Esta misma semana, apenas horas antes de meter en máquina esta edición de El Periódico de Sotogrande [la última antes de los periodos quincenales], todos los alcaldes del Campo de Gibraltar y algunos representantes regionales y comarcales, acudieron al Ministerio de Exteriores en Madrid, para conocer de viva voz y en primera persona de José Manuel Albares, las últimas matizaciones del acuerdo con Gibraltar y las negociaciones post-Brexit.

A nivel político, todo está sujeto a interpretaciones y convicciones, pero en cuanto a las circunstancias socio-económicas, su impacto guarda unas sobresalientes consecuencias de manera directa e indirecta, con los habitantes del Campo de Gibraltar, a uno y otro lado de la frontera.

Los derechos de los trabajadores fronterizos, actuales y futuros; el uso compartido del aeropuerto y sus potenciales ventajas; así como un marco de garantías para residentes e inversiones a ambos lados; debería crear un contexto perfecto de convivencia y de relaciones comerciales y personales, más que implantadas desde hace décadas, de manera particular en nuestra Comarca. Una vecindad más que productiva a lo largo de los años.

Más que a mejorar, viendo muchos de los resultados de acciones políticas en los últimos años, más bien la sociedad y la ciudadanía lo que reclaman y esperan es que no lo estropeen, ni lo obstaculicen. Más que grandes ventajas, el campogibraltareño lo que busca son pocos o mínimos inconvenientes para sus relaciones personales, laborales, económicas o comerciales con el Peñón, y viceversa.

A cohesive Campo de Gibraltar

This week, barely hours before this edition of El Periódico de Sotogrande (the last of the fortnightly periods) went into print, all the mayors of Campo de Gibraltar and some regional and provincial representatives, come to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Madrid, to personally meet José Manuel Albares, and hear about the latest nuances of the agreement with Gibraltar and the post-Brexit negotiations.

On a political level, everything is subject to interpretations and convictions, but in terms of socio-economic circumstances, its impact has remarkable consequences, directly and indirectly, on the inhabitants of Campo de Gibraltar, on both sides of the border.

The rights of border workers, current and future; the shared use of the airport and its potential benefits; as well as a framework of guarantees for residents and investments on both sides; should create a perfect setting for coexistence and commercial and personal relationships, which have been deeply-rooted for decades, especially in our Province. A neighbourhood that has been very productive over the years.

More than improving, seeing many of the results of political actions in recent years, what society and citizens are really calling for and what they hope for is that it isn’t spoilt, or hindered. More than great benefits, what the people of Campo de Gibraltar want is few or minimal setbacks for their personal, working, economic or commercial relationships with Gibraltar, and vice versa.

El beneficio de todos será el éxito y desarrollo del Campo de Gibraltar, más allá de su Comarca. Un lugar con singularidades muy específicas, que sus vecinos siempre comprendieron y interpretaron de forma inteligente y que ahora esperan no chafen, las decisiones políticas.

“Be water, my friend”

Es casi imposible no reconocerse y no encontrar multitud de connotaciones y significados, a nivel empresarial y/o personal, al extraordinario anuncio televisivo, de impacto mundial, que lanzó en el año 2006 la compañía alemana BMW, coincidiendo con el Mundial del fútbol en tierras germanas, en el que mítico Bruce Lee nos invitaba a dejarnos fluir y “ser agua, amigo mío”.

Somos en más de un 85% agua, en el interior de nuestro cuerpo humano, y sin duda, es el bien más preciado que tenemos y por desgracia, su volumen y reservas no dependen íntegramente de nuestras capacidades. Fíjense si es importante, que el fundamento principal de que Sotogrande hoy se ubique en este rincón, por encargo de Joseph McMicking, fue encontrar un lugar rico en agua. Todos estos argumentos incontestables e irrebatibles se están poniendo, precisamente, en las últimas semanas en cuestión por dos temas preocupantes y que requieren, ambas, voluntariedad y predisposición de la comunidad y por supuesto, de las administraciones públicas, muchas veces casualidad o causalidad de las mismas. La flexibilización de las restricciones de agua parece, al menos eso pinta, que va por zonas, por barrios, por signos o incluso colores. Mientras que apenas a unos 200 metros en línea recta desde nuestra urbanización las condiciones se han adecuado a la situación actual de las reservas de los embalses, incluso bajo criterio municipal; aún en el Campo de Gibraltar y de una manera más particular, en el Valle del Guadiaro, seguimos a la espera de alcanzar ese escalafón y más aún de despojarnos del posible complejo del agravio comparativo.

