WARNING: Before you service a battery, always wear face protection, protective gloves and protective clothing. Battery acid or battery explosion can cause serious injuries.

WARNING: Battery acid causes severe burns. Batteries contain sulfuric acid. Avoid contact with skin, eyes or clothing. Antidote - EXTERNAL: flush with water. INTERNAL: drink large quantities of water or milk. Follow with milk of magnesia, beaten egg or vegetable oil. Call physician immediately. EYES: flush with water for 15 minutes and get prompt medical attention.

WARNING: Sparks or flame can cause hydrogen gas in a battery to explode. To prevent an explosion, do the following: 1.When you disconnect the battery cables, always disconnect the negative (-) battery cable first. 2.When you connect the battery cables, always connect the negative (-) cable last. 3.Do not short circuit the battery posts with metal items. 4.Do not weld, grind, or smoke near a battery.

WARNING: When the battery electrolyte is frozen, the battery can explode if, (1) you try to charge the battery, or (2) you try to jump start and run the engine. To prevent the battery electrolyte from freezing, try to keep the battery at full charge. If you do not follow these instructions, you or others in the area can be injured.

WARNING: Before working on any part of the electrical system, disconnect the battery ground cable. Do not connect cable until all electrical work has been completed. This will prevent shorts or electrical shocks.

NOTE: The electrical system in this machine is 12 volts. Do not run the engine with the battery cables disconnected or with the alternator wires disconnected.

Battery Fluid Level

Check the fluid level every 250 hours of operation. If the fluid level is low, add clean or distilled water to each cell until the fluid level is at the split ring at the bottom of each cell opening.

IMPORTANT: If the temperature is 0° C (32° F) or below and you have added water to the battery, do the following: Connect a battery charger to the battery or run the engine for approximately two hours. This procedure is necessary to mix the water with the electrolyte.

Cleaning the Battery

Check the battery every 250 hours for dirt, corrosion and damage. Dirt, mixed with electrolyte or moisture on the top of the battery, can cause a discharged condition in the battery. Use one of the following methods to clean the battery. 1.Use Case Battery Saver, part number M20376. Follow the instructions on the container. This cleaner does not need water. 2.Use baking soda or ammonia and flush the outside of the battery with water. If you do not have Case

Battery Saver, use other special cleaners to prevent corrosion on the battery terminals. 3.Spray the battery terminals with battery terminal protector. Do not use grease.
