City Officials
Greenacres Comprehensive Planning
In March 2022, the City began the process of updating our statutorily required Comprehensive Plan which is scheduled to be adopted by the City Council in August 2023.
The Comprehensive Plan serves as a guide for community decision making, reflecting our mission, values, goals, and objectives, and provides for the long-term assessment of the community’s needs to ensure that the City is offering opportunities, amenities, services, and infrastructure that meet the needs of all our residents. The Plan also develops criteria and standards that the City expects in future development.
It is a living document that will change as the City grows and conditions change. Several key and required elements of the Plan are Transportation, Housing, Infrastructure, Recreation and Open Space, and Future Land Use. The City is also including Community Health and Economic Development/Redevelopment as new elements to the Plan.
Two (2) community meetings were held in October 2022 to solicit feedback from residents and an online survey was also rolled out Citywide to ensure we heard from you. It is our expectation that the goals, objectives and policies that come from this Plan update will be the foundation for continued growth and success of our community.
It is our hope that in the work we have done, and continue to do, always makes Greenacres a Great Place to Live, Learn, Work and Play.
City Parks Improvements: Constructing a new shaded playstructure at Veterans Park along with reconfiguring the softball field to a soccer field and a new play structure will be added.
Fire Station & Emergency Operations Center: Engineering and design will commence on a third fire station to respond to the increase in call volume for emergency, medical, and fire services, and an Emergency Operations Center to serve as the central command and control center carrying out the principles of emergency and disaster management.
New Youth Programs Building: Construction will begin for a new Youth Programs for the City’s Gold Seal, nationally accredited after school and summer camp programs. The building will provide for increased enrollment capacity, improved program space to better accommodate age appropriate learning and activities, improved security, and expanded clinic facilities.