“Be water, my friend”

It is almost impossible not to acknowledge and find a large number of connotations and meanings, at a business and/or personal level, to the extraordinary television announcement, with a global impact, launched in 2006 by the German company BMW, coinciding with the World Cup in Germany, in which the legendary Bruce Less invited us to flow and “be water my friend.”

Por otro lado, seguimos luchando con alegaciones (sociedad civil, entidades, administraciones locales, etc.); contra la proyección del fondeadero frente a las costas de Sotogrande. Ya se realizó una cadena humana en 2018 frente a la playa de Torreguadiaro y probablemente no será la última. En definitiva, se antoja casi psicótico o enfermizo pensar que en esta joya natural y turística pueda plantearse un proyecto similar. Unilateralmente contrarios. Ya no luchamos por preservar nuestro entorno, a medio plazo, lo hacemos por las próximas generaciones, a las que le debemos poder disfrutar de un Sotogrande igual o mejor que el que heredamos.

El Valle del Guadiaro, a la espera de la flexibilización de las restricciones de agua

• La Junta rebaja la contingencia de suministro en Costa del Sol y provincia de Málaga, permitiendo el uso para piscinas privadas.

• La zona, muy optimista, espera para inicios del mes de junio contar con una flexibilidad similar y mejorar las actuales restricciones aplicadas desde inicios de abril.

El agua, como en todo lo que llevamos de 2024, en el centro de todas las miradas y polémicas. Entre las últimas novedades, destacar que el Valle del Guadiaro aguarda estos días la flexibilización en las medidas, adoptadas con cortes incluidos desde inicios del pasado mes de abril, de las limitaciones de agua con la expectativa de alcanzar un estadio y un nivel de suministros similares a los permitidos en su entorno más inmediato, como la Costa del Sol. Destacar que, en los últimos días, el gobierno autonómico de Juanma Moreno, anunció la permisividad y flexibilización para el uso y llenado de piscinas privadas en el contexto de la Costa del Sol.

A pocas semanas de que se empiece el verano y, con él, la llegada de turistas, Sotogrande y toda

su área de influencia, espera con impaciencia conocer las medidas que finalmente tendrán que adoptar para este verano y las garantís de que podrán disfrutar de la libertad de uso que sus vecinos costasoleños. En esta línea, destacar entre otras reclamaciones, la del alcalde de San Roque, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, solicitando y explicaciones de motivo de esta “distinción especial” a la Costa del Sol, atendiendo a la razón turística, y, sin embargo, en la zona de Sotogrande y el resto del Campo de Gibraltar “no se aplican las mismas condiciones, y son más restrictivas”.

Por su parte, la presidenta de la Mancomunidad de Municipios, Susana Pérez Custodio, replicó al regidor sanroqueño, argumentando que es “falso que exista

ni vaya a existir ningún acuerdo de la mesa de sequía en el que el Campo de Gibraltar vaya a quedar en situación de discriminación con respecto a Málaga o a la Costa del Sol”.

Además, la mandataria comarcal señaló que “desde la Mancomunidad creemos absolutamente incomprensible, carentes de rigor y de la mínima veracidad las manifestaciones de Ruiz Boix”. Una situación que preocupa a gran parte del sector turístico que espera estos meses ya que supone un fuerte empuje a la economía de toda la provincia.

A pocas semanas de que comience la temporada estival se espera a que se consiga luz verde y se disminuyan las restricciones, para disfrutar de un verano más o menos habitual en la zona.

