Growing up as a young soccer looking kid, every Saturday was always approached by ancipaon and excitement.
The ancipaon and excitement was orchestrated by the live radio football broadcasts from Nakivubo Staduim that endured every Saturday aernoon.
Radio broadcasng maestros such as charles Byekwaso and Francis Ojia (both late).
Graced the airwaves of Radio Uganda every Saturday with beauful commentaries.
Commentaries that endeared many young kids like myself to the love of ugandan football.
The commentaries in and unto themselves triggered the imaginaon of our young minds to desire football.
And many mes than not we wondered what it was like to be in the terraces of Nakivubo stadium.
Watching the great Ugandan football players in real me.
However in one or too many commentaries, there was one football player that stood tall among the so many.
The name of this football player was Steven Bogere.
Of course as a young kid in the early 1990s, you was never aware of the posion of any parcular player on the field of play.
But you was fascinated by the duraon of me the commentator spent talking about a parcular player in acon.
Steven Bogere was a unique football player.
And on several live radio commentaries you would hear Charles Byekwaso or Francis Ojia saying," Steven Bogere with the ball, Bogere with the ball, Bogere passes the ball to Bogere, Bogere with the ball......."
And as a kid listening to such a live broadcast you would say to yourself, ‘Bogere must be a unique player and an outstanding player on the field.’
Not only an outstanding player but a wizard of sorts
This was the thinking because how can steven Bogere with ball, make a pass and it goes to Bogere again unless they was some sort of magic at play.
Of course growing up we later realized that it was a dummy pass.
Undoubtedly, Steven Bogere was a master of dummy passes right in the middle of the park.
Arguably the best passer of the ball uganda has ever seen, steven Bogere was an aacking/ creave midfielder like no other.
Playing his best football at both SC Villa and the uganda naonal team, the number 8 belonged to no one but steven Bogere.
Rerement for Steven Bogere came in the mid 1990s.
And while in rerement, Steven Bogere met our
Lord and saviour Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ transformed Steven Bogere from an iconic football player to a preacher of the Gospel.
On the premise of his transformaon through Christ Jesus, Steven Bogere started preaching the Gospel in a ministry that was based in kawempe.
For years Steven Bogere was in acve ministry unl God thrust it upon his heart to go back to football and became a light for Jesus Christ.
As a kid i idolized a man: a football player; by just listening to his name being pronounced prominently on a live radio broadcast.
But i never knew how this man looked like in real life.
Interesngly enough, i followed up on my football desire and started playing the game.
While playing as a teenager, i came across two youthful men one was named Robert Lutalo and the other James Nyero.
They were brillant football players.
I admired their approach and passion for football.
For that reason , Lutalo and James become my friends and mentors.
Aer enrolling into secondary school, Lutalo and James took me to Tigers football club.
A club they played for even at the me that i met both of them while i was sll in primary school.
And guess what? As desny would have it i met Steven Bogere who had just been hired as the new team coach for Tigers club.
Here i was meeng my idol and not only that but i was going to be trained by a man i admired.
Just by listening to his Name being pronounced on a live radio broadcast.
With love, passion, integrity, and determinaon, steven Bogere served the Tigers club .
Till he would serve the club no more.
At Tigers club ,Steven Bogere pracced his calling in God.
A calling that required Bogere to use football as a plaorm from which to spread the gospel of Jesus.
Indeed steven Bogere ministered the gospel of Christ to all the members of Tigers club.
Thus using his football compeve advantage to lure the lost unto the saving grace of our Lord
Jesus.
Throughout his me post his playing career, Steven Bogere trusted God in all totality.
Subsequently, Steven Bogere has lived a life earmarked with divine breakthroughs.
Miracle aer miracle plus last minute saving grace has become part and parcel of the life of steven Bogere..
Without going into details, its been God always making a way where they seemed no way for Steven Bogere.
It so looks like God took Steven Bogere away from football for a given period of me.
Inorder to prepare him through the gospel of Jesus Christ for a divine assignment far greater than his football talent.
This divine assignment upon the life of Steven Bogere has not been fully realized yet.
But one thing is very certain that the assignment of God upon the life of Steven Bogere is unfolding at each passing day.
And his tesmony will surely bring many to the realizaon of the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Presently, Steven Bogere is head coach at onduparaka football club.
he angel of the appeared unto me as in a dream.
