New Greater Texas Lodge elects officers SAN ANTONIO – The first Zoom meeting of the new virtual Greater Texas Lodge was held in January, and a president and financial secretary were elected. Elected by acclimation at the Jan. 17 meeting were John Pacini, president and Leonni Avalos, financial secretary. A vice president is still needed, and the position is expected to be filled at the next meeting on April 17. John is a regional sales manager for Hermann Sons Life. He said he has been a member all his life and participated in tumbling classes and Camp. Leonni is a member benefits representative at the Home Office. She too has been a member for many years, attended Camp and was a Camp counselor. The Zoom meeting drew in seven participants virtually. Also participating were Vice President of Member Benefits Cecily Kelly, President and CEO Robin Czarnek, Vice President of Operations and COO Samantha Schulmeier, Member Benefits Representative Tammi Sutherland, Communications Director Elaine Soto and Assistant Communications Director Hannah Ruiz-Gruver. Cecily welcomed everyone and thanked them for their participation. She explained that a virtual lodge provides a better opportunity to serve all of Texas and

opportunities present themselves.” John said his goal is to first grow membership. “I am excited and honored to be involved in this new Greater Texas Lodge. We are the firstever virtual lodge, allowing us to help our community in many unique ways,” John said. Because we don’t have a building to worry about, giving back to the community will be the biggest priority, and we will encourage every member of the lodge to start getting involved in their local communities and letting the lodge help where it can. “Building this new lodge in uncharted territory is very exciting, and I want to invite anyone who is interested to join us on April 17. We are still seeking to fill the vice president seat at our next meeting. Only a Greater Texas Lodge member can hold the title of vice president and participate in voting. If you want to transfer to the Greater Texas Lodge to be a part of this exciting time, please call the Home Office to complete the required paperwork to transfer. Forms are also available on the website.” John encouraged anyone with questions to contact him or if they have ideas and topics to share for future meetings, to let him know. See NEW, Pg. 2
