Before turning to our 2025 outlook, we need to pay our respects to Tom Poulton, the ‘founder’ of the Haileybury Foundation. Having written last year about what Tom meant to the Foundation, and mindful of the tributes in January from the School and from the OHA, I shall keep my words brief. Tom ‘founded’ this Foundation after many years of successive leadership groups procrastinating. He was its inaugural Chair (2010-14), a regular donor
inception in 2023, Haileybury Pangea, Australia’s leading online school, has been recognised for its Best Student Wellbeing and Best Remote Learning programs.
Community support for the Haileybury Pangea Scholarship program is vital in extending these transformative educational opportunities to students from rural, regional, and diverse communities. By donating, alumni help reduce geographical barriers, provide access to a high level of education, foster future leadership, promote diversity, expand educational choices and support the inaugural foundation scholarship. This collective effort ensures that deserving students can benefit from a world-class education, regardless of their location or circumstances.
The Haileybury Pangea Scholarships, set to commence in 2026, aim to provide exceptional educational opportunities to students from rural, regional, and diverse communities who might otherwise lack access to Haileybury’s world-class education. Alumni support is crucial in making this vision a reality.
and a passionate supporter. Tom remained a board member, donor and passionate supporter until 2023 – in short, this Foundation would not be the same (or at all) without him. Vale Tom Poulton.
In turning to 2025 and beyond, I reiterate what we spoke about in 2024: the work of the Haileybury Foundation is vital for our great School. While Haileybury has long been a leader in education, the lack of a founding endowment, starting as a family-owned institution, has meant that the Foundation’s current and future role is critical. Through prudent investment and a focus on helping the most deserving students, we are ensuring that Haileybury continues to thrive for generations to come.
During our Board meeting, we discussed and set our Key Performance Indicators for the year, as well as formulating new and ambitious plans that connect to the key ideas from our 2024 Strategic Forum. We look forward to sharing these plans and ideas with you as the year unfolds.

From the Vice Principal
Scott Doran
The Haileybury Foundation was founded in 2010 by Haileybury and its Council. It is a company limited by guarantee and is administered by its Board. The dayto-day activities are supported by the Vice Principal Community Engagement & Advancement, the Director of School Development & Alumni Relations and the Development Office, all of whom are members of the Haileybury staff. The primary purpose of the Foundation is to change lives forever by providing financial and other assistance to the School to assist in attaining the vision for Haileybury to be recognised as a great world school.
Foundation Board Members:
Neil Sutcliffe - Chairman
The Haileybury community is caring, involved and generous. We are deeply grateful for the many gifts provided by Old Haileyburians, parents both current and past, grandparents, staff and friends. This support has assisted in preserving and developing the facilities of the School and is helping to pursue our vision in education.
Like many independent schools, Haileybury depends on the support of the entire community – school fees and government grants alone do not support new capital projects, major maintenance and restoration of existing buildings or the ongoing support and enhancement of the School’s scholarships and bursary programs.
While much has been achieved during the past 15 years, we are now looking to secure the future of our School, ensuring its relevance and optimisation into its second century. Our focus is now on the renewal of our Brighton campus and the Haileybury Rendall School campus in Darwin, with work underway on planning

and developing the transformation of the School’s infrastructure.
In 2024, the Foundation received funds of $1,559,687 including investment returns and interest. These were generous gifts from parents, alumni and friends of Haileybury and came in the form of regular contributions, one-off donations and voluntary building contributions.
A highlight for the Foundation in previous months has been the breakfasts and luncheons held at each campus, where we have been given the opportunity to thank the generous members of our community who have contributed to the Scholarship Fund or the Voluntary Building Fund. It has been a joy to present those in attendance with their Haileybury Foundation Badge. I look forward to seeing many of these worn at future events.
The Haileybury Foundation is led by a skilled board of volunteers and advisors.
