It’s been a great pleasure to have coach this team over the last 6 Years. These boys continuously work hard collectively as a team, as Jimmy (Assistant Coach) and I continue to develop the boys through the older age groups.

AFC Stoneham enters the 2024/25 season with over 130 teams and 1,600 players, continuing a proud journey that began in 1919 as Royal Engineers (Ordnance Survey Office) FC, founded by WWI soldiers. The club evolved through various identities and leagues, eventually becoming AFC Stoneham in 2007. That year, they won the Hampshire Premier League and began a period of sustained growth and success. Key to their progress was a strong youth development policy, with teams from juniors to veterans and the addition of a ladies team in 2015. The club gained national attention in 2018/19 during its first-ever FA Cup
run and was crowned Wessex Division One champions the same season, earning promotion to the Wessex Premier League. Despite COVID disruptions, the club consistently challenged for promotion, finishing 5th, 3rd, and 2nd in recent years. A thrilling 2023/24 FA Cup run included a dramatic 5-4 comeback against Basingstoke and a tie at Yeovil Town. Now based at a state-of-theart £10m facility, AFC Stoneham looks ahead with ambition and optimism.

12 months on and we find ourselves back in the final of the Hampshire Cup.
We’ve had a great season to date, with the players working hard with the transition to 11 a side.
Like each season, the team has grown and continued to achieve. It’s always a pleasure working with such good players who have huge respect for one another and their football.
R
As a manger, you always dedicate your time to running the team, but along with a great assistant, parents and players, it’s been nothing but a smooth journey.
It’s the boys’ time to enjoy the occasion and be proud to wear the purple shirt and enjoy what will be a great match with Hamble who we’ve shared many big matches with in the past.
James S Team Captain
I began my journey with Stoneham back in 2021. Since then we’ve grown both as individuals and as a team, achieving amazing milestones, including retaining the Tyro Division One league title after a challenging season against some of Hampshire’s top teams.
As the defending champions of the Hampshire Cup, making it back to the final is an incredible achievement and a reflection of the effort, and dedication within the squad.
Away from the pitch, we are all great teammates and friends. The team thrives under our brilliant manager, Jon Gibbens, and his assistant, Jon Shrive. They have developed our skills and teamwork to help us to where we are today.
Looking ahead to the final against Hamble we’re excited to face a familiar opponent we’ve had many great battles with over the years. We are looking forward to another competitive and exciting game.
It is an honour to be leading such a great team. We’re set to give it everything and hopefully bring the Hampshire cup back home once again!
Hamble Club Football Club, affectionately known as "The Monks," was established in 1969 by John Foster and three other local residents as a youth team in Hamble-le-Rice, Hampshire. The club initially competed in the Southampton Junior and Senior Leagues before joining Division Three of the Hampshire League in 1993. They clinched the Division Three title in the 1996–97 season, securing promotion to Division Two.
In 2004, the Hampshire League merged into the Wessex League, and Hamble Club became part of the newly formed Division Three. The division was renamed Division Two in 2006, but following its dissolution in 2007 the club became a founding member of the Hampshire Premier League.
The 2012–13 season saw Hamble Club withdraw mid-season, leading to their records being expunged. They were readmitted the following season into Division One of the Hampshire Premier League, finishing as runners-up in 2013–14 and earning promotion to the Senior Division. The club won the Senior Division title in 2014–15.In 2016–17, Hamble Club secured the Wessex League Division One championship, leading to promotion to the Premier Division, where they continue to compete. Their home matches are played at The Abbey in Hamble-le-Rice. The club has also achieved notable runs in national competitions, reaching the Preliminary Round of the FA Cup in the 2018–19 season and advancing to the Fifth Round of the FA Vase in 2017–18.
Our cat in the sticks, with hands as quick as lightning and great distribution! But sometimes he forgets he’s a goalkeeper and thinks he’s the last man in defence Don’t be surprised if you see him clearing it from halfway!
We call him Harry Reberto Carlos never pulls out of a challenge, even if it’s against a brick wall With the heart of a lion, he charges into every tackle like it’s his last
My son, and I couldn’t be prouder of his development! A right-back with great passing ability And on rare occasions, he delivers a knockout blow less we talk about that the better.
