High School FPs do get around. Sam Paterson (class of 1962) and wife Anne (1966) were holidaying in Antigua this October, when, by chance, they bumped into Murray Piggott (1981), who has recently moved to the Caribbean island. Ideas for a cricket tour, anyone…? Jonny Petrie (class of 1994) has been appointed the new Managing Director of Edinburgh Rugby. The former Scotland Captain is settling in well, and is delighted to be leading a club with such a strong history towards an exciting future. Neil Stevenson (class of 1996) has been appointed Chief Executive of the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission. He continues to credit his time at the High School under the mentorship of debating doyenne Irene McGrath as a key factor in his career success. Ken Murray (class of 1977) conquered the last of his Munros in August 2015, to become Compleater number 5768. He joins the ranks of former School Director J.S. Anderson (Compleater number 19 in 1953), and Dr. David Boggon (class of 1981, Compleater 5674 in 2014). Have any other High School FPs out there completed the round? Warmest congratulations to Graeme Hunter (class of 1987 and son of James Hunter, retired head of the Maths department), who married Miss Claire Sewter (Surbiton, Surrey) at Sandhurst Church in Gloucestershire on Saturday 29 August 2015. Kenny Ross (class of 1991) has released a new book entitled Dundee Goalkeeping Greats, which tells the story of Dundee FC goalkeepers from 1893 to the present day. Kenny is the official Dundee FC Historian, and teaches History at a secondary school in Newcastle after being greatly influenced by nowretired Head of History Mr. Wilson.

Elizabeth Gammie (class of 1980) was appointed Head of Aberdeen Business School at The Robert Gordon University on 1 October 2016. Elizabeth left HSD in 1979 and studied Business at The Robert Gordon University, before training as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst and Whinney. She then took up an academic post with RGU in 1989, where she undertook a PhD and was appointed Professor of Accounting in 2000. Susan Graham, who left the School in June 2013, has been awarded a Blue in Women’s Hockey from Edinburgh University, where she is studying Geography. She is a member of the University’s 1st team, who continue to build on their successes over recent years. Susan has been elected Club Captain of Edinburgh University Women’s Hockey Club for the coming season.

Scottish Nursery Rhymes is a newly published collection selected and edited by the late parents of Dian Montgomerie Elvin (class of 1952), William and Norah Montgomerie. This new title is a companion volume to their earlier collection The Folk Tales of Scotland. Dian has also recently contributed to a series of film clips on behalf of The Friends of William Soutar, as Dian remembers the poet from childhood, being a good friend of her parents. Allen WJR Smith (class of 1998) and wife Tanya Stefanova Smith would like to announce the birth of their son, Michael Stefan Walter Smith, on Monday 16 May 2016 at 8.04pm, weighing 3.32kg. Congratulations all!

Dom Wedderburn and Mike Donald, fellow Lindorians (class of 1991), endured a brutal 3-hour slog round the Reebok Spartan Challenge Scotland near Edinburgh this summer. The next generation, current pupils Maya and John (pictured right), also took part – coming 4th and 3rd in their age groups respectively.
