HSOG Gala Homecoming Dinner

The School began a year of celebration to mark 900 years with a Gala Homecoming Dinner at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in January.

450 guests helped us start the festivities, with more than £45,000 raised on the night for the 900 Campaign.

This was the first of a number of events to mark 900 years of HSOG. Click below (or on any of the images) to read more about the night, to find out about our 900 Campaign and how to donate!

MADRID

Senior Pupils Euro Travels!

The February break saw a number of Senior School pupils traverse Europe on trips to Iceland, Madrid and Berlin.

From taking in the breathtaking natural beauty of ‘The Land of Fire and Ice’ and sampling virtual bullfighting in Madrid’s historic Las Ventas Bullring, to exploring the poignant historical sights of Berlin, pupils enjoyed unforgettable excursions that truly exemplified the Joy of Learning.

J5 Visit Sikh Temple

Junior 5 pupils visited the Gurdwara Singh Sabha in Glasgow last month, helping to add colour to their RME topic on Sikhism.

Following a recent visit to the Senior School to speak at morning assembly, Junior School parent, Mrs Gursinder Khaira Bhandal, invited Junior School pupils to learn all about Sikhism during a memorable tour of the Gurdwara. They were even invited to ‘Langar’, a communal meal shared by all visitors, provided for by members of the Gurdwara and prepared by members of the community.

National Sporting Stars

1st XV Captain, Harry (S6) (pictured, right), scored tries in each leg and kicked 5 out of 8 conversion in the deciding match as Glasgow Warriors U18s won the 1872 Cup against Edinburgh Rugby. He was also selected for the U18 Scotland squad to train throughout February and March ahead of the final squad announcement for the U18 Six Nations Festival in Parma, Italy. Many congratulations should also go to HSOG Flyhalf / Inside Centre, Chris (S6), who will join the Royals at Queens University of Charlotte, North Carolina this autumn to compete in Rugby East, one of the toughest college competitions in the US.

Elsewhere, there was also sporting success for recent High School Leavers - congratulations to Ibrahim (Class of 2023) who competed for Scotland at the U19 Cricket World Cup in South Africa in January, and to Zara (Class of 2022) who was selected for the Scotland Women’s National Hockey Team for their three-match test series in Spain in February.
