ABOUT ME I am a young architect and devoted to my career, passionate about the idea of designing spaces and thinking about how people are going to perceive and use them. Throughout my career I found a new passion for interior design which complements my architectural background. I enjoy looking for textures, color pallets and furniture to materialize it in one space.

I’ve used curved or diagonal shapes to create unique spaces and special features however I also experiment with orthogonal projects.

Nature and interior courtyards play an important role in my designs, to combine nature and buildings are major elements that I use both in my architectural and interior design projects.

I believe that architecture and interior design are closely related therefore I always combine both passions, so each space and building is a unique experience for the user.

EDUCATION CENTER I N N A Y Ă“ N: The School as a Public Space The public space is made up of a large outer plaza towards the NayĂłn stadium, then, a semi buried volume is created which contains the public program. This links the school with the community and at the same time links all the students among the school, generating internal relations between the three educational components, initial education, basic general education and unified general baccalaureate. However, due to the nature of the educational program, it is also used to mark the different stages of education without neglecting the relationship between all of them.

On the other hand the vertical circulation plays an important role, since it is a compact project, then it must be managed on several floors. This is why all educational pieces are formally attached to the circulation. In consequence it becomes a meeting space between students and teachers of all educational stages. Finally, the project reflects the three stages that work in three separate bodies that are linked to the vertical circulation and are related through the public program containing the cafeteria, library and multipurpose room. The project works as a great link and support to the initial infrastructure of Nayon and works with it so that the school strengthens the existing and does not function as an isolated building. public space, public program, compact, meeting space.

The project is located in Nayรณn a suburb in the outskirts of Quito, and it was part of a previous master plan. In consequence, the educational center had to be related to the existing buildings including the stadium.

Therefore, the project facade is less permeable towards the neighboring houses and completely open towards the public space, using eaves for sun light protection.

RELIGIOUS SANCTUARY MIDDLE OF THE WORLD Parish Center, Monastery & Cementery: Since the Renaissance, religion become an individual subject for each person, therefore, life in community to discuss transcendental issues almost disappeared. Therefore the project motivates the encounter in community with God through architectural spaces of reflection and not of nostalgia. The reflection spaces are for gatherings and relationship with nature. Therefore, a transition between reflection and nostalgic spaces is determined by public programs on the ground floor such as the entrance hall and the monastic brewery. On the other hand, spaces of nostalgia are those closed, with controlled lighting that motivate introspection. These consist of spaces like the cells of the monks or the funeral rooms of the cemetery. The project includes both types of spaces emphasizing in the landscape theme. The transition between the two spaces is through the use of courtyards, plazas and parks. Finally, the contrast between the nature of the garden and the park cemetery is essential when determining the architectural party.

I proposed a cloister however it does not motivate introspection, instead, the transition of spaces and visual relationships. This are given at the moment of entering the sanctuary through a large plaza and ending in the outdoor chapel. The two libraries rise precisely to generate visual relationships considering the length of the site.

The project creates two main conditions including the garden at one side and the park cementery at the other. Therefore the change over between both is extremely important, in consequence, the main two libraries are suspended in order to create visual relationships throughout the sanctuary.

VERTICAL PARK: H O U S I N G, W O R K & L E I S U R E NATURAL VENTILATION VENTILACION NATURAL SYSTEM

Ciudad del Rio - Guayaquil / Ecuador The project is located in the port city of Guayaquil at the shore of the Guayas River and next to the Cerro Santa Ana. The tower is placed at the interior part of the site liberating the space towards the river. At this part a great variety of shops, theaters, cafeterias among others, relate with the people passing thorough.

Furthermore, a gran plaza is proposed to generate an exterior theater for outdoor expositions for the public. The great tower is triangular mainly because of the three main uses, houses, offices and a hotel.

This creates the necessity of separated entrance halls for each of them.

The proposal uses a central open space that works as a courtyard which allows ventilation, lighting and green spaces in height. Being a mixed-use large-scale proposal, green spaces are extremely important due to the massification of the project.

This large central atrium is repeated every three floors and generates visual relations either inside the building or towards the landscape in which it is implanted. courtyard, green space, mixed use, large scale, atrium, landscape.

The building facade creates some rotations to create dynamism. Additionally, the building structure relies on three concrete structures at the vertical circulations. Therefore, the interior spaces have no internal columns except the ones conforming the interior courtyard.

COLLEGE LIBRARY-USFQ L I G H T & T R A V E L: From Social Life to Concentration The new students library for Universidad San Francisco de Quito represented a great challenge. Libraries are mainly a place to study and concentrate, however, the college library also serves as a place for reunion and social encounter among students.

Therefore there was a great conflict because of the nature of both conditions.

In consequence, there was a need to combine both of them with out each of them interfering with one another. Furthermore, the project proposes a transition or travel route between the typical social life of universities and the concentration of the library. This is done by using free plan as a design method and a large curved cone for the book archive which opens on one side and invites you to enter. This clearly reflects the architectural concept where social interaction and concentration gradually relate but at the same time they do not interfere with the activities of each other. Finally the use of light is characterized by being fairly controlled in concentration spaces and very free in social spaces. travel, social life, concentration, free plan, curved, light.

The library also includes an auditorium inside the curved cone that invites the guests to go in and uses its form to create efficient acoustics. Finally light is properly controlled to create a suitable environment for learning.

C O M P A C T D W E L L I N G S: Duplex 3 bedrooms

The colective space as articulator Located at the south part of the city of Quito, the project primarily constitutes a high density building containing essentially apartments. Therefore, it is proposed to generate spaces that transform the typical distribution of the collective zones in a building of high density. By means of this, it is sought to create a greater interaction between the users and the collective spaces that are distributed along the building. The typical arrival process of the user does not allow any relation between them therefore double height spaces appear to create community life which can be used for leisure activities, meetings, playgrounds among others. Additionally this spaces naturally illuminate the central circulation which also allows better air circulation and security for the users. Furthermore, this aleatory distributed spaces take an important role in the building facade as they are conformed as small boxes that excel from the facade. This allows some gardens and vegetation to appear that helps to create a more permeable and green facade. Finally the project works as part of a master plan that includes almost 6 blocks, each of them containing shops, day care, cinemas among others. This is done so every block can be self-sufficient and that way reduce vehicular congestion. high density, interaction, users, community life, central circulation.

Due to the complex organization of various types of apartments, there were four different floor plans. Additionally due to the double height of some apartments the central circulation only opened in certain floors allowing larger spaces in the upper floors. There was a total of 45 apartments in the building therefore the green articulating spaces played a fundamental role.

H O U S E F O R A S C U L P T O R: Work and living The project consisted on a home for a special client who needed his work to be combined with his home. Therefore some interesting characteristics appeard since the hierarchical space in the house was not the social area as it is common but instead the sculptor’s workshop was the main focus for design.

Additionally, the existing trees were also taken into account for the design process since they contributed in the distribution of spaces such as the main entrance and the backyard. Furthermore, forms such as the cilinder are used to enhance important parts of the house such as the staricases.

Being a home for a creative person, the design includes many terraces for inspiration in the sorrounding landscape.

Finally, part of the requests from the client were of a special lift system, so they could transport his materials into the workshop. Finally the house evolves around the hierarchical space conformed by the workshop and all other spaces pass to a secondary state. hierarchical, workshop, trees, cilinder.

Since the house combines both aspects, work and living, they had to be separated so that both activities did not interfere with one another. In consequence there is a strong necessity of separate entrances for each activity. For instance, in the ground floor there is a social area for the house and a working area for the sculptors office.
