You are invited to select your preferences the term before. We open the selection process for a couple of weeks towards the end of term. Once all the spaces have been allocated, you will receive an email confirming your child's activities.

Please remember that you aren't "booking" a place, but instead showing your preference for that activity. You can select as many preferences as you please in each time slot in ranking order.

It is important when doing this that you choose "No Activity" as your final preference.

If you are in Lodge, Aftercare will be available to book nearer the start of term.

In Main School, Form I-IVs, you are able to choose 'Supervised Prep' as an activity. The booking for this will be available at a later date, after preferences have been chosen and places on activities have been confirmed.

Nursery Activities

Little Movers

Little Movers is a structured class that is fun, interactive and educational. During our weekly classes we learn about rhythm, movement and expression as well as exploring lots of new songs and instruments.

Ballet*

Ballet classes are a well-established part of Godstowe's extracurricular timetable. Pupils are offered classes in Nursery, Lodge and Main School. Pupils follow the Royal Academy of Dancing syllabus and are prepared for presentation assessments and examinations where appropriate. Classes are fun and engaging, they take place on a Thursday.

Lodge Aftercare Club

Aftercare is a supervised play session available every day until 5.25pm.

Lodge Activities

Little Movers - Beginners only

Little Movers is a structured class that is fun, interactive and educational. During our weekly classes we learn about rhythm, movement and expression as well as exploring lots of new songs and instruments.

Sports and Exercise* - Kindergarten and Transition only

In our sessions we improve sporting characteristics by developing key underlying motor skills. We do this through: fun games, animal races, competitive challenges, team sports and more. In turn improving qualities such: as core strength, ball perception, hand eye coordination, motor planning, bilateral integration and sensory processing skills amongst other things. On there is an online movement membership that will help to further develop these qualities for all ages and abilities. This will be particularly helpful over the summer whilst away from regular sport. Here is a discount code for annual membership for all Godstowe parents “Godstowe 10”.

Judo*

Judo is a modern Olympic sport and self-defence system derived from the ancient art of Ju-Jitsu. It is very popular as a physical education and general fitness training method. Judo is in fact a fun 'sport for all' and can be enjoyed for personal pleasure and fun, or as a contest sport. Either way, it is almost unique in providing a wide range of benefits which include self-discipline, skill in co-ordination and a great way to build self-confidence. The school judo club offers professional coaching by Steve Hutton who is a 2nd Dan Black Belt.

Lodge Activities

Gymtastic Kidz*

Gymtastic Kidz is passionate about teaching gymnastics in a safe and nurturing environment. Each term the children have the opportunity to take part in a variety of events including in house competitions, displays and to work on a gymnastics badge We work on the core values of gymnastics which are flexibility, strength, balance and agility. The gymnasts will have the opportunity to learn basic floor skills and develop these into more challenging tricks when ready. We also use the vault, beam and trampette. Run by High Performance coach Sarah Fiander, who has over 25 years experience teaching gymnastics and a team of coaches.

Modern Dance/Jazz*

ISTD Modern Theatre dance classes are a fun and energetic style of dance, which improves flexibility, strength and coordination. There is particular focus on performance and confidence. Pupils follow the Imperial Society Teachers of Dancing syllabus and are prepared for presentation assessments and examinations where appropriate. Classes take place on a Tuesday, with specific grades being taught at different times. Classes are independently taught by Mrs Romy Hodges and her team.

Speech and Drama*

Lodge pupils are introduced to the performing arts taught after school by Performers-Circle. Our Speech and Drama classes are lots of FUN and focus on developing qualities and skills such as confidence, communication, creativity, imagination, memory and teamwork

Incorporating games and exercises to develop skills in movement, memory, rhythm, teamwork, confidence-building, communication, creativity, spatial-awareness and self-awareness through stories, poems, improvisation, short plays and theatre games.

Craft Club - Transition only

An opportunity to be creative and take part in a variety of fun activities including painting, clay modelling, hamma beads, paper craft and many more. Come and enjoy making some great items and develop your art and craft skills.

Recorder - Transition only

Everyone in Transition is welcome to join Lodge Recorder Club. We have fun playing familiar pieces and love exploring a variety of music. The club helps everyone become more fluent. Many of Godstowe's best musicians started their musical journey here. Come along and see...