Cataluña: desconcierto postelectoral

Después de las elecciones del 12 de mayo, el escenario político en Cataluña, y en el resto de España, es desconcertante. En efecto, nadie sabe lo que va a pasar, y la situación parece un juego de espejos o un mosaico ingobernable.

Si es presidente de la Generalitat el candidato vencedor, el socialista Salvador Illa, quedaría fuera el segundo, el fugado/amnistiado Carles Puigdemont, que ya ha anunciado que en tal caso habría “consecuencias”, es decir, que Pedro Sánchez ya no contaría con su apoyo en el Congreso. Esta precaria situación podría llevar a Sánchez a adelantar las elecciones generales, lo que no conviene ni a la izquierda ni a los separatistas, que anticipan la victoria del PP de Alberto Núñez Feijóo, que acaba de obtener unos buenos resultados en Cataluña.

Entre tanta confusión, una cosa parece clara: el retroceso de los nacionalistas. En 2021 eran mayoría en el Parlamento regional, con 74 diputados, sumando ERC, Junts y la CUP. En 2024, en cambio, apenas suman 61 diputados las fuerzas separatistas, que ahora son cuatro: Junts, ERC, la CUP y una nueva formación de

ultraderecha, Aliança Catalana. Es decir, el nacionalismo en su conjunto, por primera vez desde 1984, no obtuvo los 68 escaños necesarios para lograr la mayoría absoluta.

Sin embargo, aquí también hay puntos oscuros. Es verdad que el constitucionalismo es mayoritario, porque la suma de PSC, PP, Vox y Comunes llega precisamente a los 74 diputados que antes tenía el independentismo. Pero las posibilidades de pactos entre ellos parecen muy escasas, o nulas. Hubo un acuerdo recientemente en el ayuntamiento de Barcelona entre derecha e izquierda para designar un alcalde socialista, pero nadie anticipa que algo parecido se podría alcanzar a escala autonómica.

Por fin, lo más desconcertante quizá es el cambio dentro de los propios socialistas, porque, dadas las concesiones que ha hecho Sánchez a los independentistas, culminando en la amnistía para Puigdemont y algunos de sus so-

Among so much confusion, one thing seems clear: the decline of the nationalists. In 2021 they had a majority in the regional Parliament, with 74 representatives, adding together ERC, Junts and the CUP. On the other hand, in 2024, the separatist forces barely have 61 representatives, which now have four parties: Junts, ERC, CUP and a new far-right group, Aliança Catalana. Este proyecto que ya se vinculó desde hace años y que rechazaron, en conjunto todos los órganos representados de Sotogrande y su área de influencia, en contra del plan manifestado por la APBA (Autoridad Portuaria Bahía de Algeciras).

Entre algunos de los agentes que en los últimas semanas más se está movilizando en la contrariedad, a largo de este fondeadero, es la Plataforma “No al fondeadero”. En recientes argumentaciones,cuestionabaesos“hipotéticosbeneficiosmedioambientales y de seguridad marítima que -para la zona del Campo de Gibraltar, tendría un fondeadero de casi3000hectáreas(treintamillonesdemetroscuadrados)situado a unos 2800 metros de la línea litoral que va desde Punta Chullera hasta Torre Nueva, al lado de La Línea- supondría, curiosamente, para el único tramo de costa natural y virgen que queda desde Granada hasta el Estrecho de Gibraltar”.

“Esos hipotéticos beneficios medioambientales y de seguridad marítima se cifran, por lo que dicen ser fuentes bien informadas, en cantidades tan redondas como “más de 1.000.000 de toneladas de CO2 que los buques fondeados dejarían de emitir a la atmósfera” y el “gran aumento de la seguridad marítima derivada de que los buques fondeados no estarían al pairo, derivando, en la zona del Mar de Alborán, en espera de atraque o de posición de fondeo” en los fondeaderos establecidos en el inte-

