Spring is finally here! (and what a long, crazy winter that was!)

Mediterranean Power Bowl ½ c. brown rice, cooked and warm ½ c. grape tomatoes, sliced ¼ c. red onion ½ c. cucumber, sliced ¼ c. feta cheese ½ c. chickpeas, drained and rinsed ¼ c. hummus 2 tbsp. Kalamata olives, sliced 2 tbsp. Greek dressing In a single serving bowl, place rice. Place tomatoes, cucumbers, chickpeas, feta cheese and hummus on top the rice, in sections.

Top with dressing and sprinkle with olives and red onions. Enjoy!

Teriyaki Chicken Nourish Bowl ½ c. brown rice, cooked and warm 2 tbsp. olive oil, divided ¼ cup teriyaki sauce, divided 1 boneless skinless chicken breast, cubed ½ c. red pepper, sliced ½ c. zucchini, sliced into coins ½ c. purple cabbage, shredded ½ cup frozen edamame, thawed 2 tbsp. cilantro, chopped 2 tbsp. peanuts, chopped In a single serving bowl, place rice.

Heat a frying pan and spray lightly with cooking spray.

Toss zucchini and pepper in olive oil and add to pan.

Cook and stir for 6 to 8 minutes. Place on top of rice.

Add remaining oil to frying pan and place chicken in pan.

Cook and stir for 10 min. or until cooked. Top with teriyaki sauce and stir. Add on top of vegetables and rice.

Heat a grill pan over medium-high heat and lightly grease with cooking spray. Toss zucchini and bell pepper in 1 tablespoon olive oil. Add to pan and grill for 3-4 minutes, then turn and grill 3-4 minutes longer. Divide vegetables between two bowls.

Top with cabbage, edamame, cilantro and peanuts.

Drizzle with teriyaki sauce and enjoy!

SANTA LUCIA PIZZA started way back in 1971 when the Simeonidis’ Family opened a little take out pizzeria in Thompson, Manitoba while working at the Inco Nickel mines. Orange Olive Oil Bundt Cake 2 eggs ⅔ c. sugar 1 tbsp. orange zest 1 tbsp. lemon zest ½ c. olive oil ½ c. orange juice 1½ c. all-purpose flour 1 tbsp. baking powder

Preheat oven to 350F. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs and sugar. Add zest and stir in oil and orange juice. Stir in flour and baking powder; do not overmix as the batter will be slightly lumpy.

Pour batter into a greased 8” Bundt or round cake pan. Bake for 45 min. Cool in pan for 5 min. and then turn onto a wire rack. Let cool completely and serve with whipped cream and your favourite berries.

Old-fashioned Lemon Bars Crust 2 c. all-purpose flour ½ c. sugar ¼ tsp. baking powder ½ tsp. salt 1 tsp. vanilla 1 egg 1 c. butter, softened Filling 2½ c. sugar ¾ cup flour 6 large eggs 1 tbsp. lemon zest 1 c. fresh lemon juice Pinch of salt Icing sugar

Preheat oven to 350F and line the bottom and sides of a 13 x 9 pan with parchment paper.

For the crust, combine flour, baking powder, sugar and salt in a medium bowl. Add softened butter, egg and vanilla extract and fold it several times to make a dough.

Spread the crust over the bottom of the pan.

Spread evenly and pat into the pan.

Bake for 18 to 20 minutes or until edges are just getting lightly browned. Remove from the oven and let cool.

For the filling, whisk together sugar and flour until combined. Stir in eggs, lemon juice, zest, and salt.

Whisk together to combine and don’t overmix.

Pour the filling over cooled crust and bake for 25 to 28 minutes or until relatively set. Remove from oven and cool for 20 to 30 minutes, then refrigerate until cold and firm. Dust with icing sugar and cut into squares.

Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp

3 c. rhubarb, chopped into small pieces 3 c. strawberries, sliced 1 c. sugar 1 ⅓ c. flour, divided ½ tsp. cinnamon 1 c. brown sugar 1 c. old fashioned oats ¼ tsp. nutmeg ½ c. butter, melted Preheat oven to 350F. In a large bowl, combine fruit, strawberries, sugar, ⅓ c. flour and cinnamon. Pour into a greased 13 x 9 baking pan.

In another bowl, combine remaining flour, brown sugar, oats and nutmeg.

Pour into butter and blend well. Sprinkle evenly over fruit mixture. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes. Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

Whether we are working from home or the office or somewhere in-between our faces are subject to blue light damage from all of our devices. Plus, damaging UV rays come in through our office or home windows as easily as through our car sunroof or windshield. The UVA rays pass easily through causing damage even on cold, rainy or snowy days.

Develop a partnership with your skincare provider this year. We want to be your "besthetician." Building a relationship with your skincare providers at your local skincare studio or med spa is vital. They have an intimate knowledge of the skin care ingredients in the brands that they professionally trust, and they take the time to get to know you and your skin care needs.

The key for us to remember is that these are ingredients, not formulations. This leads to consumers buying individually packaged ingredients and formulating them at home on our own when it typically takes teams of scientists months to properly formulate an effective, stable skincare product.

No more matte skin. Fresh looking skin is the goal for 2022 and I personally hope it stays for years to come. Matte looking skin has created this false belief that if your skin isn't ‘dry to the touch’ that it is ‘greasy’ or ‘oily’. Healthy, strong skin is moisturized and looks dewy. This moisture is what keeps it strong and resistant to breakdown and breakouts.

Dress for Success empowers women in work and in life.

ince 2008, Dress for Success Regina has been helping women get on a path toward economic independence. The non-profit, co-founded by Barbara Hildebrandt and Jan Forrest, offers a suiting program that provides work apparel and accessories to help clients as they seek employment.

The process is simple. Local referral agencies—non-profit and government agencies, such as shelters, immigration services, job training programs and educational institutions—refer women to Dress for Success. To be considered, participants must have a job interview scheduled or have recently started a new job. Once accepted, Dress for Success works with the client at their Dress for Success Boutique to find appropriate work apparel and accessories. “All of the items we receive to give to our clients—whether it be accessories or clothes— are new, or nearly new professional wear for women that is donated by individuals or companies and sponsors,” says June Zimmer, chair of the board of directors, Dress for Success Regina.

Once the client has the workwear they need from the suiting program, they are invited to join Dress for Success’s Professional Women’s Group (PWG). “Once a month we bring together PWG members to network and reconnect. We offer skills-building seminars and bring in industry experts to speak

Dress for Success Regina is part of a global not-for-profit organization that is in almost 150 cities in twenty-five countries around the world.

Getting involved with Dress for Success is easy.

Volunteers are always eagerly accepted, and there is plenty to do. Volunteers can help sort donations, work with clients to find the right apparel, help with fundraising or assist with promotion and events.

The community is also encouraged to get involved in many ways. Local companies and organizations can organize a clothing drive to donate items, get involved with fundraising, donate money, or become a corporate partner.

It’s beautiful to witness what happens to the human heart when we share words of encouragement to one another. it’s an intentional choice I practice making every day. I’ll often get up each morning and say “Today I release control of changing the past or future and to live in the present where I am safe, where I am loved. If God is for me; who can be against me.”

It’s a wonderful experience sitting in front of my clients when they have self discoveries and eye-opening revelations. I coach from a place of encouragement, love and hope. I’ve seen when the veil of what has been hidden is broken and the spirit of truth, peace and freedom are let in. This is when the heart is filled and a steady flow of divine guidance leads. I just love seeing the positive transformation from when my clients first walk in carrying the world on their shoulders and leave feeling so much lighter. I’ve made feeling lighter my goal to chase and my goal to help others do the same in 2022. with couples or groups is helping them listen with clear understanding rather than listen to provide a response.

