









Gen Healthy Minds was established in 2018 and over the past four years has worked with Early Careers teams across a wide range of sectors and countries to deliver our bespoke programmes. Everything we do is designed to help you thrive and perform at your best in work and life.
Our offering is unique as we tailor our programmes around developing wellbeing and performance of Apprentices and Graduates during their journey into Early Careers.
We are delighted to be supporting your Babcock Apprentice Development Programme. Throughout 2023/24 we will be running a series of high energy interactive face to face and online Boost Masterclasses that will support your wider development.
Our goal is to support you to stay healthy, happy and be able to perform to a high level both in and outside of the workplace. The performance and wellbeing tools and techniques that we will teach you will equip you to take on challenges ahead of you, both during your programme and beyond.
We will be providing you with content and development that we feel is most relevant at each stage of your Early Careers journey.
Dean is a leading authority on wellbeing and performance having written the book “Thrive” and run his own health business Phoenix Performance Training. He is a recognised speaker and coach.
Sam Bishop is one of the Uk’s leading performance psychologists. Sam works with elite sports men and women as well as top businessmen and women to help them achieve peak performance in their roles.
Mike has worked for nearly two decades in early careers at Barclays and more latterly through his Gen Healthy Minds business working with businesses to deliver wellbeing and performance programmes that support business growth.
George is an international wellbeing speaker, coach and author who has worked with individuals and corporates for over 20 years. He has designed and delivered wellbeing courses, bootcamps and written books on the topic
Below is an overview of your Boost Programme designed to support you to flourish and perform at your best. As you can see, the programme will run throughout 2023/24 with more details of times of each session later in this brochure. Each Masterclass will be either online or face to face and presented by wellbeing and performance experts George Anderson, Sam Bishop and Dean Coulson.

Our “Boost your mental wellbeing” masterclass will help participants boost their mental wellbeing every day
• Learn about positive psychology and positive psychology techniques and how these can boost wellbeing every day
• Gain practical skills and tools to boost wellbeing including practicing gratitude, check ins and mindfulness to help you to Flourish at work
Our “Develop High Performance habits masterclass explores how to maximise your mental and physical energy every day to feel great and perform at your best

• Explore how to improve diet, activity, sleep and hydration for immediate results
• How to build healthy routines in your day and create new habits

Our “Boost Wellbeing- Making stress your friend” masterclass will help participants build a positive relationship with stress
• Explore the “performance curve” and why stress is important to achieve peak performance
• Be able to recognize signs of stress and why they are manifesting themselves
• Learn tools and techniques for managing stress levels each day and become more resilient
Our “Boost your performance – confidence and motivation masterclass looks at how we can overcome mental barriers that stop us performing at our best such as low motivation and low confidence.
• Explore the different barriers to performance and why they occur
• Find simple ways to boost motivation and confidence
• Learn tools and techniques to boost confidence and motivation every day
Our “Boost your performance – you are not a machine” masterclass will introduce participants to performance psychology and how it can be used in their daily lives.
• We will share interesting case studies of top class athletes and business leaders to bring concepts to life in an interesting and engaging way.
• Explore the “human performance curve”
• Look at how to effectively manage our thoughts and emotions can lead to higher performance
Our “Boost your strengths and personal impact” This Masterclass will use the “viacharacter strengths finder” questionnaire to explore participants strengths and we will look at how to use them to become more effective in your work and personal life. During the Masterclass participants will:
• Understand the relevance and benefits of these insights.
• Learn why playing to your strengths is more important than improving your weaknesses.
• Create an action plan for how you can use these strengths more frequently.
Our “Boost your communication skills” masterclass helps participants to build the confidence to present their ideas in a powerful high impact way.
• How to build a “story arc” to get your ideas across.
• Key strategies for delivering with impact.
• How to overcome nerves and deliver with passion
• This session will allow participants to deliver in a safe environment and gain feedback from George and each other
An exciting part of your programme will be a week-long residential event when you will join other apprentices from across Babcock to explore the Babcock Purpose and Principles in a fun and hands-on way.
The week will take place at the magnificent Skern Lodge Activity Centre and will involve a range of challenging but fun activities designed to help you grow and develop as an individual and boost your team working skills.
You will benefit from a superb learning environment and facilities that are second to none. Along with great accommodation, the centre has plenty of meeting rooms, classrooms and social areas.
Drying rooms are provided for each accommodation area and there is plenty of outdoor space to relax or walk around within. Wi-Fi is available within most areas of the site.Added to all this, a heated outdoor swimming pool completes the complex.
You will love our modern facilities set in stunning surroundings where you will be inspired to learn and develop yourself.
SKERN LODGE is located on the North Devon coast, near Appledore on the shores of the Taw and Torridge estuary. Situated on the site of the old Watertown Farm, the buildings have been developed and added to, incorporating the original 1705 stonework into the purpose-built residential facilities.
