El deporte proyecta éxito Lo vemos a diario en multitud de medios de comunicación, agencias y campañas publicitarias, productos audiovisuales (documentales, series, películas), conferencias y ejemplos de superación, etc. En multitud de escenarios contemplamos el universo del deporte, con el deportista como máximo exponente, como un plano y camino hacia la superación personal, el crecimiento a base del esfuerzo y por qué no, el éxito tras el sacrificio del trabajo duro y bien hecho.

En las páginas de esta edición de noviembre de El Periódico de Sotogrande no son precisamente pocos los éxitos y elementos vinculados al deporte de altísimo nivel y de perfil muy alto; que cuentan y ponen el nombre de Sotogrande en millones de hogares de todo el mundo. La victoria de Adrián Otaegui en el Estrella Damm Andalucía Masters de Golf, en el Real Club Valderrama, el triunfo de la selección española de polo en el Mundial de Estados Unidos; el Trofeo Rolex de Golf, la temporada argentina de polo con Pascual Sainz de Vicuña poniendo el nombre de Sotogrande en el mayor altar internacional del polo, la temporada a 22 goles de hándicap de polo en Sotogrande o, en la patria chica que diría un conocido, el IX Circuito de Golf Sotogrande; proyectan el mejor deporte del mundo con una denominación de origen ‘Made in Sotogrande’.

Aprovechemos esa ola. Aprovechemos ese momento y estas fantásticas circunstancias para vincular el éxito del deporte, no de cualquier tipo y en cualquiera de sus formas; el de más alto nivel vinculado al resort de Sotogrande. Hace sólo unas semanas, todo un top mundial del tenis como Nico Almagro, pasaba unos días en La Reserva Club de Sotogrande poniendo el listón del tenis en la zona a unas cotas nunca antes alcanzadas.

Lo mismo ocurre con la vela, con la hípica y con otras muchas grandes ventajas y valores diferenciales de los que disfruta Sotogrande como ningún otro lugar en el mundo.

Ahora viene el mundial de fútbol, veremos quién da con la clave y lo seguiremos en muchos de los establecimientos de nuestro entorno; pero mientras tanto, saquemos pecho por todo lo bueno que tiene este lugar.

The victory of Adrián Otaegui at the Estrella Damm Andalucía Masters de Golf, at Real Club Valderrama, the victory of the Spanish team at the World Polo Championship in the United States; the Rolex Golf Trophy, the Argentine polo season with Pascual Sainz de Vicuña putting the name of Sotogrande on the greatest international polo altar, the 22 season handicap polo season in Sotogrande or, on a local level as an acquaintance would say, the IX Sotogrande Golf Circuit; project the best sport in the world with the “Made in Sotogrande” designation of origin.

Let´s make the most of that wave. Let´s make the most of that moment and fantastic situations to link the success of sport, and not any kind and in any form; but sport of the highest level linked to the resort of Sotogrande.

Just a few weeks ago, a top global figure in tennis, Nico Almagro, spent a few days at La Reserva Club in Sotogrande setting the bar for tennis in the area at heights never achieved before.

The same applies with sailing, riding and with many other great benefits and distinguishing values that Sotogrande enjoys like no other place in the world. Now the World Cup is coming, we will see who finds the key and we will follow it in many of the establishments in our area; but meanwhile, let´s be proud of everything good that this place has.

Sumar más, para crecer mejor La renovación, la actualización y la modernización de activos y sistemas operativos es un eje fundamental en la continuidad y consolidación de entornos y destinos de primer nivel. Algo a todas luces bastante evidente y que tampoco necesita física cuántica para ser comprendido. Un eje que debe apoyarse en otro, igual de imprescindible, para conseguir fortalecer un enclave a todos los niveles que es el equilibrio a lo largo de tiempo en respetar y ensalzar nos valores y estándares de calidad en todos y cada uno de los servicios que presta.

Grupo HCP Sotogrande, editorial a la que pertenece esta emblemática cabecera y cada vez más cercana a su 25 aniversario el próximo curso 2023, celebró hace tan sólo unos días su décima tercera edición del Foro Empresarial Sotogrande, un evento muy esperado en el calendario local y que además cuenta desde hace varias ediciones con un entorno inigualable como es Real Club Valderrama.

Aprovechar estas líneas para agradecer a Javier Reviriego y todo su equipo lo excepcionales que son como anfitriones y su capacidad para albergar cualquier evento a un nivel ‘mundial’ en alta calidad.

De las principales conclusiones del Foro, no se pierdan en las siguientes páginas el exhaustivo informe de nuestro compañero Manuel Gil; sacamos una conclusión bien clara y es que Sotogrande cuenta con un posicionamiento de alto nivel en el panorama internacional en su segmento; un lugar que obliga al resto de su tejido empresarial y adheridos en la prestación de servicios a ofrecer un nivel de compromiso y atención de igual medida. Algo que debe aplicarse al servicio de alta calidad imprescindible en cualquiera de sus segmentos y sectores activos: hoteleros, gastronómicos, agentes inmobiliarios, clubes deportivos, medios, transporte, etc.

Sotogrande ha conseguido consolidarse y tener un lugar preferente como destino de gran demanda en alto poder adquisitivo. A todas luce eso debe verse refrendado en todo: imagen, cuidado, mantenimiento, profesionalización del servicio y por supuesto una suficiente, ágil y eficiente operativa; uno de los principales obstáculos a los que se enfrenta el sector empresarial: la evidente falta de operatividad profesional y formada.

Sotogrande tiene espacio, cuerpo y carácter de líder y eso debe llevarlo a cabo en todo. Desde la primera rotonda que te encuentras (deficiente); a la forma de servir el café o presentar un evento; no siempre acorde a lo que debe.

Add more, to grow better The renovation, updating and modernisation of assets and operational systems is a crucial pillar of the continuity and consolidation of first-rate settings and destinations. Something that is obviously quite clear and doesn´t require quantum physics to be understood. One pillar that needs to be supported by another, just as essential, to strengthen an area at all levels, which is balance over time in respecting and exalting our values and quality standards in all of the services provided. This is the difference between one and all.

Grupo HCP Sotogrande, the publisher that this emblematic publication belongs to and ever closer to its 25th anniversary next year in 2023, held its thirteen edition of the Sotogrande Business Forum just a few days ago, an eagerly-awaited event on the local calendar and for several editions it has also had the unparalleled venue of Real Club Valderrama. I want to use these lines to thank Javier Reviriego and all his team for how exceptional they have been as hosts and their capacity to host any high quality “global” event.

From the main conclusions of the Forum, in the following pages don´t miss the thorough report from our colleague Manuel Gil; we draw a very clear conclusion and it is that Sotogrande has a high-level position on the international scene in its segment; a place that makes it necessary for the rest of its business community and those who provide services to offer a level of commitment and service to match it. Something that needs to be applied to the high quality service that is essential in any of its active segments and sectors: hotels, gastronomic, property agents, sports clubs, media, transport, etc.

Sotogrande has managed to consolidate itself and have a preferential place as a high demand destination with high purchasing power. Clearly, this must be endorsed by everything: image, care, maintenance, professionalization of service and of course sufficiently agile and efficient operating; one of the main obstacles faced by the business sector: the clear lack of professional and trained operations.

Sotogrande has space, body and the character of a leader and that must be implemented in everything. From the first roundabout you come to (substandard); to the way of serving coffee or presenting an event; not always consistent with the way it should be.

Therefore, the commitment of everyone to maintain a “sustainable” destination over time, constantly evolving and growing but with quality service across all its profiles. This is our great proclamation for 2023.

Sotogrande ¡Atención, nuevo cambio de kilometraje en Sotogrande!

• La nueva medida del Ministerio de Transportes ejecuta en la zona la ‘rekilometración’ de la Autovía A-7 y modifica las tradicionales salidas en el entorno.

• La salida hacia Valderrama pasa de la 130 a la 1095, por ejemplo, o la de Puerto Sotogrande Y Torreguadiaro cambia de la 133 a la 1092.

Actualización, renovación y nuevos guarismos para reescribir y señalizar nuevamente las salidas y el kilometraje de la Autovía A-7, entre Barcelona y Algeciras, que afecta directamente a las habituales pautas e indicaciones de circulación que utilizamos desde hace años. La nueva iniciativa

del Ministerio de Transportes ejecuta en la zona la ‘rekilometración’ de la Autovía A-7 y modifica las tradicionales salidas en el entorno.

