Life can be stressful. Did you know there are foods that can help relieve stress and anxiety?
Fruits and vegetables such as spinach, blueberries, banana and avocado are healthy options to lessen stress. Bananas are high in B vitamins and produce serotonin, which improves mood and reduces anxiety.
Grains like oatmeal are another serotonin booster. Proteins such as cashews, turkey, salmon, and oysters work as well. Oysters, for example, relieve stress due to the large amount of zinc they contain.
Other foods that may ease anxiety include chamomile and dark chocolate. See the infographic on the right to learn about other healthy options!
Thinly slice the kiwis and then, using a tree shaped cookie cutter, cut a tree from each slice. Line a rimmed baking tray with baking paper. Pour the yogurt into the center of the tray and spread evenly. Place the kiwi trees, strawberries and cranberries as desired onto the yogurt. Freeze until completely solid (approx. 4 hours.)

Thank you to Ty for all he does to implement long-range planning of his many departments, and for his oversight of our recreational and community programs!
DEPARTMENT PROFILE
COMMUNITY SERVICES
Ty has been with the City of Fort Morgan for about 9 years, with 4 years as the Head Professional / General Manager at the Quail Dunes Golf Course and about 5 years as Director of Community Services.
He is a life member of the Professional Golf Association and has unfortunately not played golf with Tiger or Phil. Being a member of the PGA is vastly different than being a Tour Professional. As a PGA member, you are educated on a wide variety of topics like Business Administration, Budgeting and Finance, Interpersonal Skills, Supervising and Delegating, Communications, Tournament/Event Operations, Merchandising and Teaching.
After obtaining his Bachelors from Fort Lewis College, he spent 3 additional years studying to obtain his PGA membership. Though he was a skilled golfer, love of the game and lessons it taught his students eventually led him to accept his current Community Services position.
As a believer in lifelong learning, he returned to school to obtain his Certified Public Manager Certificate from CU Denver, and he recently became a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional.
He loves the outdoors, hiking, walking, skiing, off roading, watching sports, fly fishing and (yes) golfing! He enjoys high school sports in Fort Morgan, especially because of the way this community rallies behind and supports our high school teams. Though his kids are grown, he still listens to as many football and baseball games as he can.

Did you know?
FUN FACTS!
The finance department used to claim they were the “Fun Department”, but really the Community Services Department is the “Fun Department!" Everything our hard working staff does each day is about making someone else’s life more enjoyable or better in some way. “Our Work is your Play” is something you hear a lot in the industry, and it is a true statement. Our employees work tirelessly to make sure the community is a great place to work and play, and their dedication to high standard of service is what I am most proud of. They are a great group of people, from the superintendents to the front line workers, they are all amazing and selfless people, who are here to serve. I would encourage everyone who runs into a Parks, Rec, Library, Museum, Golf or Cemetery staff member to please thank them for what they do. They do not hear it enough!
The City of Fort Morgan is considering building a large park and sports complex to the east of the City's new Recreation Fieldhouse. The focus of the park would be a large turf field suitable for outdoor recreation including soccer, flag football and youth sports. Alternate elements that could be included in the design are an outdoor fitness court, sand volleyball courts, lighting, shelter, restrooms, and a walking trail.
Five stars for cleanliness, professionalism, punctuality, quality, and value.