The physical make up of the angel of the Lord seemed like that of baby & an adult at the same me.
Then i asked the angel of the Lord,: " what is this period ( season/me)?"
The angel answered and said, Talitha. Specifically denong and poinng to the break of dawn.
A me when the dark veil cast upon the world is lied up.
Once the veil is lied off the world, the world gets up and rises up to a new day.
A new day that is ever beauful and shining in the glory and splendor of the Almighty God.
While the veil of darkness abounds no beauty and shine is visible.
However the moment the veil is lied then the beauty and the shining glory of the Lord God almighty becomes all the more visible.
What ever veil of darkness that had befell your life inorder to hide the great potenal for the life of you is being lied up.
So that your great potenals can be able to rise up and shine in their own unique beauty.
That which appeared as though it was average is going to appear gloriously, and beauful because the me of its breakthrough has come.
There has been a unique beauty and glory upon your life hidden for far long.
But now is the me for it to be made visible .
This is so because the veil of darkness has been lied off your life.
Indeed and infact, we entering a period ( a me/ a season) where God is going to uncover his mighty wonders for us.
These mighty wonders have been kept veiled and hidden for a long me for us.
They have been hidden by the Lord for us so that they can be uncovered for us in this appointed me and season.
The appointed me for the unfolding of these mighty wonders hidden by God for us is now.
Its now because we have developed enough character to handle the glory of the Lord.
Some mes ,if not all the me, there is need for character development inorder for us to handle the mighty wonders God has for us.
Without character, whatever has the propensity to give you life may actually end up killing you.
So there has to be a case for character development inorder for us to be able to handle the mighty wonders God has for us.
In this period the whole world will realize how unique and beauful your life has been established by the might hand of God.
Envy and jealousy Will not be near you but far from you.
This is so because envious and jealousy people will not be in a posion to stand the shining and beauful glory of the Lord upon your life.
The veiled mantle of God upon your life is being exposed in this period.
Just as moses came up from the mountain aer having a meeng with God.
And his countenance was seen to be shining with glory.
So will your life be seen to shine in the glory of the lord, because the mantle of God on your life has been exposed.
There is going to be an aracon of the impossible in your life as you come into this period.
Everything that seemed humanly impossible for you to accomplish will be accomplished.
And you will shudder and wonder ll you remember that the veil has been lied off your life.
Its impossible for you to remain obscure and invisible.
Because the light of the Lord God almighty has been cast upon your life.
There things that existed in your life that you have never witnessed but you will see now because they will be exposed.
This season is called a glorious season.
Darkness has passed away.
Light has come to pass.
The veil has been lied and cast away for you to be able to see a new day.
A new day that God has prepared for you to witness his glorious splendor.
To experience his mighty works and glorify God for his greatness.
The angel of the lord said Talitha denong the removal of the veil.
Denong the breaking of dawn.
Denong day break.
Denong its me to get up and rise up.
Thus in this period you will not be confined to one place.
Your convicons will take you places that your never thought possible to go.
When Jesus was rising Jairus' daughter from the dead, he used the term "Talitha".
And immediately upon the applicaon of that word "Talitha", Jairus' daughter woke up from the dead.
There abilies and propensies that were laying deep on the inside of you and as though dead.
But you have just entered a season and a period in your life , when abilies and potenals that have been laying deep and seemingly dead on the inside of you are going to wake up from the dead.
Some of these potenals and abilies are a great
mystery to your conscience because you not firmly aware of them.
Yet they going to wake up from their deep slumber and emerge out of you.
And once these deep laying potenals begin to flow out of your existence , goodness and mercy shall follow you.
Hence changing the map of your life.
Ideas that require immediate aenon, support, and execuon will be born out of the belly of your mind.
Many have thought of you long dead and buried.
However in this period of me and season you will be seen as one who has been risen from the dead.
Much akin to the daughter of Jairus.
Who had been thought dead unl Jesus said unto to her Talitha cumi (lile girl get up) , she immediately resurrected from the dead.
Because Talitha denotes the break of dawn or the liing of the dark veil which calls upon all men to rise up and get up from laxity, and from the mundane.
Undoubtedly in this period , me and season whatever burden has been keeping you in a state of the mundane has been lied off you.
Thus you free to get up and rise up inorder to achieve and accomplish the extraordinary.
Nothing should be in a posion to hold you back.