Se trata de una medida que trata de evitar confusiones y duplicidades al verse implicados similares salidas y puntos kilométricos en-

tre la tradicional N-340 y la A-7.

De manera que la autovía pasaría a comenzar en Barcelona y finalizar en el municipio de Algeciras.

De esta manera, habituales salidas como la de San Roque Club que actualmente se ubica en el kilómetro 127 pasaría a ocupar la

1098; mientras que la tradicional salida (dirección Málaga), de Sotogrande hacia Altos de Valderrama o la entrada hacia Supercor se modifica de la clásica 130 a la nueva 1095.

Similar es el caso de la salida hacia Puerto Sotogrande o Torreguadiaro, habitualmente y reco-

Attention, kilometre measurements changing in Sotogrande!

Sombras y resiliencia En el reciente XIII Foro Empresarial Sotogrande destacamos dos características sobresalientes del escenario económico y financiero: las evidentes dificultades que atraviesa hoy, y que marcarán el año 2023, pero también la resiliencia de nuestra economía.

Las principales inquietudes pasan por la desaceleración de la actividad económica, con una posible recesión, la subida de la inflación y de los tipos de interés, y un mayor desequilibrio de las finanzas públicas.

Es posible, por tanto, que nos enfrentemos a una nueva crisis, con una complicación añadida, que no habíamos padecido desde hace muchos años: la inflación, ese llamado “impuesto a los pobres”, un impuesto que no es votado en el Parlamento, pero

que ejerce un indudable impacto empobrecedor sobre el grueso de los ciudadanos.

Frente a todo esto cabe subrayar la resiliencia, que define así la Real Academia Española: “capacidad de adaptación de un ser vivo frente a un agente perturbador o un estado o situación adversos”. Que España tiene esa capacidad, en su economía y su sociedad, es indudable, y lo hemos visto recientemente en nuestra resistencia a la pandemia. No podemos descartar que esa fortaleza entre ahora en acción para mitigar los efectos del escenario negativo.

Hace pocos días, la vicepresidenta, Nadia Calviño, declaró en el periódico Cinco Días: “La recuperación en España está siendo rápida”. Puede que sea cierto, y esperemos que sea así,

aunque también es cierto que se trata fundamentalmente de un mérito de los empresarios y los

trabajadores de nuestro país, y no de sus gobernantes.

En Noche Vieja, SO/ Sotogrande ofrece dos opciones diferentes de minutas. Por un lado, una cena degustación con maridaje inspiradaen los sabores de Andalucía, servida en Cortijo, y por otro, una sofisticada propuesta más extendida en Society.

Christmas is around the corner. And so begins the search for plans and unique proposals for enjoying a magical Christmas alongside loved ones. such as lobster ceviche on spinach couscous, baked monkfish on an acidic orange sauce, and loin of beef in a Pedro Jiménez sauce with millefeuille of potatoes and roast leek. Sotogrande, ante el desafío de un crecimiento sostenible y de calidad • Las excepcionales instalaciones del Real Club Valderrama acogen la edición 2022 de uno de los eventos más esperados del calendario en Sotogrande, para tomar el pulso al rumbo socio-económico de la urbanización.

• La ilustrativa ponencia magistral de Carlos Rodríguez Braun dibuja el horizonte económico y macro-económico al centenar de asistentes al evento, componentes de tejido empresarial, político y social de la zona.

Conocer el rumbo de Sotogrande, es una pregunta que en muchas ocasiones se formula y no siempre cuenta con una respuesta sencilla o repleta de matices. Fruto de todas estas inquietudes y en la búsqueda de certidumbres del escenario socio-económico a corto y medio plazo, se celebró en las magníficas instalaciones del Real Club Valderrama el XIII Foro Empresarial Sotogrande, organizado por Grupo HCP Sotogrande.

Una cita habitual cada otoño que permite tomarle el puso al resort, conocer y descubrir las principales inquietudes y sugerencias de su tejido empresarial y social gracias a la asistencia de cerca de un centenar de los principales representantes de los principales sectores de la zona.

En esta ocasión, la mesa principal que invitaba e impulsaba los temas a debatir y argumentar, estuvo formada por: Javier Reviriego, director general de Real Club Valderrama; Rita Jordao, directora de Marketing & Ventas de Sotogrande S.A.; Domingo Plazas, de Plazas Abogados;

Gerardo Cuartero, de la división comercial de Caixabank; y con la moderación y presidencia de José Luis García, presidente de Grupo HCP Sotogrande. La cita, contó como evento central, además del clásico debate-coloquio local, con la ponencia magistral del doctor, economista y columnista de El Periódico de Sotogrande, Carlos Rodríguez Braun.

Entre las conclusiones más evidentes y que más centraron el debate entre los asistentes al evento fue la necesidad de una vez conseguido el posicionamiento “idílico” de Sotogrande como destino internacional vin-

De común acuerdo fue la tendencia positiva vivida desde la salida de la pandemia que potencia aún más el valor y el inte-

rés de inversores hacia un enclave tan privilegiado como el de Sotogrande (posición geográfica, baja densidad, naturaleza, buenas conexiones de transporte, educación de calidad, seguridad o entidades deportivas de primerísimo escalafón mundial). Todo ello, arroja también una serie de desafíos y retos sobre la “sostenibilidad” al más alto nivel de esta oferta de servicios.

Es una preocupación latente en todo el tejido empresarial de Sotogrande y su área de influencia, la continua, desde hace un tiempo, falta de personal de operatividad dispuesto a sumir

“Existe una necesidad real de generar más empleo en operatividad para ofrecer un sevicio de gran nivel” unas tareas esenciales a la hora de prestar una atención al cliente y al usuario de ‘destino prime’. Algo indispensable para una población local cada vez más creciente y que demanda esta oferta de calidad en todos los ámbitos: gastronomía, hoteles, seguridad, ocio, deporte, instalaciones, infraestructuras, transportes, etc.

En este sentido, entre las certezas de los ponentes, se determinaba una realidad muy palpable en el día a día de la urbanización como es el incremento de su comunidad. El concepto tradicional de Sotogrande que a menudo venía asociado a segundas residencias y periodos vacaciones está transformándose y evolucionando de una manera sobresaliente hacia un destino de residencia ‘full time’. Las familias encuentran un entorno perfecto, en todas sus necesidades, para establecerse de manera definitiva en la zona, un fenómeno que impulsa y apoya también la tendencia alcista y positiva que vive el sector inmobiliario desde hace más de 18 meses y cuyos primeros síntomas comenzaron ya en los meses previos a la pandemia.

Según datos facilitados por asistentes, a niveles generales, se está viviendo un incremento en la venta de propiedades superior al 30% en referencia a los datos de 2014; uno de los mejores momentos del sector en este sentido.

“Sotogrande ha evolucionado de ser un enclave turístico o de segunda residencia a un ser un destino ‘full time’ de calidad” El contexto internacional, con destinos similares a Sotogrande en una situación de conflicto o de incertidumbre, también favorecen este auge del resort como uno de los principales puntos predilectos por el inversor residencial de alto poder adquisitivo; la calidad del proyecto y la realidad que Sotogrande proyecta desde hace 60 años lo convierten en un enclave irrepetible. Un producto de excelencia.

Una de las grandes desventajas con las que contaba Sotogrande como destino era su desprotección o falta de atractivo taxativo para muchos inversores extranjeros que finalmente optaban por otros resorts, de características parecidas pero ubicados en países con notables beneficios y bonificaciones fiscales. Un tema que poco a poco parece que también se revierte y que recientemente toma aún mayor protagonismo tras la “supresión” en un 99% del Impuesto de Patrimonio por parte de la Junta de Andalucía, además de otras acciones que se están tomando y que impulsan la inversión, algo clave para sumar ventajas de un lugar como Sotogrande.

Y es que cada inversión, cada nuevo residente, tiene una reacción inmediata en la generación de empleo y riqueza en la zona.

Se dibujaron datos tan relevantes como el siguiente: cada vivienda de 1.000 metros cuadrados cuenta de media con al menos 2.5 trabajadores todo el año de manera directa; más todo lo derivado indirectamente (manteni-

miento y conservación, servicios públicos, asesoramiento fiscal y legal, transportes, comercios, etc.). Un círculo que integra en el proceso de crecimiento económico a toda la población y beneficioso para la comunidad al completo del Valle del Guadiaro.

