang and danced their hearts out to the catchy musical numbers, providing plenty of laughs along the way!
Proving we really are ‘all in this together’, the four night run was a triumph thanks to the entire cast, crew and musicians who worked tirelessly all term to bring this show to sell out audiences each night.

Sharing the Learning
In November, J6 and J4 pupils showcased their knowledge to their families at our ‘Sharing the Learning’ events.
The J6 ‘Apprentice’ Final saw children presenting their pitches on how the playground experience could be transformed. Well done to the winning team, Stay Safe Squad (pictured right), made up of Skye A, Joel B, Ellie H and Cameron M, for delivering an excellent pitch with lots of ideas!
Meanwhile, J4 became the experts during their Pop-up Science Fair, guiding parents and family members through various workshops which showcased all they have learnt about the human body, including the skeletal system, the digestive system, germs and diseases, and the circulatory system.
Fabulous Fundraising for Glasgow Children’s Hospital
Junior 6 pupil Teddy R and a number of his friends took part in the Glasgow Children’s Hospital sponsored 10km walk in September.
Their efforts helped to raise the incredible sum of £5,831.75 for the charity!
This also took Teddy’s personal fundraising efforts to over £6,000 for the charity that has helped him so much over the last few years.
Road Race Champions!
A team of Junior 6 pupils impressively took home the gold at the Scottish Schools’ Road Race on Wednesday 2nd October.
While there were silver and bronze medals won by our S3/S4 Boys’, Senior Boys’ and Senior Girls’ sides, alongside individual silver and bronze medals for James A and Amy T (both S5) respectively, it was our youngest athletes who excelled, taking home the trophy! Congratulations to the Junior 6 team – Skye A, Phoebe B, Ella M, Katie P, Susanna R and Niamh R – Scottish Schools’ Road Race champions for 2024.
Clyde House Fundraising Week
The first of our House fundraising weeks for session 2024-25 saw Clyde House help to raise £3,000 for DEBRA, a charity supporting those affected by Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB).
Senior pupils enjoyed an unforgettable week that included the Clyde Carnival, a spooky haunted house in the Pavilion and, of course, the ever-popular cake and candy stall – a fundraising week classic! What a way to bring the first part of the Autumn Term to a close!

900th Anniversary Expressive Arts Exhibition
The 900th anniversary celebrations continued at HSOG with the Art, HFT and Music Departments all coming together for our Expressive Arts Exhibition, held over two days in early October.
The exhibition showcased work of pupils from Junior 1 all the way up to Senior 6, while guests enjoyed the chance to sample delicious canapés created by some of our talented young chefs, all set to the sound of incredible live performances by our young musicians. All-in-all, a memorable event for those in attendance at Old Anniesland.

Reading Schools Gold Award
In the previous issue of Memorable Moments, we touched upon the fact that the High School became the first independent school in the country to achieve a Reading Schools Gold accreditation and the first secondary school in Glasgow of any kind to achieve Gold.
We are delighted to now bring you a little more detail on this exciting achievement that marks our journey to building a successful and sustainable reading culture within our school and local community. Click here to read all about it!
And Finally...
Senior School pupils and staff members headed to Abu Dhabi and Dubai for a Business Studies and Economics trip during the October break.
Whilst there, the party enjoyed the chance to learn more about Islam and Emirati culture and traditions, visit Ferrari World, take in some camel racing and experience the sand dunes of the Lahbab desert.
A truly unforgettable experience!