rior de la Bahía de Algeciras y que pertenecen ya a la zona de servicio del puerto”. “Decir que el Mar de Alborán es una zona marítima que tiene 57.000 km2 por lo que no se entiende que no haya espacio marítimo, seguro y suficiente, para que los 30 barcos que se pretenden fondear en el fondeadero propuesto no puedan navegar con seguridad a un régimen de máquina reducido, y por tanto menos contaminante”, matiza. “Sería deseable, en aras a la transparencia, que se publicasen los estudios científicos

que avalan tal reducción de las emisiones, así como la verdadera necesidad de establecer tal enorme fondeadero sin antes haber justificado la óptima gestión de los ya existentes dentro de la Bahía así como de la eficiente regulación del tráfico marítimo desde puerto de origen a puerto de destino en el Puerto de Algeciras”. Por otro lado, desde el gobierno local, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, reafirmó su rotundo rechazo a la puesta en marcha de un fondeadero exterior e insiste en que no tienen en

cuenta que perjudicará a otros sectores económicos del Campo de Gibraltar, como son los del turismo residencial y deportivo. Ruiz Boix aclara que este posicionamiento también lo comparten la mayoría del Ayuntamiento de San Roque y los vecinos del municipio. En este sentido se manifestó en contra en los últimos seis años y “nuevamente lo han vuelto a hacer”. Aclaró que el haberlo hecho más tarde no era porque hubiera cambiado su posición, y no por ser un posicionamiento único del PSOE de San Roque o de la mayoría del Ayuntamiento , ya que es una posición compartida con los vecinos del municipio, y por el sector turístico y el residencial. Recordó que durante la espera muy posiblemente haya algunas obligaciones que tengan que realizar los barcos, algunas labores de mantenimiento, conservación o limpieza “y quizás podamos tener una mancha”. Insistió que estas afirmaciones no las dice alguien ajeno, sino alguien que es responsable municipal de cinco kilómetros de litoral en la Bahía de Algeciras, entre las barriadas de Puente Mayorga, Campamento y Guadarranque.

Resistance against anchoring ground unites public and social entities

• Platform created to endorse the position opposing its installation off the local coast.

• The mayor of San Roque, member of the national parliament, has been prominent in speaking out against the proposal.

Unity, cohesion and several claims presented, all by different public and private entities, against the realisation and viability of planning the anchoring ground off the local coast, from Punta Chullera to La Línea de Concepción. This project has been in the pipeline for years and rejected by all of the bodies represented from Sotogrande and its area of influence, opposing the plan put forward by the APBA (Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras).

Among some of the agents who have been mobilising most in recent weeks against the anchoring ground is the Platform “No al fondeadero” (No to the anchoring ground). In recent claims, it questioned the “hypothetical” environmental benefits and maritime safety which -for the area of Campo de Gibraltar, it would have an anchoring ground of almost 3000 hectares (thirty million square metres) located 2,800 metres from the coastline which goes from Punta Chullera to Torre Nueva, next to La Línea- it would entail, strangely, for the only stretch of natural and unspoilt coastline that remains between Granada and the Strait of Gibraltar.”

“Those hypothetical environmental and maritime safety benefits result, according to well-informed sources, in round numbers such as “over 1,000,000 tonnes of CO2 that the anchored boats would not emit into the atmosphere” and the “large increase in maritime safety resulting from the fact that the anchored ships would not be lying to, drifting in the area of the Alborán Sea, awaiting a berth or anchoring position” in the anchoring grounds set up inside the Bay of Algeciras which belong to the service area of the port.”

On the other hand, through the local government, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, outlined his complete rejection of the establishment of an outer anchoring ground and insisted that they have not considered that it will harm other economic sectors from Campo de Gibraltar, such as residential and sports tourism. Ruiz Boix clarified that this position is also shared by the majority of the Council of San Roque and the residents of the municipality.