Pero para todo ello, como resumen, es necesario aguardar y preservar unos cánones de cali-

dad que den sentido a todo lo que se hace y evitar “masificar” o “saturar” un mercado y un destino únicos en este momento. De ahí la necesidad de buscar un crecimiento “sostenible y de calidad”.

Sotogrande, facing challenge of sustainable and quality growth • Exceptional facilities of Real Club Valderrama host 2022 edition of one of most eagerly-awaited events of year in Sotogrande, in order to take the pulse of the socio-economical direction of the resort.

• The enlightening keynote address by Carlos Rodríguez Braun outlined the economical ad macro-economic horizon to the hundred people attending the event, members of the business, political and social community of the area.

Discovering the direction of Sotogrande, is a question that is often asked and it doesn´t always have a simple answer or one full of nuance.

As a result of all these concerns and the pursuit of certainties in the socio-economic scene in the short and mid-term, the magnificent facilities of Real Club Valderrama hosted the XIII Sotogrande Business Forum, organised by Grupo HCP Sotogrande.

A regular event each autumn that makes it possible to take the pulse of the resort, find out and discover the main concerns and suggestions of its business and social community thanks to the attendance of almost one hundred of the main representatives from the main sectors in the area.

On this occasion, the man table that invited and encouraged the topics to debate and discuss, was formed by: Javier Reviriego, director general of Real Club Valderrama; Rita Jordao, director of Marketing & Sales of Sotogrande S.A.; Domingo Plazas, of Plazas Abogados; Gerardo Cuartero, from the commercial division of Caixabank; and with the moderation and presidency of José Luis García, president of Grupo HCP Sotogrande. As the central event, in addition to the classic local debate-chat, the gathering had the keynote address by the doctorate holder, economist and columnist of El Periódico de Sotogrande, Car-

Among the clearest conclusions and that the debate among the attendees of the event focused on most was the need, having attained the “idyllic” position of Sotogrande as an international destination linked to the high-end and luxury segment; to manage to establish a coherence and consistency in relation to the standard of quality that each of sectors must offer with service that befits the level of the destination.

There was mutual agreement on the positive trend experienced since emerging from the pandemic which further enhances the value and interest of investors towards an area as privileged as Sotogrande (geographic position, low density, nature, good transport connections, quality education, safety and sporting entities of the highest global level). All of this also poses a series of challenges on the “sustainability” at the highest level of this range of services.

It is an underlying concern in the

entire business community in Sotogrande and its area of influence, the continuation, for some time, of the lack of operational staff willing to undertake essential tasks when it comes to providing clients and users with the treatment of a “prime destination”. Something essential for a local population that is growing and that demands this offer of quality across all areas: gastronomy, hotels, security, leisure, sport, facilities, infrastructure, transport, etc.

In this regard, among the certainties of the speakers, a very palpable reality could be felt in the daily life of the resort, the increase in its community. The traditional concept of Sotogrande that had often been linked to second homes and holiday periods is transforming and evolving in an outstanding way towards a full time residency destination.

The families find a perfect setting, for all their needs, to definitively settle in the area, a phenomenon that encourages and also supports the upward and positive trend that the property sector has been experien-

cing for more than 18 months and whose first symptoms began in the months before the pandemic. According to data provided by attendees, at general levels, there has been an increase in the sale of properties of over 30% in comparison to the data of 2014; one of the best periods of the sector in this regard.

The international context, with destinations similar to Sotogrande in a situation of conflict or uncertainty, also encourage the rise of this resort as one of the main preferred points for residential investors with high purchase power; the quality of the project and the reality that Sotogrande has been projecting for 60 years make it an unrepeatable setting. A product of excellence.

One of the great setbacks of Sotogrande as a destination was its lack of protection or lack of tax appeal for many foreign investors who ultimately chose other resorts, with similar characteristics but located in countries with notable benefits and tax discounts. An issue that gradually seems to be reversing and which

recently has gained greater prominence after the 99% “removal” of Wealth Tax by the Regional Government of Andalusia, as well as other actions that are being take and that encourage investment, which is essential to add advantages to a place like Sotogrande.

And the fact is that each investment, each new resident, has an immediate reaction of the creation of employment and wealth in the area. Mercadillo solidario en Sotogrande, el 3 de diciembre El próximo sábado 3 de diciembre, las instalaciones del Santa María Polo Club de Sotogrande (San Roque) acogerán la celebración de un Mercadillo Navideño Solidario organizado por la organización sin ánimo de lucro Nuevo Hogar Betania. Una iniciativa con la que la ONG recaudará fondos con los que seguir financiando los multiples proyectos que lleva a cabo para ayudar a personas en situación de exclusión.

En vísperas de una de las épocas

del año más esperadas por todos, la Navidad, Nuevo Hogar Betania ha preparado una jornada mágica repleta de eventos que empezará a las 11.00 de la mañana y durará hasta las 22.00 horas de la noche. Los asistentes al evento podrán compartir con sus amigos o familiares un día prenavideño al que no le faltará detalle. San Roque, primer ayuntamiento de Andalucía en presentar el presupuesto para 2023

El Presupuesto del Ayuntamiento de San Roque para 2023, incluyendo las empresas municipales, superará los 79,1 millones de euros, un 9,6 % más respecto a este año. La presión fiscal se sitúa igual, es decir, no hay ninguna subida de impuestos municipales y se mantienen en el mínimo legal. El alcalde, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, y el teniente de alcalde delegado de Economía y Hacienda, Ángel Gavino, presentaron, los presupuestos municipales del próximo año, que han definido como “equilibrados”, ya que tiene las mismas cifras de ingresos que de

gastos.

Ruiz Boix destacó que son los primeros presupuestos que se presentan en Andalucía y tienen como nota más importante que los impuestos a los ciudadanos están en el mínimo legal, “por lo que no podrá venir nadie a decir que va a bajar los impuestos”.

“Son los presupuestos más sociales, que dan respuesta a las necesidades de los vecinos de San Roque y el reto para el gobierno de 2023 es superar el 85 % de ejecución que tenemos en la actualidad”, indicó el alcalde.

La novedad principal novedad de es-

tos presupuestos, en el apartado de ingresos, “es que los ciudadanos tendrán bonificado del 95 % del impuesto por las obras de reforma en sus domicilios, que se suma a la bonificación del 95 % que se ha realizado a los constructores que quieran construir en San Roque casco o sus barriadas”, menos en la zona de Sotogrande.

Otra de las novedades es una ayuda a los jóvenes que cumplan 18 años en 2023, consistente en un cheque de 500 euros para la adquisición de un equipo informático, ordenador, portátil o tablet, medida que tiene el reto de

permanencia para años sucesivos a los que vayan cumpliendo 18 años.

La mayor parte de los ingresos se producen, por tanto, “de los impuestos de actividades especiales y del IAE, que están en sus cuantías más altas, a fin de que contribuyan más los que más ganan a sufragar los gastos de políticas de empleo y de políticas sociales”.

El alcalde señaló que para el presupuesto de ingresos, “se está buscando la equidad tributaria, sumando los tributos de IBI de las más de mil viviendas que se están construyendo”.

El presupuesto de gastos de 79 millones de euros “cumple con los tres ejes principales que planteamos desde el gobierno municipal: políticas de empleo, políticas sociales y de ayudas a la Educación, y el Plan de Inversiones”.

En relación con las políticas activas de empleo, se destinan 2.160.000 millones de euros, algo más que el pasado año, para mantener los trabajos de temporada en Emadesa y en Amanecer.

En políticas sociales, “tratamos que aquellas familias vulnerables tengan recursos suficientes para afrontar la carestía de la vida, para ayudar en las cosas más básicas, y para ellos destinamos en el presupuesto 1,3 millones de euros”.

En este apartado también se incluyen las Ayudas a la Educación, a las que en este presupuesto se destinan 60 mil euros, para atender con becas a los estudiantes de infantil, primaria, secundaria, bachiller y ciclos formativos.

Y otra de las líneas de actuación es el Plan de Inversiones, que el alcalde calificó de “ambicioso, que estará presente en todas los núcleos del municipio y que asciende a 17,5 millones de euros, no sólo para la reparación de viales y plazas, sino también para actividades culturales y deportivas”.

