Oregon Agricultural Trust

OAT completed our first easement project on Forest Edge Vineyard, a 47-acre, sustainably managed farm and forest with a vineyard, fruit orchard, and vegetable crops in Clackamas County. As a new land trust, this is a significant accomplishment representing several stages of preparation including the development of a Farm and Ranch Protection Plan which elucidates our conservation priorities and the creation of an Oregon ag-specific easement template. The Forest Edge property is adjacent to land zoned rural residential and the easement ensures the land will be farmed in perpetuity and could influence nearby producers to consider protecting their land as well. If the easement is ever transferred from OAT, the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde have the first right to receive the easement.
