The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced that the California Office of the Small Business Advocate (CalOSBA) is being awarded $10M to support small business growth through the federal State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) Investing in America Small Business Opportunity Program (SBOP).
With this new funding provided through SBOP, CalOSBA plans to provide 5,000 additional business-owners with 1:1 counseling and training. The office also anticipates developing at least 200 training events, and supporting eligible beneficiaries to obtain a capital infusion of $250M in total capital through a combination of non-dilutive capital, bonding capital, debt capital, as well as angel and venture capital.

Congratulations to La Familia and all our superstar nonprofit, government, and community service providers in Hayward for putting on an insightful and inspirational Eden Area Behavioral Health Summit on October 10.
The special report “Abriendo Caminos: Tackling the Latinx Clinical Workforce Gaps in the Bay Area” not only highlights the impact of workforce problems but brings forth solutions One key takeaway from CEO Aaron Ortiz and the panel that resonated with us - we need everyone who is interested in the overall prosperity of our region to be engaged in behavioral health and showing up for the community.

INNOVATIONINACTIONAT ADVANCEDMANUFACTURINGDAY
The Hayward Chamber of Commerce staff had the pleasure of attending Advanced Manufacturing Day at Chabot College on Friday, October 18. Congratulations to Dean Tracey Coleman of the Applied Technology and Business Department and her exceptional team for organizing the event.
Panelists from leading local organizations such as Tesla, Construction Trades Workforce Initiative (CTWI), Torani, and Eric F. Anderson Inc. (EFA) shared insights into the pressing challenges facing their industries, particularly the critical shortage of skilled workers. Chabot College President Jamal Cook, Chancellor Ronald P. Gerhard, and Dr. Coleman’s department are tackling these workforce needs through innovative curriculum, dedicated faculty, and cutting-edge technology.
The event welcomed over 300 local high school students, who had the opportunity to tour manufacturing facilities and explore the diverse programs and career pathways available at Chabot College.
