C Checking and adjustment of the fan belt tension 1. Press the fan belt down in the middle, with a force of approx. 3.6 to 5.1 kgf (7.9 to 11.2 lbs). The belt tension is correct if it deflects about 7 to 9 mm (0.27 to 0.35 in.). If otherwise, loosen bolt and shift the alternator in the direction shown by the arrow. 2. Replace the fan belt if worn out, cracked or torn.
To avoid personal injury: A First stop the engine and remove the key. A After servicing, make sure to replace the belt cover in its original position. C Checking and adjustment of the air-conditioner belt tension 1. Press the air-conditioner belt down in the middle, with a force of approx. 6 to 7 kgf (13.2 to 15.4 lbs). The belt tension is correct if it deflects about 12 to 15 mm (0.47 to 0.59 in.). If otherwise, loosen the nut (5) and tighten the bolt (6) ,then shift the tension pulley in the direction shown by the arrow. 2. Replace the air-conditioner belt if worn out, cracked or torn.

A If the engine is run with a loose fan belt, the belt could slip and cause overheating of the engine. Check fan belt tension regularly. A If the engine is run with a loose fan belt, the belt could slip and cause insufficient battery charging. Check fan belt tension regularly.
