Newsletter Highfields School Governing Board 2020-21 Highfields School is fortunate in the kinds of people who have volunteered to become governors, each bringing a variety of skills and experience to support the school. The composition of the governing board for 2020-21 is split as follows. Each governor serves a term of office of four years. In all types of schools governing boards should have a strong focus on three core strategic functions: ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction; holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its students, and the performance management of staff; and overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent. There is an expectation that on election you will be willing to: undertake appropriate induction training; prepare for and attend all meetings regularly; undertake further training to develop your skills.