En ella, zona de Guadiaro, la obra más importante será el puente peatonal que unirá el Recinto Ferial de Guadiaro con la zona donde se celebra la Romería de San Enrique, que permitirá una mayor conexión de los vecinos.

En Torreguadiaro se finalizará el Cetro Multiusos, con espacio para la alcaldía, aulas y un restaurante, así como una plaza pública y un aparcamiento.

En el capítulo 1 o de personal se destinan 20 millones de euros, en el que hay un compromiso de reposición del personal que se ha jubilado, unos 16 trabajadores, y los acuerdos del Gobierno de España para el crecimiento en los salarios.

San Roque, first council in Andalusia to present budget for 2023 The Budget of the Council of San Roque for 2023, including the municipal companies, will surpass 79.1 million Euros, 9.6% more compared to this year. Another of the new additions is a grant for young people who turn 18 in 2023, which consists of a cheque for 500 Euros for the purchase of computer equipment, a computer, laptop or tablet, a mea-

sure that has the challenge of remaining for successive years for those who turn 18.

Most of the revenue is therefore from “tax on special activities and Business Tax, which are at their highest amounts, in order for those who earn most to cover the costs of employment policies and social policies”.

The mayor stated that for the revenue budget, “tax equity is sought, adding the Property Tax of the more than one thousand properties that are being built”.

The expenses budget of 79 million Euros “satisfies the three main focuses we proposed at the municipal government: employment policies, social policies and grants for Education, and the Investment Plan”.

With regard to active employment

policies, 2.16 million Euros have been allocated, slightly more than last year, in order to maintain seasonal work in Emadesa and Amanecer.

In social policies, “we try to ensure that vulnerable families have enough resources to deal with how expensive life is, to help with the most essential things, and we have allocated 1.3 million Euros to them in the budget”.

This section also includes Education Grants, to which 60 thousand Euros are allocated in this budget, to provide grants for pre-school, primary, secondary, baccalaureate and training cycle students.

And another of the lines of action is the Investment Plan, which the mayor described as “ambitious, it will be present in all the hubs of the municipality and it amounts to

17.5 million Euros, not only for the repair of roads and squares, but also for cultural and sporting activities”.

In the Guadiaro zone, the most important work will be the pedestrian bridge that will connect the Guadiaro Fair Enclosure with the area where the Pilgrimage of San Enrique is held, which will allow a greater connection for residents.

In Torreguadiaro, the Multi-Purpose Centre will be completed, with a space for the mayoral office, classrooms and a restaurant, as well as a public square and a car park.

Guillermo Collado, de Fresco Marina de Sotogrande, ganador del I Concurso Chef Campo de Gibraltar El Hotel Reina Cristina de Algeciras acogió la celebración de la final del I Concurso “Chef Campo de Gibraltar” resultando ganador del certamen Guillermo Collado Leiva, del restaurante Fresco Marina de Sotogrande (San Roque). Entregaron el premio, dotado de 500 euros, el Presidente de la Institución comarcal, Juan Lozano junto a la vicepresidenta Jessica Barea.

Así mismo la segunda y la tercera posición correspondieron a Julia Martínez Gutiérrez (Lizarrán de Algeciras) y a Juan José Mora Sánchez, del restaurante Buen Provecho de Algeciras, que recibieron su mención de manos de los vicepre-

sidentes Perea y Manella respectivamente.

El concurso “Chef Campo de Gibraltar” busca reconocer el trabajo de los cocineros y cocineras de la comarca, a la vez que persigue fa-

vorecer la difusión y conocimiento de los productos del Campo de Gibraltar.

La iniciativa está enmarcada dentro del convenio de colaboración establecido entre la Diputación Provin-

cial y la Institución comarcal y que, bajo el nombre “Proyecto Activa Campo de Gibraltar 2022”, tiene como objetivo la promoción de un nuevo modelo de desarrollo sostenible en la provincia de Cádiz bajo

criterios de reequilibrio territorial, social y medioambiental, mediante el apoyo a la innovación y a la mejora de la competitividad de los sectores productivos estratégicos.

Tanto el presidente Lozano como los vicepresidentes comarcales felicitaron a los profesionales de la cocina que han participado en la presente edición al contribuir a la puesta en valor toda la riqueza y creatividad de la cocina en el Campo de Gibraltar y resaltar la importancia del sector dentro de la industria turística comarcal.

La II edición del concurso tendrá su inicio a principios del próximo año 2023.

The “Campo de Gibraltar Chef” competition seeks to re-

The initiative is part of the collaboration agreement established between the Provincial Council and the provincial Institution which, under the name “Active Campo de Gibraltar 2022 Project” is aimed at the promotion of a new sustainable development model in the province of Cadiz under the criteria of restoring territorial, social and environmental ba-

lance, through support of innovation and the improvement of competitiveness in strategic productive sectors.

Both the president Lozano and the provincial vice-president congratulated the cooking professionals who participated in the edition by helping to showcase all the riches and creativity of cuisine in Campo de Gibraltar and highlighting the importance of the sector within the provincial tourist industry.

San Roque despide con honores al dibujante Carlos Pacheco El féretro de Carlos Pacheco fue despedido entre aplausos en la Plaza de la Iglesia, como último homenaje del Pueblo de San Roque a su Hijo Predilecto, considerado uno de los mejores dibujantes de superhéroes del mundo. Previamente se celebró en el Palacio de los Gobernadores, donde se había habilitado su capilla ardiente, un acto civil en el que intervinieron el alcalde, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, y varios amigos y compañeros de profesión de Pacheco.

Durante toda la jornada de capilla ardiente se acercaron hasta el Palacio de los Gobernadores numerosos familiares, amigos, compañeros y admiradores de Carlos Pacheco, y muchos de ellos firmaron en el Libro de Condolencias.

El acto de despedida también contó con una oración-responso a cargo del párroco de Santa María La Coronada, José Manuel Sánchez Cote. A continuación se produjo el acto civil, en el que intervinieron el alcalde, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix; el ex gerente de la Fundación Municipal de Cultura, Juan Gómez Macías, que tam-

bién fue amigo y colaborador de Pacheco; Andrés Vázquez de Sola, considerado el mejor dibujante de prensa mundial e Hijo Predilecto de

San Roque; Rafael Marín, quien trabajó como guionista del dibujante sanroqueño en numerosas ocasiones; y Jesús Merino, entintador, co-

laborador habitual y buen amigo del fallecido. El acto finalizó con música de Neil Young, concretamente con la canción “Heart of Gold”, una de las preferidas del artista.

Finalizado el acto civil, los familiares de Carlos Pacheco se quedaron solos en la capilla ardiente para una despedida íntima, tras la cual se bajó el féretro hasta el coche fúnebre situado en la Plaza de la Iglesia. Autoridades municipales y numerosos vecinos y amigos de Pacheco estuvieron presentes, y dieron un último aplauso al genial historietista sanroqueño cuando el vehículo partió hacia el lugar donde se ha producido la

incineración del cuerpo, un acto en el que sólo ha estado presente la familia del fallecido.

Carlos Pacheco Perujo, uno de los grandes historietistas españoles y dibujante de superhéroes como Superman, Capitán América o Batman, ha fallecido este miércoles a los 60 años como consecuencia de la esclerosis lateral amiotrófica (ELA) que padecía. Se han decretado dos jornadas de luto oficial en reconocimiento de quien fue nombrado en 2001 Hijo Predilecto de la Ciudad de San Roque, y cuyo nombre se puso a una concurrida avenida del municipio.

At the end of the civil ceremony, the family members of Carlos Pacheco remained alone in the funeral chapel for an intimate farewell, after which the coffin was brought down to the funeral hearse located in Plaza de la Iglesia. Municipal authorities and several residents and friends of Pacheco were present, and gave a final applause to

the fantastic San Roque comic artist when the vehicle left towards the place where the body was cremated, an event that only the family of the deceased person attended.

Carlos Pacheco Perujo, one of the great Spanish comic strip artists and the drawer of superheroes such as Superman, Captain America and Batman, passed away this Wednesday at the age of 60 as a consequence of the Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) he suffered from. El próximo 26 de noviembre, a las 13:00 horas en la Divinia Misericordia de Pueblo Nuevo, se celebra la misa funeral.