In this regard, it has stood against it for the last six years “and has done so once again.” He insisted that these statements are not said by someone unrelated to the matter, but by

someone who is the municipal leader for five kilometres of coastline in the Bay of Algeciras,

del 13%, la tercera más intensa de España, según los datos del portal especializado Pisos.com. Andalucía se situó a la misma distancia de la autonomía más cara, Baleares que de la más barata, Extremadura. En cuanto a la vivienda de segunda mano en España, en abril de 2024 registró un pre-

cio de ascenso mensual del 1,55%. De un año a otro, la cifra registrada marcó una subida del 10,88%.

De un mes a otro, Almería (2,63%) fue la cuarta provincia española que más subió. Por su parte, Jaén (-0,45%) fue la cuarta provincia española que más se ajustó. Interanualmente, todas subieron, arro-

jando Málaga (19,49%) el tercer puesto entre las provincias españolas que más crecieron.

En cuestión de precios, la provincia andaluza más cara fue Málaga, siendo la cuarta en el ranking nacional.

Divina Naturaleza: un libro que enseña y divierte a los más pequeños

Con un alma creativa, incansable, que busca diferentes formas de expresar y crear a través de la literatura, prosa e incluso poesía. Juan Antonio Almanado ha publicado su séptimo libro, esta vez dedicado al mundo infantil, un mundo complejo, en el que quiere que los más pequeños disfruten de la lectura aprendiendo sobre naturaleza.

Como joven enamorado comenzó a escribir poesía para conquistar a su esposa, algunos de ellos están en su libro “En busca de la felicidad”, después su camino le llevo a escribir relatos y en 2018 comenzó una novela ambientada en la Segunda Guerra Mundial, pero no fue hasta el Covid cuando publico su primer libro. “El Covid

fue un momento en la vida que marco a todas las personas, que paralizo e hizo pensar en el momento que estaba sucediendo” nos cuenta Juan Antonio y se sintió con la necesidad de “escribí un poemario dedicado a todos los profesionales que de alguna manera se había visto implicados en el covid, con un relato corto que habla sobre la angustia y desconocimiento que se vivía en aquellos momentos”.

Divina Naturaleza es “un libro para que el niño se divierta, mientras se inicia en la poesía y aprende de un entorno natural”. Un libro de acertijos, en el que cada página es un animal para que los pequeños aprendan a conocer la naturaleza, el hábitat de los

animales y que ejerciten su cabeza en descubrir que animal es. Además, Juan Antonio piensa en los pequeños como “niños adultos que su mente tiene ansias de conocer”. Con ese motivo, su libro tiene un cofre con todas las palabras que pueden ser un poco más complicadas para el pequeño lector pero que consiguen enriquecer su vocabulario. Un volumen traducido también a inglés para que se difunda al mayor número de personas posibles y todos se nutran de él.

Aunque este es el último publicado tiene más proyectos en mente que irán viendo la luz progresivamente. Un autor con ganas de trasmitir a través de sus relatos.

Divina Naturaleza (Divine Nature): a book that teaches and entertains the little ones

With a creative, tireless soul, that seeks different forms of expressing and creating through literature, prose, and even poetry. Juan Antonio Almanado has published his seventh book, this time dedicated to the world of children, a complex world, in which he wants the little ones to enjoy reading by learning about nature. As a young man in love, he began writing poetry in order to win over his wife, some of the poems are in his book “En busca de la felicidad” (In search of happiness), then his path led him to write stories and in 2018 he began a novel set in the Second World War, but it wasn’t until Covid that he published his first book. “Covid was a point in life that marked everyone, that made people stop and think about the time that was happening” states Juan Antonio and he felt the need to “write a book of poems dedicated to all the professionals who in some way had been involved in Covid, with a short story that talks about the anguish and lack of knowledge experienced at that time.”

Divina Naturaleza (Divine Nature) is “a book to help children have fun, while getting an introduction to poetry and learning from nature”. A book of riddles, in which each page is an animal in order for children to learn to discover nature, the habitat of animals and to use their head to discover which animal it is. Also, Juan Antonio thinks of little ones as “adult children whose mind has a desire to learn.” For that reason, his book has a box with all the words that may be a little more complicated for young readers but who can enrich their vocabulary. The volume has also been translated into

English in order for it to be disseminated to the largest number of people

possible and for them to be nourished by it.