And because this so, there should not be any reason for you not to go full throle in the pursuit of every-
“you have just entered a season and a period in your life , when abilities and potentials that have been laying deep and seemingly dead on the inside of you are going to wake up from the dead.”
thing extraordinary.
You have been kept in the secret place with the shadow of God playing the role of a dark cover over life.
And now the Lord God Almighty is removing the cover.
Unveiling you so to speak.
So that you can rise up and get up and bring forth the unique beauty of the Lord God almighty.
Talitha according to Jewish etyamology comes from the root word Talit.
And Talit denotes a small / lile tent or dwelling.
The same word Talit also is the term given to mean a prayer shawl/ veil.
In Jewish tradion a talit is a prayer cloth over one's head to signify the presence of God.
Each one of us has got a dose of the presence of God in our lives.
And by the presence of God i mean the spirit of God.
And by the spirit of God i mean the breath of God.
This breath is on the inside of our being and its what keeps us alive.
However once you have been called by God then you will have to experience an awakening of the presence of God on your inside.
The moment this awakening occurs you will be as if you have been always dead but suddenly you become alive
When Jesus said unto Jairus' daughter the words 'Talitha Cumi":
Jesus was not just merely speaking to Jairus' daughter but to the dose of divine presence in her inside.
So that it can be woken up from its deep slumber.
And indeed the dose of divine presence in Jairus' daughter woke up and she who was previously dead came back to life.
In mes past they are things in you that you never knew existed.
But as you enter into another season new possibilies are going to wake up from you.
There is going to be a resurrecon of that which was previously dead in your life.
Relaonships that were no more are going to resurrect to your benefit.
Ambions and opportunies that you had given up on are about to come knocking on doors.
Life for you is about to be victorious in the name of Jesus.
And all you have to do is to open the door and let them in.
32 But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it. 33 The woman realized what had happened to her, so she came, trembling with fear, knelt at his feet, and told him the whole truth. 34 Jesus said to her, “My daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your trouble.”
35 While Jesus was saying this, some messengers came from Jairus' house and told him, “Your daughter has died. Why bother the Teacher any longer?”
36 Jesus paid no aenon to[a] what they said, but told him, “Don't be afraid, only believe.” 37 Then he did not let anyone else go on with him except Peter and James and his brother John. 38 They arrived at Jairus' house, where Jesus saw the confusion and heard all the loud crying and wailing. 39 He went in and said to them, “Why all this confusion? Why are you crying? The child is not dead—she is only sleeping!”
40 They started making fun of him, so he put them all out, took the child's father and mother and his three disciples, and went into the room where the child was lying. 41 He took her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha, koum,” which means, “Lile girl, I tell you to get up!”
42 She got up at once and started walking around. (She was twelve years old.) When this happened, they were completely amazed. 43 But Jesus gave them strict orders not to tell anyone, and he said, “Give her something to eat.”
As you set out for a magical 2-hour sundowner cruise to Kalangala, a district made up of eighty four widely scaered islands you will marvel at the beauful scenery of the sun’s final rays set on the shimmering waters of Lake Victoria.
Lake Victoria is the most enormous tropical lake in the world and the greatest fresh water lake in the whole of Africa; one of the connent's biggest lakes.
Lake Victoria is equal to the size of Ireland.
Lolling by the lakeside are the giganc hippos, very territorial they spend most of their days living in the water but at night rouse themselves out of their slumberous lethargy and stroll onto land to graze.
The vessel is operated by Naon Oil Distributors Limited (NODL), also the official undertakers of MV Kalangala.
Our special projects contributor, Ssenyonga Juma had an interview with the MV NODL Public Relaons Officer Hakim Bwanika, below is the excerpt.
What was the idea behind the concepon of MV NODL VICTORIA?
The idea behind MV NODL Victoria was to enhance water transportaon by creang a comfortable, luxurious, adventurous, reliable and a dependable service.
We respect that there are several players in the market. And our competitive strategy focuses on providing a unique product or service at an affordable price which we think shall separate us from the competition.
As local fisherman yonder cast their final nets of the day, MV NODL Victoria; a luxury catamaran vessel that plies the Nakiwogo-Kalangala route hits dock aer a two hours' sight seeing.
The cry of the stunning African fish eagle dely sweeps across the gliering lake in
How have you under taken to shi from a basic marine vessel to a luxury vessel? We did this by benchmarking our services with the best. Turkey has one of the best marime industries in the world. With this in mind, we designed MV NODL Victoria from Tuzla in Turkey. This cruise vessel has a Turkish touch to its design.