Gran pesar de la comunidad por el fallecimiento del que fuera párroco de Guadiaro, Agustín Borrell. El padre Agustín falleció en la localidad de Vejer de la Frontera, su pueblo natal, por causas naturales. Borrell, hasta hace un año párroco de la parroquia Nuestra Señora del Rosario, fue una persona muy querida en todo el Valle del Guadiaro. El primer edil de San Roque, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, muestra su pesar por esta pérdida de quien dijo que “era un amigo cercano”, de quien durante una década ha sido el reverendo de la población del Valle del Guadiaro, y asimismo envía un mensaje de condolencias a los muchos amigos de Borrell, una persona admirada, respetada y querida entre los vecinos de la zona.

Vehículos y Sotogrande Buenos días: He leído sobre las circunstancias caóticas de aparcamiento en Torreguadiaro, que afectan específicamente a los negocios gastronómicos. Querría pues informarles de un caos aún mayor en relación con el colegio Sotogrande International School (SIS) y la llamada «urbanización cerrada» La Reserva de Sotogrande. Cientos de coches privados de padres y autobuses atraviesan la puerta de seguridad para entrar en dicha comunidad cada mañana y cada tarde, sin que se les haga preguntas desde la caseta de vigilancia. Son varios los padres que aparcan sus vehículos durante un período de tiempo, aprovechando además la oportunidad de atender los «negocios» de sus perros. Muchos de estos vehí-

culos bloquean las entradas y salidas de los garajes privados de los propietarios, que no quieren otra cosa que la seguridad, tranquilidad y protección del valor de sus propiedades. Y en ocasiones, uno se siente como si estuviera en Londres en pleno Piccadilly Circus.

El colegio ha triplicado su número de alumnos de un tiempo hasta ahora, pero no se ha ocupado de las horribles condiciones de tráfico y aparcamiento. Sotogrande S.A. tampoco ha hecho su trabajo a la hora de atender los problemas de este rápido crecimiento. La situación se está agravando y ya ha habido varios heridos por atropellos, pero no se espera ninguna mejora a la vista.

El director de Sotogrande S.A. ha declarado en alguna ocasión que

«los padres de los niños del colegio Sotogrande International School no pueden aparcar en La Reserva para esperar a sus hijos».

Sin embargo, la triste realidad es todo lo contrario.

Para las viviendas y los propietarios que se encuentran detrás de la caseta de vigilancia, esta situación se ha convertido en una pesadilla, afectando tanto al principio de seguridad y protección que cualquier

comunidad cerrada normal debería proporcionar a sus miembros, así como al valor de sus propiedades.

Many of these parents are parking their vehicles for a period of time, and are also using this opportunity to attend to the “business” of their dogs. Some of them are blocking exits and entrances to private garages of homeowners, who want no-

thing else than safety, tranquility and protection of their property values. At times, you feel as being at Piccadilly Circus in London.

The School has increased their number of pupils 3 times in the past – but has not taken care of the horrible traffic and parking conditions. Sotogrande S.A. has also not done their job in attending to the fast growing problems rather early than

HALLOWEEN SOLIDARIO EN SOTOGRANDE La Asociación Niños Grandes de Estepona y Molokai de Algeciras, vivieron una jornada muy especial en las instalaciones de Ágora en Sotogrande, con una velada solidaria y gastronomía de primer nivel a precios económicos para “comer muy bien y pasar mucho miedo”. Keys to better communication Something that is done a lot in mediation sessions is working on the way of saying things, changing statements that block communication for others that are more constructive. Facilitating the translation of reproaches into requests or asking questions in order to guide the future by encouraging creative proposals, is something that the mediation professional does to help the dialogue between their clients flow. Here are some simple “translations” that everyone can apply to avoid common errors in communication: By changing the “you are exaggerating” for a why don´t you try to see the situation from another perspective, we manage to recognise the emotions of the other and not call it into question.

By changing the “it is always the same thing with you” to “this has happened to you at other times” we avoid the excessive generalisation of “always” which distances us from the reality of faces and entails a very subjective judgement.

By changing the “you haven´t understood me” to a “I think I haven´t properly explained myself”, we assume our responsibility and prevent the other person feeling criticised.

By changing the judgmental “I told you” to a “do you believe you would do something differently the next time?”, we avoid reproaches and face the future.

By changing the “you need to decide now” to a “I understand that you have doubts”, we show empathy and make the other person understand that we understand their position.

By changing the “you never say sorry” to a “it would make me feel good if you said sorry”, we avoid another excessive generalisation, that of “never”, which takes away objectivity in order to continue with the conversation.

By changing the “leave it, I will do it” to an “if you need help, tell me” we avoid the other person feeling judged and incapable of doing something by showing them our willingness to help.

By changing the “I do it much better” to a “allow me to show you another way of doing it” we give validity to the message without belittling the other person.

IV Congreso de Filosofía y VI Concurso de Filosofía Colegio San José El Colegio San José de Estepona y Marbella convoca el VI Concurso de Filosofía Colegio San José con el tema “El mundo: entre realidad y ficción”, dirigido a alumnos de 1º y 2º de Bachillerato y del Programa del Diploma del Bachillerato Internacional procedentes de centros educativos públicos y privados de todo el territorio nacional.

El objetivo del Concurso es incentivar el pensamiento filosófico y crítico del alumnado. Con este fin, los participantes deben realizar una disertación

filosófica basada en el lema del concurso y elaborada con arreglo a sus bases. Posteriormente el jurado hará público los nombres de tres estudiantes finalistas, quienes deberán defender sus trabajos y responder a las preguntas del jurado en una fase final que se celebrará en el marco del IV Congreso de Filosofía Colegio San José el próximo 24 de marzo de 2023. Tras la deliberación serán otorgados el primer, segundo y tercer premio, que consisten en una dotación económica, lote de libros y di-

ploma.

Un otoño ‘tenebroso’ y de aprendizaje El mes de octubre ha continuado siendo un mes de cine, con muchas cositas que celebrar y disfrutar. Para la llegada del otoño visitamos el merendero de nuestro pueblo junto al río Guadiaro, donde tras la mini ruta de senderismo todo el centro desayunó al aire libre y disfrutó de unos talleres lúdicos por parte de nuestro AMPA. También celebramos Halloween y todos vinimos disfrazados de personajes del terror, desfilando ante las familias del centro. El claustro se vistió de la Familia Adams para tratar la diversidad familiar dentro d esta temática, y en clase, cumpliendo con la tarea integrada que estamos llevando a cabo el presente curso del cine, conocimos a la figura de

Frankestein.

Por último, en el cole seguimos formándonos y preparándonos para atender todas las necesidades del alumnado, así que todo el profesorado ha hecho una formación de primeros auxilios, la

Reclaman mejoras para la A-2100 que conecta Sotogrande y Castellar Mejoras para la carretera de Las Arenillas que conecta Sotogrande y Castellar. La diputada autonómica por la provincia de Cádiz Rocío Arrabal, se comprometió con los dirigentes del PSOE de Castellar de la Frontera a trasladar al Parlamento de Andalucía una de sus principales reivindicaciones: la necesidad de que se incluya en los Presupuestos de la Comunidad Autónoma para 2023 el “arreglo integral” de la carretera A-2100 entre su municipio y el término municipal de San Roque, que es de titularidad autonómica y actualmente se encuentra en un preocupante estado

de deterioro.

Arrabal mantuvo en las últimas horas un encuentro con el alcalde de Castellar, Adrián Vaca, para tomar nota de sus principales demandas, y pudo comprobar in situ el lamentable estado en que se encuentra la mencionada carretera, 9 kilómetros que unen toda la zona interior del Campo de Gibraltar con la costa gaditana, a la altura de la urbanización de Sotogrande, y que soportan una alta densidad de tráfico, especialmente en los meses de verano.

Tal y como ha advertido el propio Adrián Vaca en el transcurso de la reunión, en la que también partici-

paron las tenientes de alcalde Victoria González y Tamara Trujillo, la carretera fue objeto de algunas mejoras en su capa asfáltica en 2018, pero actualmente está necesitada de una actuación “de más calado”, que permita mejorar el estado de un firme que cuenta con numerosas ondulaciones, grietas y vencimientos que provocan accidentes de

tráfico por salidas de vehículos de la vía, sobre todo en cuanto empiezan las lluvias.