Although this is the last

book published, he has more projects in mind that they will be progressively released. An author with a desire to convey things through his stories.

Se estima que en España se diagnostican más de 40.000 casos nuevos de cáncer colorrectal cada año, lo que lo convierte en el segundo tumor más común en hombres y mujeres. Sin embargo, a pesar de su alta incidencia, la detección temprana y el tratamiento adecuado pueden mejorar significativamente las posibilidades de supervivencia.

El doctor Enrique Aycart es el jefe del servicio de Cirugía General y Digestiva del Hospital Quirónsalud Campo de Gibraltar, quien nos define el cáncer colorrectal como “un tipo de cáncer que se origina en el colon o el recto. It is estimated that more than 40,000 new cases of colorectal cancer are diagnosed in Spain each year, making it the second most common tumour in men and women. However, despite its high incidence, early detection and appropriate treatment can significantly improve the chances of survival.

Dr. Enrique Aycart is the head of the General and Digestive Surgery Service at Quirónsalud Campo de Gibraltar Hospital, who defines colorectal cancer as “a type of cancer that originates in the colon or rectum. It is the degeneration of tissues that normally come from polyps that occur in the colon which, when they degenerate, are transformed into malignant cells and from there a tumour develops. It has been established that from the time a polyp forms until colon cancer occurs, it takes between 8 or 10 years, hence the importance of preventing colorectal cancer”. After all this information, the question is more than obvious: How can we prevent colorectal cancer?

The specialist at Quirónsalud Campo de Gibraltar focuses “mainly on dietary education and the adoption of healthy habits. In third world countries, people eat a lot of fibre, and as a result, colorectal cancer rates are much lower than in Western countries, where we tend to eat foods low in fibre. A diet high in fibre and low in processed foods and red meat is recommended. Harmful habits such as alcohol and toxic products such as tobacco should also be avoided.

The ball is rolling, the magic of polo returns to Sotogrande. A new season kicks off in style, managed and organised by Ayala Polo Club, with a sporting calendar with more than 100 days of the best polo in Sotogrande.

One of the main novelties for this year in the International Tournament comes with the extension of its calendar, starting on 22 July, with the Bronze Cup [the final is scheduled for 27 July] and ending on 31 August, with the celebration of the Grand Final of the Gold Cup. In between, the Silver Cup will be held, with the final

scheduled for 17 August. And of course, the protagonists and names themselves. Sotogrande will enjoy live the four winners of the Argentine Open 2023 with La Natividad: Jeta’ and Barto Castagnola, Facu Pieres and Pablo Mac Donough, although in Sotogrande they will compete with different teams. Ireland and Sweden win the Nations Cup at Real Club de Golf Sotogrande

The Swedish and Irish teams have been the winners of the Real Club de Golf Sotogrande Cup, European Nations Championship, in the women’s and men’s categories respectively, while Spain has been third and eighth.

The Swedish women’s team made a total of 565 strokes (-11), leaving little choice to the other participants and has taken a clear victory after dominating the standings from the first day.

As for the Spanish team, which started this last day three strokes behind the British, has only been able to cut two strokes and has been a stroke away from matching them in second place, settling for third place.

Anna Cañadó has again been the player who has driven the Spanish team, signing a card of 71 strokes (-1), which was added to that delivered by Balma Davalos, 75 strokes (+3), while the result of Alba Gonzalez, 79 strokes (+7), was again the discarded.

As far as the men’s category is concerned, Ireland achieved a hard-fought victory, just one stroke behind Switzerland, second, and two behind Wales, third.

The Spanish team finally finished seventh, sharing position with England, after a very uphill start to the tournament, but the Spanish trio never gave up and improved as the days went by.

The third day of the Copa Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, had no particular impact on the top positions in the women’s standings but did allow Sweden, leader from the start of the test, increase its difference with England, second, and Spain, third, to 14 and 17 strokes respectively. With the Nordic team unreachable, the fight for second and third place has England and Spain as protagonists, and although the Spanish players have not been able to regain the position with which they started the tournament, they have approached only three strokes of the British.