What is the level of safety of MV NODL?
I believe that MV NODL Victoria is at the best level of safety. The vessel is installed with life jackets, life ras, fire exnguishers and first aid boxes which are used to safeguard passengers and seafarers against any harm. The safety structures and equipment of MV NODL Victoria are compliant with legal and classificaon society requirements for insurance and registraon.
What are the challenges that you are now facing in the operaon of MV NODL Victoria?
Our pricing policy has been interesng to look at in this respect. I do not want to call it a challenge but rather an intrigue. MV NODL Victoria has high-end travel services
LUXURY BOAT CRUISE transforms hospitality, eco-tourism in Kalangala.
and of course that is translated into high cket prices for its different travel classes. We usually take high-end customers to Kalangala on Fridays but return with a mixture of both high and low end customers on Sunday. Our low end customers make bargains on our pricing in order to enjoy our services. We are always forced to be flexible to accommodate this kind of clientele. From your own experience of operang MV NODL
what's the Ugandan percepon of luxury cruises?
I think Uganda has a huge market for people who enjoy and love luxury cruises. We have been having an increase in other tour operators booking the vessel for boat cruises and private charters. If the bookings go on at this rate, I believe we shall have boat cruises every weekend by the beginning of 2023.
How have you partnered with other stake holders to beat the missing gaps in the marine industry?
Our operaons are based on forces of demand and supply. With that in mind, MV NODL Victoria has a partnership with Victoria Forest Resort Limited found in Kalangala to enhance its number of travelers. Victoria Forest Resort Limited is our demand side and our doors are open to partnerships from other hoteliers to tap into the elascity of passenger capacity of MV NODL Victoria.
For now, what is the state of compeon in regards to the marine industry?
We respect that there are several players in the market. And our compeve strategy focuses on providing a unique product or service at an affordable price which we think shall separate us from the compeon. We have unexplored eco-tourism centers. How have you promoted these?
MV NODL Victoria transports revelers and tourists to the Islands of Kalangala. Kalangala is one of the places in Uganda with a successful conservaon story. And while at the travels we have processes that conserve the environment and improve the well-being of the people in places where the ship operates.
What was the impact of covid 19 on the marine industry?
Covid-19 was a huge blow for the marime industry a variety of ways. It delayed the development of our products and services that we had developed prior to that era. Sales lessened and this constrained processes that drive our innovaons.
What packages do you have so far to fit the indigenous Ugandan at the grass root? Our pricing packages are cost friendly to suit all income levels of the Ugandan economy.
How do you intend to fight the capsizing boat phobia in the public?
The ship is fied with safety equipment to save guard our passengers. The ship is also maintained and serviced periodically. And this maintenance and servicing are also prerequisites for insuring the ship. We believe this can reduce the public insecuries of traveling by water.
How oen do you handle boat repair and maintenance of MV Kalangala?
Maintenance is done every 250 and every 10000 sailing hours. This depends on the total cost ownership of every equipment and accessories used on the ship.
How do you ensure crew fitness and mental awareness?
The company orients all employees by having
learning and development courses and inducon acvies which help to induce employees into the working environment.
What conngency plans do you have in case of mishaps/boats capsizing at the lake?
Our conngency plans of such a scenario begin with our maintenance team that gives the ship’s performance a 20-minutes’ recovery if systems fail. This accompanied by frequent maintenance gives the ship the best of quality, reliability and dependability with regards to safety of its operaons.
We are seeing a shi to eco-friendly waste management, how have you undertaken to improve this?
The ships are fied with a sewerage treatment plant which ensures that all wastes are treated before being disposed. We have also spearheaded environmental awareness around the land sites by training 100 community leaders about environmental conservaon.
What eco features will the passenger on board MV NODL expect to see/meet?
There is a lot Lake Victoria has to offer; that scenery is just grandiose.
Towards the fesve season, how have you
We developed the MV NODL Concept to tap into the high capacity of passengers that has grown over me during the fesve seasons.
How did you conceive the idea of operang a marine vessel?
It was conceived through research. We took part in a research that was funded by world bank in 2018 and this research kind of revealed all the feasible routes in terms of number of travelers for marime transportaon on Lake Victoria. With that in mind, our management felt like there was a need to build a ship that would solve the capacity problems of growing number of travelers to Kalangala.
