Greetings Sunday Schoolers!

The Spring Quarter Topic: God's Perfect Plan!

God has a perfect plan for every life he creates. Aperfect plan that is uniquely tailored to each individual. However, we all have one thing in common as it relates to CHRIST. JESUS CHRIST died for all of us; yes, for the sins of the whole world. In support of this truth, CHRIST is not willing that any should perish but that ALL should come to repentance (2. Peter 3:9).

As Sunday Schoolers, lets make listening an act of WORSHIP. Isaiah 55:3 tells us to “Incline your ear, and come to Me: hear, and your soul shall live;.” JESUS is God's ONLY provision for sin. As Christians, we must be on high alert, and ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the HOPE that is in you (1. Peter 3:15).

God Bless ALL of you in Jesus name!

Much Love in Jesus Name!

GEAT Leadership Academy

The GEAT Leadership Team provides training for our Leaders multiple times a year to improve and grow our effectiveness as church leaders. Last January 2023, the decision was made to change the Leadership Team meeting frequency to bi-monthly meetings so we could increase the amount of training we provide. The objective is to "Be Intentional about the growth and development of our Leaders" As a result of this new intentional focus on training, we created the GEAT LEADERSHIP ACADEMY. The training under this new format is for everyone and it will be available via our GEAT Facebook page, our Emanuel Broadcast YouTube channel, or in person.

Our first speaker in February was our very own, District Elder Pamela J. Bowers-Mitchell who now pastors 2 churches in FL and CT. As you know, she is the sister and sister-in-law of our very own First Lady, Pastor Trish, and Sr. Pastor Sfg, Bishop Daniel. She is the youngest daughter of our late Apostolic Father, Bishop Paul A. Bowers, and Dr. Elma J. Bowers. Her topic was "Leading Through Adversity". In the times we live in, we cannot afford to quit...We must continue this walk despite the fiery darts and challenges that come to try to stop us. She gave an excellent presentation, teaching us that our adversity is many times what God uses to "bring to the surface something that is within us for the betterment of where you are and/or what you're doing" for Him. We gleaned so much from her testimony of endurance based on the mercies and blessings of God.

Our Speaker for April 8th will be none other than our Presiding Bishop of the P.A.W., Bishop Theodore Brooks. He will be speaking on "The Relevance of the Apostolic Pentecostal Message Today". We are so honored to have such a powerful Speaker and cannot wait to hear this message. So, get ready now by adding the next GEAT Leadership Academy to your calendar on Monday, April 8th at 6 pm. You don't want to miss it.

February 2024

Living in Christ

Unit 3 - Lives Worthy of Christ

February 4, 2024: Minister Renata Jackson; LESSON 10: Spiritual Armor: Ephesians 6:10-24

It is easy to assume that once we are saved that our struggles are over, they have come to an end. While it is true that salvation brings peace with God, in reality, we will still have troubles and the spiritual battles have just begun. While we face a formidable enemy, God has not left us without defenses. We can stand firm against the devil with God’s power, and with His armor upon us. We do not have to depend on our own power or resources to defeat the devil, Paul closes his letter by exhorting the Ephesians to stand firm in the struggle against the forces of evil. Just as the Ephesians are exhorted to stand firm, we too are encouraged to stand firm by putting on the whole armor of God. How? By having our (1) Loins girdled with truth (belt of truth), (2) Breastplate of Righteousness, (3) Feet shod with the Gospel of Peace, (4) The Shield of Faith (a shield would cover the whole person) our faith in God protects/shields us from the attacks of the enemy, (5) The Helmet of Salvation, (6) The Sword of the Spirit which is the word of God (an offensive weapon) (God’s Word is our weapon). Scripture rightly understood and correctly spoken turns back evil, destroys strongholds, and rescues people from darkness. (7) Finally, PRAYER, God’s power is made available to us through the power of PRAYER. Keep the whole ARMOR OF GOD on at all times, it is the only way we will be able to stand against the devil and the forces of evil.

February 11, 2024: Sister Carol Wade; LESSON 11: The Supremacy of Christ: Colossians 1:15-28

The church in Colossae was struggling against false teaching. Paul wrote this epistle in order to refocus the Colossians on Jesus Christ. In chapter one, he reminded them that Christ is the Creator of the world and is worthy of worship. Christ is the head of the church, He is the foundation on which the church is built, Christ is the hope of glory. Our teacher asked us ‘Does Christ have SUPREMACY (preeminence) in your life or is He just a HELPER, helping you live your life?” Christ must have PREEMINENCE is our lives, He must be in complete control of our lives. Lesson outline: 1. Christ, the creator of the world (Colossians 1:15-17); 2. Christ, the head of the church (Colossians 1:18-23); 3. Christ, the hope of glory (Colossians 1:24-28).

February 18, 2024: Minister Pam Jamison-Ruffin; LESSON 12: Complete in Christ: Colossians 2:6-19

We are COMPLETE in Christ Jesus! Lesson outline: 1. Committed to Christ (Colossians 2:6-8); 2. Complete in Christ (Colossians 2:9-15); 3. Content in Christ (Colossians 2:16-19). As Christians we are all looking for the keys to living a victorious life, Paul in the second chapter of Colossians is giving us the keys to spiritual success. Through Christ, we have died to sin and have been raised to new life. He has completely triumphed over al the powers of evil, so He is able to guarantee spiritual victory for those who are in Him. (ref: commentary from the lesson). Since we are in Christ, we must reject apathy, man-made philosophy, legalism and mysticism. We should reject all teaching that suggests that we are not Complete in Christ Jesus. “All of God’s fullness rests in Christ, and Christ is all we need.” Once we have repented and received the gift of salvation, we are complete in Christ, there are no other requirements other than to live a holy and sanctified life according to the Word of God.

February 25, 2024: Sister Deborah Thomas; LESSON 13: A Plea for Christlike Forgiveness: Philemon 1:4-21

The book of Philemon has only one chapter, however, it is a very powerful personal letter that teaches us about forgiveness. Paul wrote this letter to his friend and fellow labor in Christ, Philemon. One of Philemon’s salves, Onesimus, had ran away to Rome, some commentaries suggest that he had stole some things before running away to Rome. While in Rome Onesimus met Paul, and his life was forever changed and transformed by Christ Jesus. Paul sent Onesimus back to his master Philemon, with the letter appealing for mercy, compassion, and forgiveness toward Onesimus. Paul urged Philemon to look past the offences and to forgive and receive Onesimus back as a brother and fellow Christian. Christian love and forgiveness are given prominence in this book and as Christians, we must be willing to forgive others for whatever they do to us, just as Christ has forgiven us.
