Technology + Collaboration

Our collaborative processes are supported by advanced technologies. All disciplines work in the same Revit models, updated in real time, thus allowing the entire team access to detailed project information at different stages before, during, and after construction.

We continue to use and expand on Autodesk BIM 360. The software drastically improves efficiency by allowing the client, project team and other stakeholders to work together on one model in the cloud. It reduces changes later in the project to coordinate and manage project data and designs.

More, Better, Quicker

HFA quickly and efficiently iterates through design changes and options through advanced techology in software and hardware. The client benefits due to frequent communication and difffering views. A collaborated multi-discipline BIM model enables swift moves from one type of visualization service to another while keeping the cost of services low.

HFA, BIM + Revit

Since 2007, HFA has been using Revit on projects. The multi-disciplinary staff at HFA is competent in Revit and training sessions and helpful tips are available to them each week to help refine their skills. This ensures that the teams at HFA will utilize Revit to produce models that are consistent in quality and accuracy. To continue to stay current, some staff members attend conferences such as Autodesk University to learn and apply the latest in the design and construction industry.

Clean Freak

Various Locations

Formerly known as True Blue Car Wash, this growing brand was acquired in 2022 by Alimentation Couche-Tard, the Canada-based parent company of Circle K. Now operating under the name Clean Freak, the car wash concept continues to expand across multiple U.S. markets with HFA as an active design partner, as well as Canada.

This  brand features 130 ft. express tunnel car washes and has seen rapid growth as it works toward a unified prototype and consistent brand identity. While early expansion focused on the DFW market, recent developments have extended to Texas, Minnesota, Florida, Arizona, and Nevada. As Clean Freak begins to focus on sites that also have a Circle K Convenience Store, HFA is helping refine and consolidate design elements from previous iterations, introducing cost-saving strategies and maintaining flexibility for regional adjustments.

Happy Dave’s Car Wash

Happy Dave’s is a one-of-a-kind convenience store designed for a 35-acre site in Midland, TX, and owned by Arrington Oil. Our Hospitality + Entertainment Team applied an end-user-focused design process—from concept through schematic design—to create a unique experience tailored to the community and setting.

This nontraditional c-store spans 60,000 square feet and includes standout features like a mezzanine level, a classic car display, a drive-in theatre, and other unexpected attractions that elevate the guest experience. A custom-designed car wash facility was also developed specifically for the Midland site, thoughtfully integrated to complement the architectural aesthetic of the c-store, resulting in a cohesive and visually engaging destination. Diamond Wash Auto Spa

Bentonville, AR

This 5,445 sq ft. car wash offers a 150 ft. long tunnel facility with free vacuum stalls and monthly membership access. The structure is a load-bearing CMU covered with brick, fiber cement wood-look planks, and fiber cement panels on approximately 2/3 of the façade. Large, punched openings of glass show the inner workings of the tunnel and let in natural light. The single slope overhanging roof and covered pay kiosks create an asymmetrical street elevation. Stripes Stores & Car Wash

Various Locations

HFA partnered with Stripes prior to its acquisition with 7 Eleven to develop a new prototype design, while simultaneously providing full services for their successful new store and remodel roll out program. HFA collaborated with design firm Chute Gerdeman to help the Stripes team redefine the way customers interacted with the Laredo Taco Company, taking it from a minor establishment hidden away from view to a destination within the c-store environment itself. HFA was also responsible for implementing a full project administration system to include all facets of a project from real estate investigation through construction, including real-time project tracking and documentation. The HFA team also provided a third-party vendor, Genesis Modular Carwash Building Systems, with the utilities needed to implement their prefabricated, modular carwash units onto the Stripes building sites.

Sam’s Club Car Wash

Various Locations

Sam’s Club Car Wash projects feature two touchless and frictionless bays. These projects utilized two different car wash equipment manufacturers, and the buildings consisted of CMU typically for the main structure. Depending on local jurisdictions, the exteriors potentially require a combination of exterior finishes, such as concrete panels for brick with approved color schemes and sign requirements. All of the car washes use water reclaim systems to cycle back into the equipment for reuse.

Pep Boys

Various Locations

HFA’s relationship with Pep Boys began in early 2024 as we were engaged to develop a new 6 bay prototype design. The first location being Tuscaloosa AL, which is scheduled to open in the fall of 2025. Since then, we have supported several different design initiatives, taking our project and diligence involvement nationwide, and even to existing locations in Puerto Rico, where we continue to explore new branding concepts as well as different tiers of remodel designs, based on varying performance and geographical metrics. Recently, our team’s focus has been on remodels, to demise and sub-lease additional square footage no longer needed to support the latest business model, thus offloading dark space from Pep Boy’s portfolio. Explorations of alternate prototype designs for new developments are also underway.

Sun Auto

Various Locations

Working with several different developers across the US, Sun Auto Tire & Service was finding that the buildings being turned over to them were not in line with their operational or spatial needs. To better attain consistency in their build to suit developments, in 2022 Sun Auto contracted HFA to design and develop four new prototypes; 2 varying sizes of 2 varying configurations. Having a prototype and a consistent team has raised the bar on turn-over expectations from their development partners. HFA maintains the prototypes, with any design or equipment changes updated and released on a quarterly basis, and ensures our site adapt projects maintain the overall Sun Auto brand consistency, no matter the sign on the building (Sun Auto operates under a multitude of different banners / brands!). Plaza Tire Services, Drivers Edge, Tire Outlet and Delta World Tires are among the building identities we have designed to date, across FL, TX, IN, AR, KY, OH, IL and LA.

Service King Collision Repair Center

HFA was proud to support Service King (now owned by Crash Champions Collision Repair Team) across multiple states including AR, AZ, CA, GA, IL, NC, TX, and WA.

In 2017, we developed a new, small format prototype, to meet their lean business model approach, and most recently, we designed the brand’s first attempted LEEDcertified location in San Antonio, TX. We also led all aspects of the development and maintenance of building prototypes for various format buildings, including tilt-wall and CMU structures, for new self-developments and build-to-suit sites.

Additionally, HFA directed the coordination of structural visits, noise studies, and preparation of as-builts and existing conditions for various remodels and refresh projects. We have also assisted in the creation of new interior palettes and designs, including custom millwork options for a new customer interface. AR, AZ, CA, GA, IL, NC, TX, WA