How have you adjusted to operate MV Kalangala and MV NODL concurrently? We have accrued enough marime manage-
transportaon services and products.
What's the safety level of MV NODL technically?
I do not know what you mean by safety level but the best I can say is that the ships we manage adhere to the safety and quality module. This module guarantees that we obey the necessary safety laws and regulaons as well as IMO, classificaon sociees, insurers and other marime organizaons’ codes, guidelines and standards.
As an operator for the two vessels, what have been your achievements so far? Our prime achievement is that we have met the movement needs of the people of Kalangala.
solutions aimed at making for a better community.
At the Battle of Gifted Tongues we cultivate and groom young Africans into research passionate individuals and information lovers.
Information lovers that go beyond the surface and are not afraid to swim at the deep end of the sea of information
It's crucial and equally important that information lovers cultivate their own unique voice and sound.
A unique voice and sound that is not only inspiring, educative, motivating and educational but a voice that rallies the far less informed to do some thing about their desperation.
Undoubtedly the strategic objective and goal for training for civic engagement is to rise up an intellectual band of trailblazers.
Trailblazers that are not afraid to come into con ict with the status quo.
This is so because every con ict enduring against the statusquo will eventually give birth to a revolution.
At the time when e ective global leadership demands a focus on the 4Cs ie :-civic engagement, collaboration, Communication and critical thinking.
The Battle of Gifted Tongues has cut out itself to create a niche that entirely focuses on training for civic engagement.
The power of civic engagement should be about identifying pressing societal problems and digging out
A revolution whose initial aim will not draw a line in the sand but rather to storm the beach.
And ip the scales in order to turn tables and the mundane events around.
Once the mundane events of our day and time are ipped then creativity will no longer be sti ed and impeded.
Over the year this program has given birth to intellectual bigwigs just as we witnessed at the just concluded presidential elections in Kenya.
One of the Battle of Gifted Tongues alumnis by the names of Isabella Obara, was on the forefront of providing minute by minute analytical coverage of the Kenyan election.
This was an encouragement for the Battle of Gifted Tongues to continue in its endeavour of training young African for civic engagement.
A movement of young Africans in the quest for truth and knowledge via an organized, civilized and intellectual plaorm of different viewpoints.
Regarding both the crical and crucial issues of our day and me.
Our commitment-
Through the concept of urban debate, the ASDL/ The Bale of Gied Tongues aims at improving secondary literacy, academic performance and high school graduaon rates-to prepare students for university.
By helping them achieve university-readiness benchmarks in reading, English, math and Science-to prepare Students for 21st century careers.
That help them master important skills such as crical thinking and problem solving, : collaboraon, and creavity and innovaon-to prepare students for community engagement by insllling a life long interest in speaking out on issues that affect their communies.

FAVOR IS BOTH crical and crucial in the expansion of the life of any given individual.
For there to be an expansion in the life of an individual there has got to be an assignment and a purpose at hand.
Its for that assignment and purpose that the individual is equipped with favor.
Favor helps the individual to achievement their purpose and assignment in God.
For without favor its almost impossible to have access to the resources one needs to fulfill the purpose of their assignment.
Nehemiah had a burden to rebuild the broken walls of jerusalem and he prayed and fasted unto God for favor.
God granted Nehemiah favor and when Nehemiah was before the king it was the favor of God upon his life that was able to persuade the king to give Nehemiah the resources that he needed to accomplish the task of his purpose and assignment.
There is an assignment of God that your life has been called unto.
And there limitaons to this assignment socially, economically and influenally.
However every limitaon in your life will soon be no more because you are about to experience an expansion.
This expansion is as an aspect of the favor of God.
And its going to make sure that every limitaon and borderline in the way of your assignment and purpose is expanded.
This is crucial and crical because the expansion will give you more room to do more and beer than you would have been able to accomplish hitherto.
The trigger is in your posion that is based in christ.
To be in christ is to be in the Christos and to be in the christos is to be in the messiah and to be in the messiah is to be in the Hamasiach.
And all the aforemenoned translates to mean ;to have the indwelling of the HolySpirit and the outpouring of the anoinng of God Almighty.
The anoinng of God Almighty is the expressive power of the HolySpirit.
Its the anoinng of God Almighty that breaks the yoke.
And once the yoke is broke by the anoinng freedom and peace are earmarked into your life.