The Spanish trio could do little more, considering that none of the players managed to win the demanding course designed by Robert Trent Jones.

The closest to the target was Anna Cañadó, who carded 73 strokes (+1), Balma Dávalos carded 77 strokes (+5), and Alba González found her best game and closed her match with 80 strokes (+8).

The Spanish men’s team, in the top 10 In the men’s category, the Spanish team climbed two places in the third round, placing ninth alongside the English team.

The best player of the Spanish team was Pablo Alperi, with 71 strokes (-1), thus removing the thorn of the previous day, where the opposite happened. The Asturian player was followed by Luis Masaveu, with a card of 73

El equipo femenino sueco hizo un total de 565 golpes (-11), dejando poca opción al resto de participantes y se ha hecho con una clara victoria después de dominar la clasificación desde la primera jornada. En cuanto al equipo español, que empezó esta última jornada a tres golpes de las británicas, sólo le ha podido recortar dos y se ha quedado a un golpe de igualarlas en la segunda posición, conformándose con la tercera posición. Anna Cañadó ha vuelto a ser la jugadora que ha impulsado al equipo español, al firmar una tarjeta de 71 golpes (-1), que se sumó a la entregada por Balma Dávalos, de 75 golpes (+3), mientras que el resultado de Alba González, de 79 golpes (+7), volvió a ser el descartado.

Por lo que se refiere a la categoría masculina, Irlanda ha logrado un luchado triunfo, por un solo golpe menos que

El equipo español finalmente ha sido séptima, compartiendo posición con Inglaterra, después de un inicio de torneo muy cuesta arriba, pero el trío español no se dio nunca por vencido y fue mejorando con el paso de las jornadas.

La tercera jornada de la Copa Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, no tuvo especial incidencia en los primeros puestos de la clasificación femenina pero sí permitió a Suecia, líder desde

el inicio de la prueba, aumentar su diferencia con Inglaterra, segunda, y España, tercera, a 14 y 17 golpes respectivamente.

Con el equipo nórdico inalcanzable, la lucha por la segunda y tercera plaza tiene a Inglaterra y España como protagonistas, y aunque las jugadoras españolas no han podido recuperar el puesto con el que empezaron el torneo, sí se han acercado a sólo tres golpes de las británicas.

Poco más ha podido hacer el trío español, teniendo en cuenta que ninguna de las jugadoras ha logrado ganar al

M12 National Rugby Festival kicks off this weekend

• San Roque Rugby Club celebrates the M12 National Rugby Festival, a historic event for the club, for the town and for Andalusian Rugby.

This Festival is organised by San Roque Rugby club, with the collaboration of the San Roque Town Hall, and under the auspices of the Andalusian Rugby Federation.

The event will start on Saturday 18th May at around 10.00 am and will finish at around 3.00 pm, the same timetable is expected on Sunday.

For this event there will be eight playing fields, all on the same natural grass pitch, so that all attendees and participants will enjoy the Rugby Festival in a single facility. A leisure area will be available, where you will find the official club shop, the official shop of the Royal Spanish Rugby Federation, catering and restaurant services and an information tent.

Este fin de semana dará comienzo el Festival Nacional de Rugby M12

• San Roque Rugby Club celebra el Festival Nacional de Rugby M12, un evento histórico para el club, para el municipio y para el Rugby Andaluz.

Este Festival, tiene como organizador San Roque Rugby club, con la colaboración del Ayuntamiento de San Roque, y el auspicio de la Federación Andaluza de Rugby.

El evento dará comienzo el sábado 18 de mayo, sobre las 10.00 h de la mañana y finalizará sobre las 15.00 h de la tarde, el domingo se espera el mismo horario.

