Impact & Updates for Supporters

A note from our Girl Scout sister, Velma Vaughan

I have been an active member of Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana for over 50 years. I started as a Junior in the 5th grade and never looked back I've been a leader of a troop that at one point had 40+ girls and 8 of which stayed through 12th grade, a trainer, a Service Unit Manager, a Day Camp Director, Chair of 3 K t ki D ti ti t

My older girls went on multiple Destinations, traveled, became camp counselors and now some are Girl Scout leaders themselves

But the reason I am still an active member is not because of what I do or have done, but what Girl Scouts has done for me and for th eople and girls I have been eged to know and work My sisters in Girl Scouting hat keeps me. The ladies, and some men too) are my ation, my friends are my r. Seeing what they do and mplish to help young women and become confident, geous, capable people is ng but amazing

s where I've seen girls learn o become confident, learn s they may never have had a e to anywhere else, like ry, camping, canoeing, rock ing, aviation, financial cy, engineering and and travel to exciting s, Europe, Savannah, ia, New York City, the agos.

They have been inspired to become doctors, nurses, teachers, pilots, engineers, artists, programmers, members of Congress you name it. I've seen this too in adults...they start as unsure, overwhelmed leaders and become strong influential role models for girls and young adults. What more could you ask for!

My family and I will continue to support Girl Scouting with time and money as long as we are able and invite you to do the same. I've always believed if I've helped one girl grow to her potential I've accomplished something wonderful and my time and money as a Girl Scout has been well spent

The first planned gift in the Girl Scout Movement came from our founder, Juliette Gordon Low. After converting the carriage house of her home into the first Girl Scout national headquarters, she gifted the property to Girl Scouts in her will. Become a member of the Juliette Gordon Low Society and carry on her legacy by making Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana a beneficiary of your estate plans.

The Art of Girl Scouting: A Celebration of Impact at Our Annual Donor Event

We had a wonderful time sharing our successes and gratitude with our Girl Scout friends at the 2025 Donor Appreciation Event on March 20. A special thanks to KMAC Contemporary Art Museum for hosting our event and celebrating the arts with us. Our donors’ generosity fuels our mission to empower girls with courage, confidence, and character, shaping a brighter future for all.