However this peace is a special kind of peace because its the peace that surpasses all understanding and basic knowledge.
The expansion of your life is being triggered by your posion in christ.
A posion that places you on a level where you have recieved the indwelling of the HolySpirit and a person who recieved the outpouring of the anointing of God Almighty Upon his life.
undoubtedly because of the outpouring of the anoinng of God Almighty over your life you are going to accomplish milestones in fields where you dont have basic knowledge and understanding.
Indeed and infact your milestones shall surpasses the milestones of those that are experts and men of reputable knowledge and understanding in their field.
Not by might or power but because of the outpouring of the anoinng of the God Almight upon your life.
Economically all the borderlines that limited your economic capacity are expanding under the pressure of the outpouring of the anoinng of God Almighty upon your life.
And because of this expansion you are about to embark on projects and register success.
Projects that seemed beyond your economic capacity you are going to accomplish successful because of the outpouring of the anoinng of God Almighty.
On a social front the expansion that you are about to endure will make sure that your name and your assignment are both spoken of in spheres outside your circles.
And when you get spoken of , the discussion will hold you in high regards and in considerable reputaon.
“To be in christ is to be in the Christos and to be in the christos is to be in the messiah and to be in the messiah is to be in the Hamasiach.”
This is so because the moment you recieve the outpouring of the anoinng of God Almighty favor automacally backs you up.
Making sure that you go places that break into ranks that your educaon background and status cant allow you to go.
The outpouring of the anoinng of God Almighty upon your life does also affect your influenal status.
Rendering an expansion at the borderlines of your influence thus ensuring the your influence goes beyond the normal capacity.
Its characterisc for the anoinng to flow thus one of the most important reason as to why the social, economic, and influenal borderlines of your life are all going to expand is because of the flow of the outpouring of the anoinng of God almighty upon your life.
No borderline of limitaon can stand sll at the flow of the anoinng.
All borderlines fall at the flow of the anoinng.
There is geng ready to be a redrawing of the social, economic and influenal borderlines of your life.
And this redrawing will ensure an expansion in all your borderlines.
The areas of your linitaon will be no more.
The place where you had no access you going to have access and unlimited access.
The outpouring of the anoinng upon your life will ensure that you have access to opportunies that you have never had before。
Economic limitaons will be history and as a maer of fact you and all your descendants shall never be broke a day in your lives.
This is so because and the outpouring of the anoinng upon your life has broken the yoke of poverty off you.
The recieving of the outpouring of the anoinng breaks the york resulng into a freedom and a peace that surpasses all human understanding.
The peace in this regard is not a feeljng but rather its an ability and a propensity.
To accomplish and to establish that which human understanding cannot grasp.
The ability that surpasses all human understanding is unique in its characterisric because its a mystery.
Its a mystery that is unknown and it only has to be revealed.
It takes a revelaon to be aware and to be able to experience the peace that surpasses all understanding.
Indeed and infact its very much true that you going through and experiencing an expansion in all aspects concerning your life.
The expansion that you experiencing is not some thing you can feel or even see but its taking place in your life
and its got to be revealed unto you inorder for you to be informed and educated about the expansion that God is doing in your life.

2 In the month of Nisan in the tweneth year of King Artaxerxes, when wine was brought for him, I took the wine and gave it to the king. I had not been sad in his presence before, 2 so the king asked me, “Why does your face look so sad when you are not ill? This can be nothing but sadness of heart.”
I was very much afraid, 3 but I said to the king, “May the king live forever! Why should my face not look sad when the city where my ancestors are buried lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire?”
4 The king said to me, “What is it you want?”
Then I prayed to the God of heaven, 5 and I answered the king, “If it pleases the king and if your servant has found favor in his sight, let him send me to the city in Judah where my ancestors are buried so that I can rebuild it.”
6 Then the king, with the queen sing beside him, asked me, “How long will your journey take, and when will you get back?” It pleased the king to send me; so I set a me.
7 I also said to him, “If it pleases the king, may I have leers to the governors of Trans-Euphrates, so that they will provide me safe-conduct unl I arrive in Judah? 8 And may I have a leer to Asaph, keeper of the royal park, so he will give me mber to make beams for the gates of the citadel by the temple and for the city wall and for the residence I will occupy?” And because the gracious hand of my God was on me, the king granted my requests. 9 So I went to the governors of Trans-Euphrates and gave them the king’s leers. The king had also sent army officers and cavalry with me.
