Leaving the Gate End

When SRB is operating and the shearer is in the gate end preparing to cut to the other gate, there is an area designated to allow the shearer to move back and forth to cleanup without causing any shields to be triggered to move. The size of this cleanup area is set by SRB parameters “HG Cleanup Area” and “TG Cleanup Area”.

Parameters “HG Cleanup Area” “TG Cleanup Area”

When the SRB shearer position moves out of this area at the endgate the shields will start to move. Only shields that are out of the shearer safety zone will be triggered. It is important to make sure that all persons are out of the endgate area when leaving the cleanup area with the SRB position. In the Manual SRB mode, when the operator moves the position out of the cleanup area all shields will be triggered that are separated from the operator by a distance set by the SRB parameter “Manual Safety Zone”. 1. Below is an example of the HG cleanup area set to 10 and the Auto HG and TG Safety Zones set to 5. When the position gets to 11, shields 1 through 5 are out of the safety zone and will begin to advance. Because adjacent shields are not allowed to be off the roof at the same time, shields 1 through 5 will not all advance at the same time. Instead, alternate shields will advance simultaneously, followed by the remaining shields.
