Welcome! MESSAGE FROM THE MANAGER The Library and Museum serves as an important resource center in our community by providing educational materials, programming, and entertainment for patrons. Did you know there are over 35,000 items available for check-out? The staff works hard to engage children and adults in creative challenges, such as the Patron Art Showcase, Makerspace and the After School Craft and Connect. They also encourage an enjoyment of reading with programs such as Family StoryTime and the Back-to-School Reading and Trivia Challenge. On top of all that, Library staff also provides entertainment opportunities with specialty events like the Fall into Winter Author Series and Brown Bag lunch presentations. Our museum is equally impressive, with lots of information about Glenn Miller, the American big band leader. Also on display are Native American artifacts, including a remarkable arrowhead collection. Did you know there are over 39,000 catalogued artifacts in their collection? Museum staff are extremely knowledgeable about the history of Morgan County and are quick to help with research projects and educate patrons. As you can see, these folks have a lot on their plates and we are fortunate to have them. Yet another example of the dedication shown by our fantastic City employees. I encourage you to take a look at the ‘Department Profile’ section of this newsletter to read more in-depth about how each employee contributes to the successful operations of our Library and Museum. As we wind down summer and think about fall, we have begun preparations for events such as the annual employee picnic and the end of year Christmas party. I am excited to get back to having in person celebrations with you all and hope you will be able to attend one or both events. The employee picnic is right around the corner (see the information included in this edition) and the event party planning committee is already hard at work on the Christmas party. More information will be coming soon. I hope you enjoy all the information in this month’s edition of the newsletter.

Steve Glammeyer It is time again for a new edition of the “Message from the Manager” and City Employee Newsletter. I hope you enjoyed last month’s edition and learned a lot about the golf and parks departments. This month, tying into national “Library Card Sign Up” month, we are pleased to showcase the departments and staff from the Library and Museum. I hope you can join me in thanking these dedicated individuals for providing us with a great place to learn and relax.

Steve