10 When Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the Ammonite official heard about this, they were very much disturbed that someone had come to promote the welfare of the Israelites.

akim Semakula is a son to the first supreme Mui of uganda.
And suprisingly even though he was an ardent muslim faithful devoted to the core.
Hakim Semakula was called by Jesus Christ in the early 1980s in the cool of the day while resng in his room in a manner that was both vivid and real- undeniable and undisreputatable.
According to his narrave, Jesus called unto Hakim Semakula in a sound voice as though some one in the same room was calling out to him.
The voice of the Lord said to Hakim Semakula, ”Abdulhakim semakula, what danger is in salvaon?”
In that very moment Hakim semakula woke up and looked for the voice of the one who was calling him out.
However to his dismay he would not find nobody having looked in every room of the house.
This is so because the voice that was calling him out was not from a natural man but from the Lord Jesus himself.
In returning to the room where he first had the voice of Jesus , the voice spoke to Hakim Semakula once again with the same words of inquiry, ” Hakim Semakula what danger is in salvaon? “
From that moment on Hakim Semakula got out of his house, and headed to the taxi park.
while in the taxi park ,Hakim Semakula with no clear sense of direcon from a human perspecve ,walked past all the taxis heading in different disnaon and entered a taxi heading past mengo.
And once the taxi reached mengo , Hakim Semakula disembarked fron the taxi and instantly heard drumbeats in the direcon of mengo secondary school.
There he went and ended up in a youthful fellowship that was led by pastor Kibuuka of the Phildelphia church.
while there ,Hakim semakula officially gave his life to Jesus christ as his lord and personal saviour.
News about Hakim semakula and his switch from Islam to salvaon in Jesus Christ spread directly to his prominent muslim family and as expected to was received with contempt.
Family members including elder brothers plus Hakim semakula’s mother accosted Hakim Semakula to explain his decision to covert from Islam.
Having none much to say Hakim Semakula’s response to all his angry relaves was scriptural based saying, ”Jesus is the way the truth and the life”.
They unapologecally denounced him and cut him off with his elder brother categorically stang and issuing a curse of suffering on him.
An incredible story telling genius whose every word bares the anoinng to teleport the audience back to the first love of God in a manner that is not only inspiring but capvang. A preacher who does not shy away from openely rebuking the strayed with love and humour. Pastor Hakim Semakula teaches, instructs and preaches a gospel that is pure, and undiluted
Ofcourse Hakim semakula suffered many hardships in his new walk with Jesus christ.
However he remained steadfast in his newfound faith in Jesus Christ.
He transioned from living a middle class lifestyle to a poverty stricken lifestyle.
From dwelling in an upscale suburb to a gheo that was literally submerged in kisenyi.
Armed with Bible in hand Hakim Semakula started preaching the gospel of the streets of kampala.
Around strategic places such as Kiyemba, Old Taxi Park, and in Kikuubo.
Many were saved and accepted Jesus christ as their Lord and personal savior upon the hearing of the tesmony of Hakimu Semakula in regarda to how Jesus christ converted him from Islam to Chrisanity.
Aer years of preaching and serving God, in 1990 Hakim semakula relocated to the united kingdom where he sll resides aer 32yrs.
In the united kingdom Hakim semakula pastors a church called Alpha and Omega Chrisan Fellowship located in charleston. Gifted Tongues Magazine -
In his humble style, he describes himself as a magic realist art painter.
An art painter who breathes life and, acvity into realisc images by skillfully playing around with various color paerns . In order to cast upon them a unique and rich sense of lighng.
However looking crically at Geoffrey Mukasa’s personality at a first glance in order to grasp its essence, one will first have to struggle in order to really make up what it is.
Unl he or she understands the philosophical side of it.
He reminds me of a 4th century Lan philosophical scholar who argued that; any man leaving in an environment made-up of rich authenc colors will always seek to expressive himself more through his gi rather than through his words.
Another Greek philosopher said that; one of the worst things in daily life is to be surrounded by a lot of chaer boxes without any one of them ever possessing any kind of break through expressions.
Whilst on the other hand, one of the best things in life (he menoned) was to be around a humble person who is able to express himself so effecvely by way of his gi without the help of his vocal abilies.
