Take Your Seats

Here in The Office of Development we run an annual fundraising telephone campaign in support of Campaign 2015 – 2020. This is staffed by our extremely talented Interns (see p.2). One of last year’s star callers, current F6 pupil

enjoy speaking to them during this year’s telephone

Steven Roy, shares with us his experiences of fundraising for the new centre.

The Internship was an entirely new environment for me, with high demands for skills that previously I had never needed to use. It has been an extraordinarily rewarding experience working in an office with personalities that treated me like a colleague and not a school pupil. The main source of nerves was the 2016 Telephone Fundraising Campaign – phoning strangers up and holding a conversation with them seemed daunting at first. However, after getting started and hearing the in-depth memories that the High School of Dundee had imparted upon so many people, it became significantly easier to just relax into the chair and speak because there was always that common thread – the camaraderie that the School seems to invoke. There wasn’t a single person I spoke to that didn’t have any memories to share about their schooling days and I feel very privileged that they chose to share those memories with me.

An Internship in The Office of Development is unrivalled in terms of the people you meet and the things you accomplish; I wish the best of luck to this year’s new Interns, and I hope our former pupils make it not only a pleasure to be at work but who also

campaign.

During the telephone campaign our Interns ask if recipients would like to take part in the Take Your Seats initiative to commemorate their relationship with the School. We extend our thanks to all those who have already done so.