Rapid centre-back who’s improved massively this season Reads the game well, tackles hard, and somehow sprints like a winger Strikers think they’re in until Trey turns on the jets. Fast enough to chase down rumours before they spread!
Defender
Built like a centre-back at 23, not 13! Calm as you like on the ball, never rushed Opponents bounce off him like pinballs.
Captain fantastic at just 13, leading like he’s been doing it for decades Organises the squad, reads the game brilliantly. True monk.
A midfield maestro with passing ability that could find a thread through the eye of a needle! He sees passes no one else does sometimes even before the ball is played.
Our brilliant vice-captain. Always positive, always smiling, Leads by example with a top attitude.
Skills for days and a smile that could distract defenders! Glides past players like they’re cones in training, then grins like he’s just won the lottery Defenders dread him but can’t help smiling back
Like a pint-sized pitbull with rocket boosters! Nonstop energy, fearless in every tackle, and faster than Usain Bolt after a double espresso Blink and he’s either scoring or sliding sometimes both Small in size, massive in impact!
Once looked like a young Messi, great pace and great attitude
Like a Duracell battery on turbo mode, he never stops running Relentless energy If we could bottle his stamina, we’d win every cup… and power the floodlights!
A raw, street-style baller with energy for days and skills to match Bags of potential
A striker with the pace of a race car and the power of a freight train! A true goal machine, always firing shots at goal Defenders dread him, and goalkeepers have nightmares Just don’t blink he’s already scored!
R Ricky Dugdale Team Manager
Firstly, I want to congratulate both Hamble Club U13s and Stoneham U13s on reaching the Hampshire Cup Final.
It’s a fantastic achievement, and having two teams from the same area face off in the final is a massive testament to the strength of grassroots football in Southampton.
This final is dedicated to Simon Watts, whose impact on football and those around him will never be forgotten. His passion and dedication have left a lasting legacy, and today’s match is a fitting tribute to everything he stood for.
R
To both teams, enjoy the occasion, play with pride, and showcase the talent that has brought you this far. Moments like these don’t come around often, so embrace it, give your all, and most importantly, enjoy the game.
R Jake B Team Captain
It’s been an absolute honour to captain such a great team this season. Every single player has given their all, supported each other, and worked hard to get us to this cup final.
We’ve had ups and downs, some tough games and some amazing wins, but through it all we’ve stuck together like a proper team should.
Being able to lead this group of lads has meant so much to me – not just because of the football we’ve played, but because of the friendships we’ve built and the laughs we’ve shared along the way.
To lift this trophy would be a massive achievement and something we’ll all remember for a long time. We’ve earned our place in this final, and now it’s time to give everything we’ve got and enjoy the moment.
Let’s play for each other, back each other, and give it everything until the final whistle. One last push, boys...
...let’sbringithome!
The Winchester Football Club was founded in 1884 as a result of the endeavours of two residents of the city – Oxford graduate and former
England Rugby cap Charles Sylvester Wooldridge and Huntingdon-born all-round sportsman (and, incidentally, inventor of ice hockey!) Arnold Tebbutt.
The football club, which had strong links with Winchester College, made quite an impact in the early years of association football in Hampshire, reaching the final of the inaugural Hampshire Senior Cup competition in 1888 and providing a number of players to represent Hampshire in county-based competitions. However financial difficulties, combined with the indifference of Winchester residents, led to the 1884 club folding in 1893. The decline of the city’s most high-profile club left a void that was subsequently to be filled by the Winchester Swallows FC
Formed in 1891, the Swallows were less socially exclusive than the 1884 club and had a membership more reflective of that of Winchester as a whole. The club changed its name to Winchester FC at the start of the start of the 1894/95 season, and again in 1907 when it became Winchester City FC. Like the 1884 club, the Swallows appeared in a dark blue and white strip and played their home games at Bar End, before moving in 1896 to a field adjoining the Old Red Deer pub in Stockbridge Road, and relocating again to the Roebuck Inn in 1902.
