It’s a real honour to captain our team in the Hampshire Cup Final. I began my journey with AFC Totton in 2022 and since then I have never looked back, as we have grown both as individuals and as a team. On and off the field we are a group of friends who battle, protect and support each other.
This season, through teamwork, determination and resilience we have had the privilege of being crowned both the JPL South Coast 1 League and JPL Vase National Cup Champions. Having gone on a 28 game unbeaten run which now also see’s us competing for the honour of being crowned Hampshire Cup Champions and treble winners.

I would like to express our thanks to the coaches and our parents as without you all we would not have been able to taste the success we have as a team this season.
Sholing FC, known as "The Boatmen", traces its roots to 1884, originally as Thornycrofts (Woolston). They famously held First Division Burnley to a draw in the 1920 FA Cup First Round. After several reformations, the club re-emerged in 1960 as Vosper Thornycroft FC, enjoying league promotions and cup successes. Rebranded VTFC in 2003, they became dominant in the Southampton Senior Cup and reached the Southern League. In 2010, following the closure of the VT Group, the club adopted the Sholing name.
The pinnacle came in 2014, winning the FA Vase at Wembley. After fluctuating league fortunes, they earned promotion to Step 3 for the first time in 2022/23. In 2023/24, Dave Diaper ended a 25-year tenure, with Paul Doswell taking charge. Infrastructure improvements followed, including a new stand and clubhouse upgrades. From humble beginnings to national silverware, Sholing FC continues to grow both on and off the pitch.

I want to take a moment to express how proud I am of the Sholing players, coaches, parents, and everyone connected to the team. We are incredibly excited to be in the final after a long, challenging, but rewarding season.
This team has grown and developed so much in the two years we have been together. We have a fantastic group of players whose talent is matched by their willingness to learn and determination to improve. We have become a tight and ambitious outfit and I am excited to see what the future holds.
We know we’re up against good opposition and fully respect the quality that AFC Totton bring. But we’re focused on ourselves—on playing our football and showing the determination and identity that Sholing is all about.
Good luck to both teams let’s enjoy the occasion, and may the best team win.

This is my first full season with Sholing and what a season it’s been. As well as reaching the Hampshire Cup final, we also secured promotion after a successful league campaign, and reached the quarter finals of the JPL Cup.
Everyone has played their part in what has been achieved so far and it’s amazing to top it off by playing in the Hampshire Cup final.
I love playing for Sholing. We have a fantastic group of players and coaches, and together we have a great team spirit. We never give up, and will always keep going to the final whistle.
I’m very proud to captain this team and look forward to leading us out for the Hampshire Cup final.
I know we will give everything to bring this trophy home!