“Una vez más, como lamentablemente ocurre en otros puntos de la provincia, hablamos de una carretera en mal estado que es una vía de comunicación importante para municipios de interior y en la que se producen accidentes de seguridad

vial que podrían evitarse”, señala Arrabal, que defenderá en la Cámara autonómica la necesidad de que la Consejería de Fomento adquiera un compromiso firme con el arreglo de la A-2100, con un programa y un plan de actuaciones debidamente cuantificadas y dotadas económicamente, y un horizonte temporal que las desarrolle.

Ayala Polo Club anuncia que el Alto Handicap contará con equipos de hasta 22 goles para el 52º Torneo Internacional de Sotogrande, el próximo verano. La programación de torneos dibuja una temporada alta de polo en Sotogrande de más de cinco meses de duración.

El mejor polo se vive y se disfruta, por supuesto, en Sotogrande. Ayala Polo Club, que desde el año 2020 cuenta con la gestión y organización de la temporada alta de polo en Sotogrande, realizó uno de los anuncios más esperados por la afición de polo en la zona. La próxima edición de 2023 del Torneo Internacional de Polo, la número 52, recuperará en el Alto Hándicap los equipos de 22 goles; algo que posiciona aún más el Grand Slam de Sotogrande como la gran referencia en la temporada estival del polo mundial.

Una apuesta que seguro incrementará aún más el nivel y la calidad de organizaciones y estrellas de este deporte que desfilarán el próximo agosto por las canchas de Sotogrande. Un paso más al frente de Ayala Polo

• Ayala Polo Club announced that the High Handicap category will have teams of up to 22 goals for the 52nd Sotogrande International Tournament, next summer.

• The tournaments programme is creating an elite polo season in Sotogrande lasting for more than five months.

Of course, the best polo is experienced and enjoyed in Sotogrande. Ayala Polo Club, which since 2020 has managed and organised the high polo season in Sotogrande, made one of the most eagerly-awaited announcements for polo fans in the area. The next edition in 2023 of the International Polo Tournament, number 52 will bring back the 22 goal teams High Handicap; which further positions the Grand Slam in Sotogrande as the leading benchmark in the summer season of global polo.

“Cuando tenía 13 años un día Jon me confesó: ‘Eduardo, voy a ser número uno del mundo’. No me dijo tal vez o quizás” Director de la popular Escuela de Golf Celles en Bilbao, entrenador del número uno del mundo Jon Rahm, Eduardo Celles une su nombre al de Sotogrande con motivo de un ambicioso proyecto inmobiliario ‘Cork Oak Mansion’. El Periódico de Sotogrande tiene la oportunidad de charlar con él sobre su escuela, sobre Rahm y sobre este ilusionante proyecto que muy pronto lo traerá a menudo por la urbanización. cuantos grandes de Jon.

Muchas gracias por atendernos Eduardo, nos gustaría que nos hablaras de los comienzos de la Escuela de Golf Celles, ¿cómo surgió el proyecto?

Nuestra escuela ha cumplido ahora 25 años. Surgió como un negocio familiar. Somos hijos y nietos de profesionales del golf, la tercera generación. Mi abuelo ganó el Open de España en 1945, luego mi padre siguió esa estela y participó en la Copa del Mundo del 57 en Japón y Canadá. Nosotros, sus hijos, nos hemos dedicado a la enseñanza. En el año 97 decidimos abrir una escuela para acercar el golf a todos los jugadores que no puedan acceder a un club y se puedan iniciar en este magnífico deporte.

Actualmente tenemos 700 federados por la escuela, por donde pasan cada semana unos 300 alumnos. La verdad es que tenemos mucho éxito.

¿Ha servido la fama internacional de Jon para que más jóvenes se acerquen a tu escuela?

La verdad que sí, se nota un montón.

A la escuela viene mucha gente joven, el efecto Jon Rahm es una de las claves. También es verdad que con la pandemia se popularizó mucho el deporte al aire libre, muchos chavales que habían jugado de críos y lo habían abandonado volvieron a jugar. Pero, desde luego, el efecto Jon Rahm es muy fuerte, es impresionante lo que está haciendo por el golf en España. Es de agradecérselo.

“Trabajamos en varias acciones junto a DUS para la promoción de unas fantásticas villas en Sotogrande” Éxito además que ha traspasado fronteras gracias, sobre todo, a la figura de Jon Rahm, número uno del mundo, a quien tuviste la oportunidad de entrenar en esa misma escuela ¿Qué recuerdas de aquel jovencísimo Jon? Haber tenido a número uno del mundo como alumno nos llena de orgullo, no es algo que puedan decir muchas escuelas en todo el mundo.

Yo al principio le daba clase a su madre, Ángela, él llegó a nuestra escuela con solo trece años. A día de hoy seguimos manteniendo muy buena relación, él ya vive en Arizona, pero seguimos manteniendo el contacto. Es de verdad un orgullo haberlo tenido en nuestra escuela. ¿Tuviste entonces claro que acabaría despuntando profesionalmente como lo ha hecho?, ¿le viste cualidades?

Jon me dijo: ‘Eduardo, voy a ser número uno del mundo’. No me dijo creo, tal vez o quizá. Él ya tenía una forma de ser, un talento para el golf extraordinario. Le hice entonces algunos cambios en el swing, al principio le costó pero se fue adaptando y con eso ya ganó el Campeonato de España Junior con 15 años. Luego se fue a Phoenix, a Arizona State, la universidad. El primer año le costó adaptarse, pero luego se hizo número uno del mundo amateur y fue invitado al Torneo del Open de Phoenix.

En esa ocasión fui a verle. Era la primera vez que le veía jugar un torneo profesional. Al principio le dije a su padre que si su hijo quería ser número uno del mundo, allí había al menos cinco mil como él, pero luego vi cómo jugó con Tiger y con los mejores jugadores, cómo casi ganó, quedó el cuarto. Entonces le dije: ‘tu hijo es diferente a los demás’, ahí me di cuenta.

Después de llegar a la cima del golf mundial, ¿qué futuro le auguras a tu alumno más aventajado?

Le auguro un futuro muy largo, Jon es un jugador que hace una cosa que pocos jugadores han hecho: estar siempre en todos los torneos entre los primeros. Porque el golf es un deporte de picos, lo mismo vemos jugadores que están arriba y de repente caen. Jon siempre está entre los diez primeros, nos esperan unos

¿Qué puedes decirnos de la nueva cantera?, ¿Has descubierto ya nuevas promesas como Jon? Siempre tenemos chavales que destacan pero llegar a nivel de Jon es difícil. A nivel español hay unos cuantos jugadores muy buenos. Muchos tienen como objetivo hacer como hizo Jon, irse a EEU a hacer un programa deportivo y académico, pero sí tenemos jugadores que posiblemente lleguen a ser muy buenos jugadores de golf.

Como apasionado y profesional del golf suponemos que habrás venido a menudo por Sotogrande.

Por supuesto. Sotogrande es la zona donde están ubicados los mejores campos de España. Por el clima, por

el nivel de los campos es un destino muy aconsejable para cualquier enamorado del golf. Yo lo conozco desde hace muchos años, pero los últimos que he estado viniendo con Jon al Valderrama Master he visto la importantísima apuesta de mejora que se está haciendo en muchos campos de la zona. A nivel internacional, Sotogrande es el escaparate del golf en nuestro país.

Sabemos que ahora tu vinculación con Sotogrande se ha hecho todavía más fuerte. Háblanos de ese proyecto inmobiliario que te trae recientemente por aquí.

Se trata de un proyecto muy ilusionante. La empresa DUS desarrollos inmobiliarios quiere vincular mi nombre a la venta de unas villas que tienen en Altos de Valderrama. Para mí es algo diferente a lo que me he dedicado toda la vida, pero creo que es un gran proyecto donde podremos vincular vivienda y golf.

Tenemos pensado hacer varias actuaciones muy interesantes para la promoción de las villas, entre ellos organizar varios clinics con clientes que estén interesados en comprar las casas, hacer alguna experiencia de golf vinculada a Altos de Valderrama, que es donde se emplaza la promoción de estas 6 imponentes villas. La verdad es que es algo que me gusta, vincular mi imagen a esta zona, referente a nivel mundial en el mundo del golf, es una experiencia nueva que me hace mucha ilusión.

“When he was 13 one day Jon told me: `Eduardo, I am going to be number one in the world`. He didn´t say perhaps or maybe” Many thanks for talking to us Eduardo, we would like you to tell us about the origins of the Celles Golf School, how did the project arise?

