The Farmlink Project
The Farmlink Project was founded in April 2020 in response to the pandemic, which had exposed flaws in our food system, causing millions of American families to face a new reality of food insecurity, all while billions of pounds of fresh food rotted in fields. With the help of early supporters like the Harbourton Foundation, The Farmlink Project was able to hire experienced full time staff to begin to scale our operations, develop our innovative software solution, grow our food program, remain focused on sustainability and policy and develop relationships with farmers and donors. As an organization that began as a small group of college students driving U-Hauls full of food from farm to food banks, support from our funders has given us the ability to rescue over one million pounds of produce every single week that would have gone to waste. Since our inception, The Farmlink Project has rescued 100 million pounds of food from going to waste, and prevented 17,346 metric tons of CO2 equivalent emissions by keeping perfectly good produce out of landfills.
