Where were you born: At Prato hospital, but first I lived in Narnali and then for a while in Santa Lucia. Where do you live: In London. In Barnes, in a house on the river opposite the finish line of the regatta between Oxford and Cambridge. Behind Richmond Park, we are surrounded by greenery but ten minutes from Harrods. What do you do: Textile representative, almost all Italian. Mainly from Prato. They are friends, not just clients: the Bellandi, Comatex, Nero Su Nero, Cangioli, RossoForte, Torre and others. We work with top-of-the range brands like Paul Smith and Burberry, but also for widely distributed brands like Whistles, French Connection, Karen Millen, Jigsaw, Top Shop and Marks&Spencer. What do you remember about the city: The local recreational club in Narnali: whenever I come back, a game of cards there is a must. What did you like: The friends I grew up with, evenings making fun of each other at the Casa del Popolo. What you didn’t like: That Prato habit of wanting to know everything about everyone and changing your attitude depending on how things go. Here in London everyone thinks about themselves. In Prato. While things are ok everyone’s friends but when the wind changes... Would you like to come back: For the moment no. I won’t hide that in the future I’d like a house in the Tuscan countryside. For now my life and my family are here: my wife Jo and my four sons. The eldest, Niccolò and Tommaso, live between Narnali and London. Then there’s Eliot, who’s nearly ten and Tobias, two Do you have any of the typical characteristics of Prato people: I like their love of funny one-liners, a capacity to see the funny side even in the complicated situations. My English friends, sterling characters at work, like me for this.

Alberto Frilli (nella foto) Nato a: All’ospedale di Prato, ma ho vissuto prima a Narnali e poi per un breve periodo a Santa Lucia. Dove abiti: A Londra. A Barnes, in una casa sul Tamigi proprio di fronte all’arrivo della storica regata tra Oxford e Cambridge. Dietro Richmond Park: in pratica viviamo nel verde ma a dieci minuti da Harrods. Che lavoro fai: Rappresentante di tessuti, quasi tutti italiani. Per la maggior parte pratesi. Clienti ma anche amici: Bellandi, la Comatex, Nero Su Nero, Cangioli, RossoForte, la Torre e tante altre. Lavoriamo con brand di fascia alta come Paul Smith, Burberry, ma anche per marchi di grande diffusione: Whistles, French Connection, Karen Millen, Jigsaw. Top Shop, Marks&Spencer. Cosa ricordi della città: Il circolo di Narnali: ogni volta che torno in città una tappa al circolo per un ramino non può mancare. Cosa ti piaceva: Gli amici con i quali sono cresciuto, le serate passate a prendersi in giro alla Casa del Popolo Cosa non ti piaceva: Quel modo pratese di voler sapere tutto di tutti, e di cambiare modo di rapportarsi a seconda di come vanno le cose. Qui a Londra ognuno pensa soprattutto per sé. A Prato non succede e finchè le cose vanno bene tutti amici, ma poi, quando cambia il vento... Vorresti tornare: Per adesso no. Non ti nascondo che un domani mi piacerebbe avere casa nella campagna toscana. Per adesso la mia vita e la mia famiglia sono qui: mia moglie Jo e i miei quattro figli tutti maschi. I due più grandi Niccolò e Tommaso vivono tra Narnali e Londra. Poi ci sono Eliot, quasi dieci anni, e Tobias, due anni. Ammesso che la pratesità esista ne porti segni particolari: L’amore per la battuta, la capacità di sdrammatizzare anche nelle situazioni più complicate. Gli amici inglesi, tutti d’un pezzo sul lavoro, mi amano per questo.
