HAILEYBURY PRESENTS
When we last came together on the Aikman stage, we explored the beautiful and complex relationship between mother and daughter. Tonight, with Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (High School Edition), we step into a companion piece of sorts — this time centring on fathers and sons, and the tensions, love and reconciliation that come with those bonds. Both productions, in their own way, remind us of the extraordinary importance of friendship and how it sustains us when we encounter life’s obstacles.
Beyond the spells and spectacle of this play lies an important message about identity, acceptance and the courage to define ourselves. At Haileybury, empathy and respect are at the core of what we do. We stand firm in honouring the dignity of every member of our community, ensuring that the magic of theatre reflects a spirit of welcome and belonging.
Approaching such a beloved and iconic world is a daunting task, but The Cursed Child has been a delicious challenge. Our creative vision has been to honour the original narrative while also exploring a unique aesthetic of our own.
Every costume has been carefully altered, adorned and tailored to bring our characters to life. Our talented cast has poured extraordinary heart, imagination and courage into balancing reverence for the story audiences know and love with their own discoveries and interpretations.
What a whirlwind it has been. The professional production of The Cursed Child spans over six hours. Here, we condense the story into just two. In the first seven minutes alone, three years fly by, and ten different locations burst onto the stage. This ambitious pace has demanded precision, resilience and creativity from our cast and crew, who have risen to the challenge with unrelenting energy. Every swift change, every transformation and every magical moment is a testament to their dedication.
We invite you to journey with us — beyond the magic — to the heart of the story: one of friendship, family, identity and the power of acceptance. Enjoy.

Thank you to Head of Performing Arts Rodney Marshall and the Haileybury Executive Team for their support of this ambitious production.
A performance like this requires an army of volunteers and a large community with goodwill to spare. We thank Haileybury’s Facilities Team, our Marketing Department, our Prefect Ushers and all those who contributed to this production.
Thank you for the magic. We were lucky enough to work with the wonderful magician and illusionist Lee Cohen whose passion for the art and sense of play was simply a joy.
We also thank parents and guardians for their dedicated support of our cast and school. The early Sunday morning dropoffs and late Friday evening pick-ups are much appreciated.
