You’ll have to go back into the memory bank a li le bit for this next one. Remember Corey Pavin’s mustache? Pavin turned professional in 1982 with one of the greatest mustaches the game has ever seen. You don’t have to go very far to find the number five mustache on our countdown. This one is a no-brainer. Golf Saskatchewan President Moe Mar n has been wearing a mustache since his first days out of the womb (Seriously, I can’t find anyone who has seen him without it!) and wears it with style.

The number four mustache is simple but it’s one of the best. Craig Stadler has been wearing this mustache since he turned pro in 1976 and has since won 29 mes professionally. The Walrus was popular with the galleries and nicknamed because of his build and mustache.

CHANGES TO LIQUOR REGULATIONS WILL AFFECT THE GOLF INDUSTRY The provincial government is modernizing Saskatchewan’s liquor regula ons and included in the more than 70 changes is increased flexibility for golf courses. “The red tape review was done by a handful of MLA’s throughout the province,” said Corey Huber, manager of liquor licensing with the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority. “They went through all the liquor licensing things so everything from golf courses, to restaurants, they talk about stripping, all that kind of fun stuff.” Golf courses will now be allowed to determine the number of carts or kiosks on a golf course and the number of drinks to be served to patrons. Currently, the course is restricted to one cart or kiosk per nine holes and may only serve a maximum of two drinks per player per sale. “At the end of the day there were 77 changes that were made,” noted Huber. “They went through and they tried to look at things from

different points of view in terms of common business, what makes sense, things that were a lot of red tape in terms of applying for a liquor license. They went through everything, from what I’m told, behind closed doors, with a fine tooth comb.” Other notable change that will affect golfers and courses in Saskatchewan is that golf courses will be allowed to provide beer to golfers without opening it first. It is noted that it remains for consump on on the course only. “Absolutely, there’s no queson (that this is posi ve). I am one hundred per cent on board with these ideas here, especially for (the golf industry). I golf maybe three mes in the summer so I’m not the best patron for (the industry) by any means, but there’s been mes where the cart doesn’t come around nearly as o en as you would like. On a hot summer day you might like more than two beer at a me and spillage is always a factor (riding) in

the cart. So I think from (the golf) industry these changes should be pre y well received I would hope.”

Changes to liquor regulations in Saskatchewan will have an affect on the golf industry. Courses can now determine the number of beverage carts or kiosks on the course.