It needs to be firmly planted in our mindset that listening and saying I hear you and understand does not mean we have to agree. We need to offer each other the space to share our story without being corrected, controlled, or condemned. I help bring people closer by breaking these old habits, affording everyone the ability to see clearly even when we do not see things the same way.

Spending time asking powerful questions about meaning, purpose and vision—help us to understand our deeper motivation. When we gain self awareness, we achieve a clearer understanding of who we are and the potential of who we can become. Our truths can bring us closer together.

We don’t have to believe in the same things to love each other well. Differences when utilized in the right way will bring unification, and create beauty within the framework of your lives. I believe to form a meaningful connection back to each other we must first connect with ourself.

As humans we like to control things which often leads us into trouble. Control is often fear based and unconsciously it’s our “go to” to protect us from the “what if’s”. Total freedom and peace only come after our decision to let go of the grip we have around the neck of life. For me it came down to choosing Faith or Fear. I had to pick one because I could not operate in both. I had to practice the habit of thinking that All things will work out for good ...

Loving yourself and self acceptance is the gateway to finding love and acceptance in others. It starts there but there can be healing that’s required. Healed people are the ones brave enough to feel the feeling and accept truths. My advantage as I coach is the ability to build that trust so my clients are safe to share. There is no greater honour than being trusted to walk in the hard places and then celebrating the breakthroughs that lead to a successful finish.

In closing I will say the whole emotional tone of a tough situation can be transformed through acts of encouragement. Anxiety in our hearts weigh it down; but an encouraging word makes it glad. If you are reading this today, I encourage you to fill your day with words for yourself and others that will be help build up and not tear down.

Indoor plants are an excellent way to breathe new life into your décor. There’s a plant for every space whether you have the greenest of thumbs or need some practice keeping green things going.

Plus, keeping plants in your home or office can benefit your overall health and wellness. Research has found that spaces with plants have less dust and mold than rooms without plants. Plants act as natural filters to catch allergens and other airborne particles. House plants can also add much-needed moisture to the air, which is excellent during our long, dry winters.

Finally, plants can make you feel good. Studies have shown that indoor plants can make you feel more relaxed and can reduce stress.

So, how can you add some indoor plants to your home? Let's get started.

Succulents and cacti

These days, succulents and cacti are all the rage on Instagram. These low-maintenance plants can add neat geometric patterns to your space. Liven up an entertainment centre with a group of succulents,

and large cacti or a snake plant can add a sculptural feel to the corner of a living room or dining area.

Hot and humid

You can bring a touch of the jungle to bright windows with tall tropicals such as fiddle-leaf fig, jade or areca palm. Plant stands work great for smaller tropicals like aloe vera, croton and gardenia. You can also add hangers for burro tail, boston fern, and spider plant.

Collect ‘em all

Plant collections can also add fresh flair to any room.

There are plenty of shelves, pots and baskets to display foliage. A basic bookshelf can get new life with African violet, philodendron, and Christmas cactus. Everyone seems to have them laying around and if not, they are an inexpensive purchase at a local home or craft store. It doesn’t take much to turn these clear canvases into something unique to you! Gather a few of your favourite crafting essentials like Washi tape, glue, glitter, chalkboard spray paint and chalk markers and you’ll be on our way.

Here are some easy ideas of how to make over your favourite versatile vessels: Shine bright like a diamond. For a simple but stunning arrangement, paint a grouping of mason jars with bold geometric gold stripes or other colourful designs to hold flowers, leaves and pinecones.

Bring the outside in. Kids will love to help create a terrarium in a big mason jar with soil, rocks, and plants.

Use the real thing or you can create a faux arrangement with craft moss, succulents, or plants. Add a woodland creature or two for a touch of whimsy.

Give a gift. With Easter coming, turn your mason jars into spring baskets by painting them green, gluing on beads and glitter for eggs, and fill them with sweet treats for loved ones.

Game day ware storage. Get the gang involved and get creative. Paint your mason jars with acrylic paint to mimic a football field complete with football, uniforms and even a playbook.
