Sport
Sports clubs are an option for everyone. Most clubs are divided into year group sessions, for example U8 Netball. Please note there are two different types of Gymnastics clubs.
Judo*
Judo is a modern Olympic sport and self-defence system derived from the ancient art of Ju-Jitsu. It is very popular as a physical education and general fitness training method. Judo is in fact a fun 'sport for all' and can be enjoyed for personal pleasure and fun, or as a contest sport. Either way, it is almost unique in providing a wide range of benefits which include self-discipline, skill in co-ordination and a great way to build self-confidence. The school judo club offers professional coaching by Steve Hutton who is a 2nd Dan Black Belt.
Gymtastic Kids*
Gymtastic Kidz is passionate about teaching gymnastics in a safe and nurturing environment. Each term the children have the opportunity to take part in a variety of events including in house competitions, displays and to work on a gymnastics badge. We work on the core values of gymnastics which are flexibility, strength, balance and agility. The gymnasts will have the opportunity to learn basic floor skills and develop these into more challenging tricks when ready. We also use the vault, beam and trampette. Run by High Performance coach Sarah Fiander, who has over 25 years experience teaching gymnastics and a team of coaches.
Lacrosse Club
A great opportunity to develop your lacrosse skills and potentially prepare for matches. We are looking for girls who want to commit to improving their game play, fitness, agility and teamwork.
Sport
Netball Club
A great opportunity to develop your netball skills and have fun with your friends at the same time. We are looking for girls who want to commit to improving their game play, fitness, agility and to learning new tactics.
Upper School Free Swim
A good opportunity for Lower School girls to enjoy being in the water in a free play environment. With floats, balls and sinkers to use it is a great chance to build on your water confidence as well as have fun with your friends.
Swim Squad
A great environment to work on more technical aspects within swimming. Working on speed, stamina and strokes. Giving a more in depth insight into the competitive side of swimming. With the possibility of selection for galas throughout the academic year, girls will also learn about the etiquette of galas. A great chance to immerse yourself into the competitive side of swimming.
Gymnastics - Lunchtime club
Everyone is welcome to attend this mixed ability club which will help improve your skills and confidence level in gymnastics. On the floor and apparatus there will be challenges for gymnasts of all levels, from forward rolls to somersaults there will be fun for all. I am looking for committed participants who will also have the opportunity to be part of the Christmas display, choreographed to music for our lucky audience. You will be proud of what you achieve in a lunch time!
Sport
Upper School Football
Want to have fun? Improve your football skills? Run around with friends? Future Lioness? Want to represent the school and play against other teams? Never played before, but would like to try? Whatever your reason, level or confidence, you are more than welcome to join Football Club. We enjoy developing our football skills, in a fun, friendly, (and at times) competitive session. You could be the next Lauren James, Rachel Daly, or Sam Kerr. This popular club is growing and we’d like you to come and be a part of it. See you there!
Gymnastics Squad
Our elite gymnasts are selected to represent the school in various competitions throughout the year. The squad will develop their skills, alongside working as a team in group routines. School gymnastics is judged on precision, quality of movement, style and control. This talented and poised squad will also display their work in the Christmas display. Trials for this squad are open to every girl at Godstowe.
Upper School Hockey
An opportunity for Upper School girls to learn hockey and further develop their skills on a full sized Astro pitch.
Horse Riding*
Horse riding is offered to full boarders who are in the Upper School. Girls are assessed in their first lesson and put into teaching groups. Girls progress from complete beginners, learning the rudimentary skills (controlling their pony or horse in walk and trot) to cantering, jumping and basic dressage movements. Above all riding is a fun activity in a safe and approved environment.