Our school has now celebrated its 25th anniversary. It emerged as a family business. We are the children and grandchildren of golf professionals, the third generation. My grandfather won the Spanish Open in 1945, then my father continued in his footsteps and participated in the World Cup of `57 in Japan and Canada. We, their children, have been devoted to coaching. In ´97 we decided to open a school to bring golf to all the players who cannot access a club and get started in this magnificent sport.

At present, we have 700 players federated by the school, which 300 pupils visit each week. The truth is that we have a lot of success.

That success has also crossed borders thanks, above all, to the figure of Jon Rahm, the world number one, who you had the chance to train at the same school. What do you remember about the very young Jon? Having had a world number one as a pupil fills us with pride, it is something that not many schools around the world can say.

To begin with, I taught his mother Ángela, he came to our school aged just thirteen.

At present, we still have a very good relationship, he now lives in Arizona, but we still keep in touch It is honestly a great source of pride to have had him at our school.

Were you clear then that he would end up standing out professionally as he has done? Did you see those qualities?

When he was just 13 one day Jon told me: `Eduardo, I am going to be number one in the world`. He didn´t say I think, perhaps or maybe. He already had a way of being, an extraordinary talent for golf.

Then I made some changes to his swing, it was difficult for him at the start but he gradually adapted and won the Junior Spanish Championship aged 15. Then, he went to Phoenix, to Arizona State, the university. He found it hard to adapt the first year, but then he became number one in the amateur world and was invited to the Open Tournament in Phoenix.

On that occasion I went to watch him. It was the first time that I watched him play at a professional tournament. To begin with I told his father that if his son wanted to be world number one, there were at least five thousand like him, but then I saw how he played with Tigers and the best players, how he almost won, he finished fourth. Then I told him: “your son is different to the others”, I realised it then.

After reaching the summit of world golf, what future do you predict for your most talented pupil?

I predict a very long future; Jon is a player who does something that very few players have done: he is always among the top players at all tournaments. Because golf is a sport of ups and downs, we see players who are at the top and suddenly drop. Jon is always in the top ten, we can expect a few majors from Jon. Has Jon´s international fame helped to bring more young people to your school?

Honestly, yes, we really notice it. A lot of young people come to the school, the Jon Rahm effect is one of the keys. It is also true that the pandemic really popularised outdoor sport, many young people who played as kids and had given up started playing again. But, of course, the Jon Rahm effect is very strong, what he is doing for golf in Spain is very impressive.

He should be thanked.

What can you tell us about the new young players? Have you discovered new hopefuls like Jon? We always have young guys who stand out but reaching Jon´s level is difficult. At a Spanish level there are some very

good players. A lot aim to do what Jon did, go to the United States to do a sporting and academic programme, but we do have players who might end up being very good golf players.

As an enthusiast and golf professional we assume you will have often come to Sotogrande.

Of course. Sotogrande is the area that is

home to the best courses in Spain. Due to the climate and the level of the courses it is a very recommendable destination for any golf lover. I have known him for many years, but in the recent years that I have been coming with Jon to the Valderrama Masters I have seen the really significant commitment to improvement being made to several courses in the area. Interna-

tionally, Sotogrande is the golf showcase in our country.

We know that your ties to Sotogrande have become even stronger. Tell us about the property project that has recently brought you here.

It is a very exciting project. The company DUS desarrollos inmobiliarios wants to link my name to the sale of some villas they have in Altos de Valderrama. For me, it is something that I have been devoted to my entire life, but I believe that it is a great project where we can link prop-

La Dolfina manejó el encuentro con autoridad y dejó buenos goles de padre e hijo, que lograron un claro triunfo sobre La Esquina, que se mostró muy fuerte en la marca en los primeros tres parciales, con un Iñaki Laprida como su mejor valor en la jornada.

En este torneo, cuya fase de inscripciones se cerró el pasado 28 de octubre, se contó un total de 116 jugadores integradas en 29 equipos de 4 participantes cada uno, bajo la modalidad Individual Stableford y categoría única, limitado exclusivamente a mayores de 18 años. La competición se inició a las 9.00 horas del sábado 5 de no-

Nico Almagro hace vibrar con su tenis a La Reserva Club de Sotogrande La Reserva Club Sotogrande sorprendió a toda la comunidad con la visita del exjugador Nico Almagro, convirtiéndose de ese modo en embajador del Country Club de referencia del sur de Europa. Durante el fin de semana del 21 al 23 de octubre, el Racquet Centre de La Reserva Club acogió en sus pistas a uno de los tenistas más importantes de la “generación de oro” del tenis español, en la que se encuentran grandes personalidades como Juan Carlos Ferrero, Carlos Moyá, David Ferrer o Rafael Nadal.

El palmarés de Nico Almagro le hace entrar de lleno en la historia del tenis, y es que a lo largo de su carrera deportiva acumuló nada menos que 13 títulos ATP. Todo ello le sirvió para alcanzar la novena posición en el ranking ATP en 2011 y mantenerse entre los 15 mejores tenistas del mundo durante cuatro años.

Finca Cortesín estrenará un espectacular hoyo 1 para la Solheim Cup 2023 El ambiente que se vive en el hoyo 1 de la Solheim Cup es algo que no tiene parangón con ningún otro torneo de golf. La atmósfera y los decibelios que crean las dos aficiones -europea y americana- con cánticos, música y colores, hacen que, en ese momento, el espectáculo se traslade a la grada.

Por ese motivo, las tres partes implicadas en la organización del evento: Ladies European Tour, Deporte & Business y Finca Cortesín, coincidieron en que el hoyo 1 de la Solheim Cup 2023 debía ser un lugar donde no solo pudiera reunirse un gran número de espectadores, sino que al mismo tiempo fuera todo un reto para las golfistas y un espectáculo sin igual.

Y ese lugar existía, pero no era el hoyo 1 original del recorrido, sino el hoyo 4, de manera que los responsables de Finca Cortesín, con Vicente Rubio, su director general a la cabeza, se pusieron manos a la obra para llevar a cabo los cambios necesarios.

De esta manera, el nuevo hoyo 1 de la Solheim Cup 2023 es ahora un par 4 de 256 metros, con un gran lago en

la parte izquierda que llega hasta la entrada del green, una calle estrecha y bien protegida, y un green amplio pero movido.

“Es un acierto haber hecho este cambio. Las características del nuevo hoyo 1 para la Solheim Cup 2023 nos permitirán situar a más de mil personas en la grada sobre el tee de salida, lo que hará que haya un gran am-

biente. Creo que es el hoyo preciso y perfecto para iniciar una Solheim Cup”, señaló Vicente Rubio.

“Este hoyo es, como se suele decir en el argot golfístico, un hoyo de riesgo y recompensa, ya que las jugadoras pueden intentar llegar a green de un golpe o jugar de una forma más conservadora. El diseño del hoyo y la

gran diferencia de altura que hay entre el tee de salida y el green hará que sea todo un espectáculo, y no tengo duda de que será un éxito”, concluyó.

Quién ha podido jugar ya este hoyo ha sido Suzann Pettersen, la capitana europea, quién con nueve participaciones en la Solheim Cup, sabe muy bien lo que se siente cuando una ju-

gadora se prepara para dar ese primer golpe.

“Las sensaciones que se experimentan no tienen nada que ver con otros momentos que se pueden vivir en el golf, como liderar un grande, porque en este torneo no sólo juegas por ti, lo haces por tus compañeras, por tu equipo... Pones todo tu corazón en ello y quieres dar lo mejor de ti. Ese primer tee de la Solheim Cup es todo adrenalina y energía”, confesó Pettersen.

Stacey Lewis, la capitana estadounidense, también ha tenido ocasión de comprobar las características del nuevo hoyo 1 de Finca Cortesín y no dudó en alabar su elección: “Creo que nunca hemos tenido un hoyo 1 como éste en la Solheim Cup. Se puede llegar a green pero el agua entra bastante en juego”.

Así mismo, Lewis también destacó la forma del tee de este hoyo, ya que “es como un anfiteatro, las gradas van a estar en alto, prácticamente encima de ti, lo que hará que se sienta al público muy cerca. Sin duda, es un gran hoyo para la Solheim Cup”, finalizó.

