HYDRAULIC SYSTEM OIL (Replacement)

DANGER

Do not run the engine in closed spaces without proper ventilation and/or an adequate system capable of removing noxious exhaust gases.

• Never use gasoline, solvents or other flammable fluids to clean parts. Use only proprietary certified solvents which are nonflammable and non-toxic. • Hydraulic system components and hoses can reach very high temperatures during operation.

Shut-off the machine and wait until it has cooled down before starting inspection or maintenance. • Before moving off or operating the attachments, ensure that nobody is within the machine operating range. Before getting on, walk around the machine to inspect it.

Sound the horn. • Never leave the machine unattended with the engine running • Never operate the machine from any position other than from the driver’s seat.

Under all circumstances keep all parts of your body inside the operator’s compartment to minimise the risk of exposure to external dangers. • Do not work near or under machine attachment if not adequately supported or locked. • Fluid under pressure.

Always lower the hydraulic attachment to the ground.

Stop the engine, press the pressure discharge button located on the hydraulic reservoir prior to starting any maintenance work.

WARNING

• Park the machine on a level surface and turn the upperstructure 90° to obtain easy access.

• Fully retract the dipper cylinder and fully extend bucket cylinder.

• Lower the bucket to the ground.

• Switch off the auto-idle, fully turn the engine speed manual control anti-clockwise, stop the engine, remove the starter key and move the safety lever into the locked position (LOCK).

Wait until the machine is cold.

• Apply the maintenance in progress card as shown on chapter “SAFETY SIGNS” to the safety lever.

Oil discharge

• Clean the hydraulic oil reservoir upper side to prevent dirt contaminating in the hydraulic system.

• Loosen filter (1) to drain pressure inside the reservoir.

• Remove filter (1).

• Remove plug (2).

• Remove the lower cover under oil reservoir.

• Syphon the oil through the filling plug where filter (1) is seated using a suitable pump.

• Remove plug (3) so that the remaining oil can be drained into a container.

Cleaning and replacement

• In case of filter replacement:

• Replace hydraulic reservoir oil filter as detailed in "MAINTENANCE AFTER 500 HOURS OF

OPERATION”, paragraph “HYDRAULIC SYSTEM

RETURN OIL FILTER” .

• Clean, install and tighten plug (3).

• Reinstall the cover under the reservoir. • Pour oil of the type, grade and quantity specified (see FUEL AND LUBRICANT FILLING CHART on page 201) through the hole of plug (2) until oil level is between the MIN and MAX marks on the sight glass. • Install plug (2).

IMPORTANT: Should the hydraulic pump remain without oil, it would be damaged in a few seconds after engine start-up.

• Check the sight glass on the hydraulic oil reservoir.

Should it be necessary to add more hydraulic oil, remove cover (2) and top up.

Handle and dispose of hydraulic oil and filters according to current regulations. Use only authorised disposal procedure. If in doubt, contact authorities concerned.

WARNING

Do not work under or near attachment articulations or other machine parts, unless they are properly supported and blocked.

NOTE: The operation requires the intervention of at least two operators.

With engine idling and the machine stopped, one operator loosens bleeding screw (1), whilst the other operator pushes the brake control pedal. Tighten the bleeding screw before releasing the pedal. Repeat, if necessary, the operation until all the air is bled from the system. Bleed front axle brake oil circuit in the same way with bleed screw (2). Place the machine on a flat surface with bucket firmly on the ground, stop the engine, and, if necessary, top-up oil level.