Consequently, Geoffrey Mukasa’s persona is a perfect epitome of the above philosophies, because he exudes so much humility in his manner of speech, while making this up by showcasing extra-ordinary amounts of energ through his gi (art painng) .
In fact his conscience is not conspicuous through his low tone voice but rather very much evident in every piece of his work. While I sat back stared straight through Mukasa’s eyes, as I listened to his chat traversing me through his 20yrs old illustrious art career.
I would easily tell that he’s got nothing much to tell in his own words because he has already told it all in his painngs. Having known him through a close friend, and desiring over a long spell to meet him and talk about his wonderful art pieces.
Geoffrey Mukasa sounds flaered when I confess to him that his painngs are some of the best art painngs, I have ever come across. Meeng him was not easy, infacct i was fortunate when he accepted to meetup aer a long plea.
we met at Tulifanya Gallery where he exhibits and sales most of his artworks, I must admit, our meeng was more of a learning experience than an interview experience.
He says,” Art is a self-culture comprising of three basic characteriscs: Physical, moral, and acvity.
Hence explaining the reason why most of his painngs are fundamentally based on physical imaginave elements tapped from the environment of his rear.
Any art cric looking at Mukasa’s works shall easily noce with technical observance; that his works are quite accomplished with life like figures oen cast and backed up with dazzling color lighngs.
Trained and mentored in India by big household names like M.F.Hussien, who groomed him in the science of approaching space, line, color, form and distoron of figure.
And ofcourse M.L.Nagal, who helped him achieve an authenc composion of an art painng, Geoffrey Mukasa has exhibited in Kenya , Australia , Germany , U.K, and in Uganda .
They are bold, Confident, outspoken and focused. As much as asserve
nce they decide to March up or idenfy a locaon to demonstrate a sit-in, they do it loud and clear.
This new generaon of young Sudanese is not a echo but rather a voice.
A voice that is not just any other voice.
But rather a voice inspired by a history of non-violent acons that work.
In 1956, Sudan achieved its independence from Britain without a war.
Independence was gained by nonviolent mobilisaon from boom up.
In 1964 and in 1984 both the military governments of Ibrahim Abboud and jaafar Numeiri , we're respecvely overthrown by nonviolent revoluons.
Thus it comes as no surprise that the present generaon has taken on the mantle of non-violent acons from its forefathers.
Aided by the social media plaorms such as whatsapp, facebook and twier.
These plaorms have helped the Young people of Sudan to effecvely mobilize from the lowest local level to the highest professional level.
Due to this methodology ; change is building up from the grassroots to as far as in the highest office of government.
Young professionals, women and civil acvists have all formed groups to March for changes and sit-ins that exert pressure against tyranny and dictatorship.
It's was the taccs of non-violent acons that overthrew the 30yrs old dictatorial regime of Bashir between 2018-2019.
Obviously, the overthrow of Bashir aer oppressively ruling Sudan for 30yrs was a catalyst.
And evidence that nonviolent acons worked for the forefathers and they can sll be effecve for the sons and daughters of the forefathers.
Young people in Sudan use nonviolent acons in the fight against military dictatorship and other social challenges.
In July 2020 the Young people of Sudan staged 14 sit-ins across Sudan demanding security against cale the plus the ousng of corrupt leaders.
Historically most nonviolent acons are unsustainable.
And this is a major challenge to many nonviolent actors.
However the Young people of udan have developed beer ways to sustain acvity even when authories shut down internet availability.
Presently democracy has not been fully restored in Sudan but the Young people of Sudan connue to press hard.S
By instuonalizing their nonviolent acons.
They do this by building synergies with other democracy seeking advocates around the world.
Most importantly with advocacy groups such the United States Instute of Peace.
Another organisaon is called Hadhreen, this one has borne treatment costs for thousands who have been injured during protests , and has provided financial support to the families of the deceased.
Where the deceased were killed during a military crack down of the nonviolent actors.
According to a report by the New Humanitarian, the most recent wave of protests by the Young people of Sudan is to ensure a revoluon and not a return to the statusquo.
They demand a civilian government and not a military government.
The young people of Sudan deserve a standing ovaon because through nonviolent, nothing will stop them from confronng the military generals.
This so because their pursuit of a polical and
economicrevoluon is sll a promise. Alaa salah is a Sudanese acvist who was at the forefront of the youthful protests that overthrow the reign of the Sudanese dictatorship Coutesy Photo Coutesy Photo Coutesy Photo