The atmosphere and noise levels created by the two sets of fans -European and American- with chants, music and colours, mean that, at that point, the spectacle moves to the stands.

Therefore, the three parties involved in organising the event: Ladies European Tour, Deporte & Business and Finca Cortesín, agreed that the 1st hole at the Solheim Cup 2023 not only had to be a place where a large number of spectators could gather, it also had to be real challenge for gol-

fers and an unparalleled spectacle.

And that place existed, but it wasn´t the original 1st hole of the course, but rather hole 4, so the management of Finca Cortesín, led by its director general Vicente Rubio, got to work to undertake the necessary changes.

Thus, the new 1st hole at the Solheim Cup 2023 is now a 256-metre long par 4, with a large lake on the left which goes to the start of the green, a narrow and well-shielded fairway, and a wide but rolling green.

“Making this change was the right decision. The characteristics of the new 1st hole for the 2023 Solheim Cup will allow us to put more than

one thousand people in the stand overlooking the start tee, which will create a great atmosphere. I think that it is the necessary and perfect hole for starting a Solheim Cup” stated Vicente Rubio. “This hole is, in the terms normally used in golfing slang, a risk and reward hole, as players can try to reach the green in a single shot or play more conservatively. The design of the hole and the big difference in height between the stating tee and the green will make it a real spectacle, and I have no doubts that it will be a success” he concluded. Someone who has already been able

to play this hole is Suzann Pettersen, the European captain, who, with nine appearances at the Solheim Cup, really knows what it feels like to get ready to hit that first shot. “The feelings you experience have nothing to do with other moments you can experience in golf, such as leading a major, because in this tournament you don´t only play for yourself, you do so for your teammates, for your team... You put all of your heart into it and you want to give your best. That first tee at the Solheim Cup is complete adrenaline and energy” confessed Pettersen.

Stacey Lewis, the American captain, also had the chance to see the characteristics of the new 1st hole at Finca Cortesín and did not hesitate to praise its selection: “I don´t think we have ever had a 1st hole like this at the Solheim Cup. It is possible to reach the green but the water comes into play quite a lot”.

Likewise, Lewis also highlighted the shape of the tee at this hole, as it “is like an amphitheatre, the stands are going to be up high, practically above you, which will make the crowd feel very close. It is undoubtedly a great hole for the Solheim Cup” he concluded.

Buen golf, gran ambiente y un Real Club Valderrama tan de excelencia como siempre. El extraordinario registro de 19 goles bajo el PAR (265) de Adrián Otaegui le hacen ingresar con honores en la historia del emblemático campo y le sirven para imponerse con una rotundidad indiscutible en esta edición 2022 del 2022 del Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters. El vasco mostró su

perfil más sólido para no dar opciones a sus rivales en la jornada final que si tuvo mucha emoción por completar el ‘Top 5’ en el que se coló el malagueño Ángel Hidalgo tras una semana que difícilmente olvidará.

Todo un recital de golf de gran nivel por parte del ‘Pirata Otaegui’ que se deshacía en elogios al término del torneo en felicitaciones a todo el staff del Real

Club Valderrama, voluntarios, compañeros en la competición y de manera muy especial al público que no paró de apoyarlo y auparlo en las dos jornadas finales hasta conseguir ese casi inalcanzable -19 en Valderrama.

Gran papel también del sueco Lagergren (-13), en segunda posición, seguido del australiano Lee (-10), una de las grandes

sensaciones del torneo y uno de los jugadores más seguidos por los aficionados durante todo el fin de semana. Mención especial para Hildalgo y ese gran cuarto puesto en solitario.

El resto de la ‘Armada’ corrió peor suerte: Sebastián García Rodríguez (14º), Nacho Elvira y Pep Anglés (21º), Jorge Campillo (50º); Ángel Ayora, Gonzalo

Fernández-Castaño y Santiago Tarrío (55º), Pedro Oriol (61º) y Pablo Larrazábal (65º).

Good golf, a great atmosphere and a Real Club Valderrama as excellent as always. The extraordinary record of 19 shots under par (265) by Adrián Otaegui made him enter with honours into the history of the iconic course and dominate in unquestionably resounding style at the 2022 edition of the Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters at Valderrama. The Basque player showed his strongest side to give his rivals no chance on the final dat which did have a lot of excitement to make it into the Top 5, which the Malaga player Ángel Hidalgo made it into after a week that will be difficult to forget.

A real masterclass of high-level golf by ‘Pirata Otaegui’ who had lots of praise at the end of the tournament, congratulating all the staff from Real Club Valderrama, volunteers, colleages at the competition, and especially the crowds that did not stop supporting him and raising his spirits on the two final days until he obtained that almost unachievable -19 at Valderrama.

There was also a great performance by the Swede Lagergren (-13), in second place, followed by the Australian Lee (-10), one of the great sensations of the tournament and one of the players most followed by fans during the entire weekend. A special mention goes to Hidalgo and that great fourth place held alone.

El guipuzcoano jugó de forma magistral toda la semana y, en la jornada decisiva, no tuvo rival para llevarse la victoria más prestigiosa de su carrera, con la que se mete entre los cien mejores del ranking mundial y los diez primeros del DP World Tour (noveno). Juego brillante, especialmente en los greenes, y fidelidad absoluta a su hoja de ruta han sido las claves del camino al éxito esta semana porque, “la mejor improvisación es la que está preparada”, aseguró.

“No sé cómo lo he hecho, la semana ha salido redonda. Quizá es el año que ha hecho menos viento, los greenes estaban más receptivos y el campo estaba más asequible.

Cuando juegas bien parece más fácil. Me he encontrado muy bien en los greenes, visualizando muy bien las caídas”, añadió. El Estrella Damm N.A Andalucía Masters es el

El malagueño completó una increíble semana en la que demostró que merece ser jugador de pleno derecho en el Tour. Sufrió lo indecible para conseguir su objetivo, siempre arropado por el público; para acabar finalmente cuarto.

“Lo he pasado muy mal por el campo, sobre todo a partir del bogey del 9. Mi plan era hacer pares y aguantar, pero después del bogey del 12 se me ha hecho un poco largo. El par del 15 ha sido clave, me ha dado la vida”.

En los últimos hoyos, Hidalgo no ha podido esconder la emoción que le producía acercarse a su objetivo de asegurar la tarjeta para la próxima

temporada.

“Desde el green del 16 he estado llorando… nos lo merecíamos. Llevo 20 años luchando por jugar aquí y los primeros años de pro fueron duros. En el Alps Tour tuve que hacer un quinto puesto en el último torneo para aguantar la tarjeta y en el segundo año, con el Covid, solo subieron al Challenge tres jugadores en lugar de cinco, yo quedé quinto. Me veía capaz de aspirar a mucho más. El año pasado me quedé a un golpe de sacar la tarjeta del Tour. Ha sido un cúmulo de momentos, de circunstancias, mucho trabajo y por fin lo hemos conseguido”, explicó.

But, above all, it is a dream come true. “Valderrama is my favourite course in Spain and now it is part of my story. I am very happy because my first victory at home was at Valderrama” he stated.

In the last few holes, Hidalgo was unable to hide the emotion caused by getting closer to ensuring his card for next

season.

“I was crying from the green of the 16th hole…. we deserved it. I have battling for 20 years to play here and the first years as a pro were tough. On the Alps Tour I had to get a fifth place at the final tournament to keep the card and in the second year, with Covid, only three players went up to the Challenge tour instead of five, I finished fifth. I saw I was capable of aiming for much more. Last year, I was a shot away from getting the Tour card. There has been a lot of moments, lots of situations, lots of work and we have finally achieved it” he explained.

Hidalgo y Campillo imparten un clinic a jóvenes de La Cañada Golf Durante la celebración del Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters, los españoles Ángel Hidalgo y Jorge Campillo impartieron en la sede del torneo, Valderrama, un curso intensivo para 25 alumnos y alumnas de la Escuela Municipal de Golf de La Cañada que impulsó la Diputación de Cádiz. Además de compartir consejos y trucos con sus jóvenes pupilos, ambos jugadores profesionales se maravillaron con la habilidad y el talento de sus alumnos.

En lo estrictamente deportivo, hay que destacar que ayer los jugadores españoles tuvieron una actuación muy destacada, ya que once han conseguido pasar el corte. Entre los que lo lograron se encuentra el joven sanroqueño Ángel Ayora, en su primer torneo como profesional.
