Eskom Holdings are giving all stakeholders notice that severe load shedding will start in Thaba Chweu Municipality on 23 January and it will continue indefinitely. The Thaba Chweu Municipality currently owes Eskom an amount of R5 606 636. According to Eskom, Thaba Chweu is in breach of its payment obligations and places Eskom’s continued electricity supply in jeopardy. Eskom said that it is exercising its right to disconnect the supply of electricity as per the Electricity Regulations Act 4 of 2006. As of date the following times have been announced. Week 1 (23 January 2020 to 30 January 2020): Monday to Friday 06:00 to 09:00 and 17:00 to 20:30; Saturday and Sunday 08:30 - 12:00 and 15: 00 till 19:00 In Week 2 (31 January 2020 until breach is remedied) from 06:00 till 20:00 Monday to Friday and from 06:00 till 20:00 Saturday and Sunday. The following towns / municipal areas shall be affected by the contemplated interruption and disconnection, except those directly supplied by Eskom: Thaba Chweu Local Municipality, Graskop Town and Duma Substation. The closing date for public representations, submissions, comments and/ or requests for further information will end on 23 December 2019. (See the notice on page 10).

DIE Nederduits Gereformeerde Gemeente Lydenburg-Suid het bome geplant as deel van hul vieringe van hul groot 50ste bestaansjaar. ’n Nuwe gedenkteken is ook ingewy. Verskeie oudlidmate en predikante asook vriende en familie het saam gekuier Sondag. Die kerk is 50 jaar gelede op 15 November 1969 tot 'n nuwe gemeente, Lydenburg-Suid, in die lewe geroep. Op daardie stadium was eredienste gehou in die skoolsaal van die Laerskool Lydenburg aangesien 'n
kerkgebou vir die nuwe gemeente nog nie bestaan het nie. Ds. A.H. Louw word as eerste leraar ontvang. Die nuwe kerkgebou se hoeksteenlegging vind plaas op 6 Oktober 1973. Kort daarna op 27 November word die eerste nagmaal in die nuwe kerkgebou bedien. Nadat Ds. Louw 'n beroep na die N.G. Gemeente te Viljoenskroon aanvaar het, word hy op 6 Februarie 1977 deur Ds. P.L. Bezuidenhout opgevolg. Na afsterwe van Ds. Bezuidenhout, wie vir 28 jaar toegewyd sy lewe gewy het aan Lydenburg-Suid gemeente, word hy die volgende jaar deur Ds. Manie Strydom opgevolg. Die dorp beleef 'n bloeitydperk en lidmaat getalle groei.
In Mei 2007 word 'n tweede leraarspos goedgekeur en word Ds. Benja Ferreira beroep vir 'n kontrak periode van drie jaar. Ds. Strydom word beroep na Kuilsrivier Moedergemeente en Ds. Ferreira word deur die kerkraad onder voorsitterskap van Mnr Leon de Jager, as permanente leraar aangestel vanaf 1 Maart 2008. Ds. Anton Doyer se dienste word weereens gebruik as berader vir siekebesoek, huisbesoek en as prediker per geleentheid. Die huidige leraarspaar Di. DIE Lydenburg Mashishing Sakekamer (LMBC) het sy jaarlikse Gala-aand op Woensdag 13 November by Laske Nakke gehou. Die aand was ’n reuse sukses, met Charlene Coetzee van Terra Events wat as gasvrou opgetree het. Past. Andre Hanekom (Sekretaris LMBC) het die aand geopen en gaste verwelkom. Me Etli van der Merwe (Voorsitter LMBC) het terugvoer gegee oor verskeie projekte van die Sakekamer en het genoem dat die volgende projek van die LMBC die opknapping (vefraaiing) van die onderskeie ingange na die dorp sal insluit. Gerda Whitehorn (Bestuurslid LMBC) het daarna die pragtige nuwe sakegids vir 2019 / 2020 bekend gestel. Hierdie boek bevat al die kontak info van die meeste plaaslike besighede en sluit ook nuwe opgedateerde kaarte in. Dit word tans versprei. Gasspreker Conroy van der Westhuizen het ’n somber prentjie van die ekonomie geskets, na aanleiding van die sluiting van die staalaanleg by Saldanha. Hy het vertel dat dit nie net die aanleg se werkers is wat daaronder ly nie, maar al die besighede wat met hulle sake gedoen het, die skole, die plaaslike owerheid en gewone klein besighede wat bv. kos en brandstof verskaf. Hy het na aanleiding van die probleme in die FerroChroom bedryf Lydenburgers gewaarsku dat dieselfde lot ons kan tref, as ons nie voorbereid is nie. Hy het verwys na die sluiting van verskeie chroom smelters oor die land soos Machadodorp, Highveld Steel by Witbank en het gaste daarop gewys dat by die Lydenburg Smelter slegs drie uit die vier oonde nog bedryf word. Volgens hom lê die oplossings in ’n sterk en gediversifiseerde plaaslike ekonomie. Besighede wat bv. net met die smelters sake doen, moet diversifiseer en ook ander dienste in die plaaslike gemeenskappe aanbied. Hy het besonder klem gelê op die rol van en lidmaatskap aan sakekamers en die organisering van besighede onder sulke sakekamers, sodat besigheid met ’n al hoe sterker stem as een entiteit kan praat oor die ekonomie, met die regering en met plaaslike owerhede. Na ’n voortreflike ete is daar verskeie spesiale toekennings aan sekere besighede gedoen, vir die positiewe impak en beeld wat hulle op die dorp het. Here are a few fast facts from the eBook: Used or new? There are advantages to both new and used cars. For example - a new car comes with no prior history. You will be in full control of how well it’s driven and maintained. You will have options such as maintenance plans and warranties from the manufacturer – a definite plus for managing costs and risk. Used cars, on the other hand, already have a history. It helps a lot if the previous owner kept a detailed service history. Make sure you ask the seller about any issues with the car or if it has been in an accident. You should be able to tell from the state of the car whether it’s been well looked after or not. Choose a reputable dealership Buying through a reputable dealer, such as a dealership that is approved by WesBank, does come with peace of mind. Revealed at the 2019 SEMA show in Las Vegas, the one-off off-roading Frontier Desert Runner was created with help from the “extreme performance specialists” at MA Motorsports. The 4,0-litre V6 petrol engine (standard in the US) was ditched in favour of a 5,6-litre V8. The latter was given a “complete race-spec rebuild”, including the addition of a Garrett GTX3584RS turbocharger, custom intercooler and Jim Wolf Technology camshafts, pistons and valves. An MA Motorsports custom turbo header and exhaust system were also added, with the result being “600-plus hp [447-plus kW]” and 949 N.m. The V8 is matched to a sixspeed manual transmission with Jim Wolf Technology clutch and lightweight flywheel. The bakkie's suspension makeover, meanwhile, includes a BTF Fabrication longtravel front suspension kit, King Racing triple bypass front shocks and coil-overs, rear King Racing triple bypass shocks and Giant Motorsports Link Killer rear leaf springs. The Frontier Desert Runner rides on Fifteen52 TurboMac HD wheels wrapped in 37inch BFGoodrich Baja tyres. The shock hoops, engine cage and bed cage were fabricated by MA Motorsports. The company also installed Fiberworx Pre Runner fenders and fabricated new front and rear bumpers. A full package of off-road lighting from Rigid Industries and a body wrap by Speed Designs complete the exterior makeover. Inside, you’ll find what Nissan calls a “no-frills cockpit”, with a coated floor, MA Motorsports custom harness bar and Sparco harnesses. Hyundai Kona Rockstar MARKETED as a crossover, the standard Hyundai Kona isn't likely to venture too far off the beaten track. Rockstar Performance Garage has, however, taken the compact SUV to a completely new off-roading level. Set to take the stage at this year’s SEMA show, the custom Kona in Ultimate AWD is finished in a dark colour-scheme offset by striking gold 16-inch Motegi rally wheels. A set of 30-inch Mickey Thompson race-grooved tyres complete the look. The increased ride-height is provided by an upgraded King suspension, while a trio of Baja Design LED lamps installed on the grille offer a Dakar-inspired face. A Race Chip software upgrade, Magnaflow exhaust and K&N filters have been installed onto the Kona’s turbocharged 1,6-litre four-cylinder engine. Cabin updates include alligator skin seats and a Kicker audio system. This isn’t Rockstar’s first encounter with a Hyundai crossover. NISSAN is set to expand the new Micra range with a model that includes both a more powerful engine and sound system. The new Micra, which is based on the Renault Clio platform) has been on sale in SA for 18 months without making too much noise on the sales charts. Its sibling, the Clio continues to rake in the sales well into the twilight of its lifecycle (the new model will be here in 2020). Currently, there is only one engine output available - a 66 kW/140 Nm 3-cylinder petrol version with a minute 899cc. As of mid-November, there will be a new engine to choose from as well. A Nissan-built 1.0 DIG-T (turbopetrol) with 84 kW and 180 Nm of torque. This engine is available in overseas markets where it propels the Micra to 100 kph in 9.9 seconds and uses 5.0L/100 km on the combined cycle test. Nissan South Africa is not giving anything away just yet on the spec of the new-engined Micra apart from it will feature a Bose sound system. Its closest rival, therefore, is probably the VW Polo Beats, which also features a banging sound system. We should hear more details at the vehicle's local launch during November. cars.co.za
