What makes your business stand out above your competitors? We implement a diverse incursion program to help broaden a child’s horizon. Incursions involve bringing specialised and tailored programs from the outside, to explore a world of culture and learning beyond what they experience day-to-day in an Early Childhood Service. These programs are designed to introduce specific knowledge and skills into the classroom and provide a safe, controlled environment in which a child can learn and play differently. These incursions can introduce children to a world of nature, science, art and craft or music and movement. How do you keep your team motivated? Great Educators are the backbone of my business, and I have been consistently reminded that as a successful business owner, over the last 20 years, that happy Educators make for happier children and happy children means happy families. I am always reflecting on my staffing practises and continually
reinventing these procedures to maintain a passionate team. Our latest initiatives have seen our Educators be granted additional paid time off to celebrate their birthdays, pursue professional projects and offer time away to volunteer for local charities. What’s the best business advice you can give? I think the key to running any successful team and business is to genuinely care for all those involved, by being driven to make good things happen for other people. What plans do you have for 2015? Without wanting to reveal too much, we are looking towards adding our Educators’ health needs to the front of 2015 discussions, along with expansion talks.