Para este evento se cuenta con ocho campos de juego, todos en la misma cancha de césped natural, con lo que todos los asistentes y participantes disfrutarán del Festival de Rugby en una única instalación. Habrá disponible una zona de ocio, donde se encontrará la tienda oficial del club, tienda oficial de la Real Federación Española de Rugby, servicio de hostelería y restauración y una carpa de información

Independientemente de su actividad deportiva, que comprende más de 20 torneos deportivos de polo al año, Santa María Polo Club acoge regularmente eventos deportivos de ámbito nacional e internacional en diferentes modalidades deportivas. Ubicado en Sotogrande, una de las urbanizaciones más exclusivas del sur de Europa, Santa María Polo Club destaca por la calidad de sus instalaciones y su atención personalizada.

El club ofrece una amplia gama de espacios, tanto cubiertos como al aire libre, inspirados en la hospitalidad británica, pero refinados con el gusto español y andaluz. Un inicio especial, idílico, exitoso y casi soñado para la undécima edición del Circuito de Golf Sotogrande. Este 4 de mayo arrancó la primera prueba del calendario regular del Circuito de Golf Sotogrande 2024 con más de un centenar de participantes en un escenario clásico, ‘en casa’ se suele decir, como es Almenara Golf - SO/ Sotogrande. Un comienzo apabullante y que augura una edición de altura, no sólo en participación y premios que siempre es digno de logio, sino por el sabor y ambiente tan especial que rodea a la competición líder en el sur de Europa para amantes del golf. Destacar como una de las principales novedades, el premio a la Bola más cercana esponsorizada por Federópticos en la que los jugadores pudieron recibir un detalle de la firma, conocer algunos de sus productos e incluso participar en un gran sorteo, en esta prueba, ubicado en el Hoyo 2 de Alcornoques. Tras la competición, momento para socializar, hablar de la jornada y por supuesto disfrutar de un exquisito cóctel animado con Vinos de Marqués de Riscal y como siempre, con una espectacular pieza de Popi Jamones. se llevó la Bola más cercana, mientras que el Drive más largo fue para Dayron Ruiz (Caballeros) y Celia Nebot, en Damas. En la Cat. de Damas, el triunfo fue para Christine Bowers, seguida de Rose Marie Lund y Consuelo Hernández; en la Segunda Cat. Caballeros la victoria fue para Luis Rozados, seguido de Víctor Naz y Joseph Trubshaw; mientras que en la Primera Cat. Caballeros el ganador fue Dayron Ruiz, seguido de Stephen Bulley y Francisco Muñoz Lara.

Almenara Golf, dream start for XI Sotogrande Golf Circuit

A special, idyllic, successful, and almost dream start for the eleventh edition of the Sotogrande Golf Circuit. On 4 May, the first event of the regular calendar of the Sotogrande Golf Circuit 2024 got underway with over one hundred participants in a classic setting, at home as people usually say, Almenara GolfSO/ Sotogrande.

A dazzling start and one that promises a quality edition, not only in terms of participation and prizes which is always praiseworthy, but also the very special feel and atmosphere surrounding the leading competition in southern Europe for golf lovers. The Pinos and Alcornoques courses, in extraordinary condition and with very fast greens, hosted an event packed with excitement and

competitiveness at which even the wind was respectful and with exceptional conditions.

As one of the main new additions, it is worth highlighting the prize for closest ball sponsored by Federópticos in which players received a little gift from the brand, discovered some of its products and were even able to take part in a great prize draw, located at Hole 2 of Alcornoques at this event. After the competition, it was time to socialise, talk about the day and of course enjoy an exquisite cocktail party livened up with wines by Marqués de Riscal and as always, a spectacular ham by Popi Jamones.

With regard to the winners on the day: María José Pereda won Closest ball, while Longest drive went to Dayron Ruiz (Men) and Celia Nebot, in

the Ladies category. In the Ladies Category, victory went to Christine Bowers, followed by Rose Marie Lund and Consuelo Hernández; in the Men´s Second Category, victory went to Luis Rozados, followed by Víctor Naz and Joseph Trubshaw; while in the Men’s First Category, the winner was Dayron Ruiz, followed by Stephen Bulley and Francisco Muñoz Lara.
