GREATER NEWS

A MINISTRY OF GEAT SUNDAY SCHOOL

Spring Quarter 2025

March *April * May

Relax! God is in CONTROL!

Relax, God is in control, no matter the state of the physical world around us. Remember that Jesus is the Light of the World! Let us allow God to guard our hearts and minds, providing us rest and peace as we navigate through these dark and challenging times. God is the Good Shepherd who guides us, even when we are unaware, so we rest assured that He knows what He is doing.

“These things I have spoken to you, that in ME you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

“Lord my God have FULLaccess to every part of my LIFE.”

Blessings in Jesus’Name, Minister WaveneyArthur, Adult Superintendent, Greater EmanuelApostolic Temple, Department of Christian Education

Praise the Lord Sunday Schoolers:

Welcome to the Year of Our Lord 2025, a time of redemption and the opportunity to receive grace upon grace. In 2025, expect God’s abundant blessings and be grateful for the greater opportunities in your relationship with Him as He provides all you need in a life filled with hope, health, and happiness.

Despite the tests and trials, we may face this year, remember to stay focused on what truly matters. God will guide you daily, and He has always provided for His children.

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” Colossians 3:16-17.

Greater Emanuel Sunday School invites you to join us every Sunday, either via Zoom or in person. Our in-person classes are held at Greater Emanuel Apostolic Temple, located at 1150 W. Galbraith Road, Cincinnati, Ohio, in the EJB Hall. We look forward to seeing you!

Choline – What Is It?

You often hear that fish is considered "brain food”. While true, other foods rich in choline a nutrient related to the B vitamins are just as beneficial. Ensuring your diet is high in choline can offer many advantages.

Choline plays a vital role in both fat and glucose metabolism. Although your body produces some choline, it isn't sufficient to meet its essential needs. The Daily Value for Choline is 550 mg, which should come from your diet or supplements.

Greater Recovery Ministry

The Greater Recovery Ministry is an outreach program dedicated to supporting individuals struggling with the psychological, spiritual, and behavioral effects of addiction. Our goal, guided by the love of God, is to help individuals achieve complete deliverance from various types of addictions. We provide encouragement and support throughout the recovery process, believing that Jesus has the power to free you from addictions such as alcohol, drugs, food, gambling, the internet, nicotine, co-dependency, shopping, and more.

The curriculum for the Greater Recovery Ministry is based on the vision of our Senior Pastor, Bishop LaVelton J. Daniel, who seeks for "All Souls" to experience freedom from the "World of Negative Addiction." The program consists of 12 Godly principles that will be discussed weekly in a support group setting, facilitated by trained leaders.

For our youth participants, the curriculum focuses on drug prevention and education. We can schedule a convenient meeting if you or someone you know needs support. Please direct all inquiries to In-House Pastor Evangelist Melvina Pounds at melvinalbs@gmail.com.

30–Day DECLUTTERING Checklist

Let's build our decluttering muscle by tackling easy mini-projects over the course of a month. Each item on the list should take just 5-10 minutes to accomplish so you can fit it into your already busy life. After the 30 Days, your home should feel lighter, things should be easier to find, and most importantly, you'll have built the confidence to tackle the bigger decluttering projects you've been dreading!

30 Day DECLUTTERING Checklist

16 Hit your medicine cabinet; toss anything expired or almost empty

17

Go through your Coat Closet or Rack. Is there room for guest coats? If not, make some by donating or re-homing anything rarely worn

18 Today, it’s your purse or handbag - get in there and root out all the junk!

19

Go through your family games; which ones don’t get played? Time to say goodbye

20 Time to get under your kitchen sink. Eliminate any duplicate cleaning supplies & store rarely used ones somewhere else

21 Pop into the kids’rooms and grab anything they’ve grown out of - if a younger sib can use it, move it; if not, donate

22 Pull out all of yourTupperware, remove anything mismatched or without a lid

23 It’s okay to get rid of your appliance manuals - they are all easily accessible online

24 What crazy one-offs have found their way into your flatware drawer? Get in there and root them out

25 Sock drawer! Say goodbye to onesies and anything with a hole

26

Grab your phone or laptop and research local donation drop-off spots, locations, hours, and processes (prioritize drive-thru!)

27 ou’re ready for your Junk rawer! It’s now re-branded the Useful Things Drawer: it should be the go-to spot for things you need; toss everything else

28 Remove 3 things from your kitchen counter, and make room for them in a cabinet or drawer by letting go of something else you don’t need.

29 Mismatched bed linens can go; gather the sets and donate the rest

30 Donation Day! Load your box(es) in the car and head to the drive-thru!

March 2025

Unit 1: Challenges to the Faith & Unit 2: The Revelation of Jesus

March 2, 2025: Unit 1, Lesson 1: Beware of False Teachers: Jude 1:1-13. Teacher: Minister Pam Ruffin. Where there is truth, there will also be falsehood. Where the genuine exists, counterfeits will inevitably follow. Identifying fakes or imitations can be a challenging task. False prophets can be particularly challenging to recognize, especially when they profess to believe in the same God, serve the same Savior, and read the same Bible as we do. This was a challenge that Jude and other early Christians faced in the first century, and it continues to be a problem today. Jude wrote this epistle to encourage believers to defend the true faith and the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. This week's lesson emphasizes the importance of remaining faithful, especially when false teachers have infiltrated the church. Jude warns us to be vigilant to avoid being misled by their deceptive teachings. We are called to be on guard against false teachers within the church. Review this week’s lesson at the link: GREATER NEWS #99 RUFFIN

March 9, 2025; Unit 1, Lesson 2: Build Up Your Faith: Jude 1:17-25. Teacher: Sister Frances Lowery. This week's lesson continues the focus on the Epistle of Jude, which urges us to strengthen our faith in Christ, especially during difficult times. Jude’s brief but impactful letter calls on believers to defend their faith and remain vigilant against false doctrines. He highlights the importance of mercy, peace, and love in our lives and emphasizes our active role in contending against those who distort the truth. Believers are encouraged to remember the teachings of the apostles and rely on the Holy Spirit for strength. Jude also reminds us to show mercy while being discerning about those who may create division. His letter concludes with a powerful doxology, praising God for keeping us steadfast and blameless. Jude 1:25 states: "To the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen." Review this week’s lesson at the link: GREATER NEWS #100 LOWERY

March 16, 2025: Unit 2: Lesson 3: Jesus is Coming: 2 Peter 3:3-15a: Teacher: Sister Deborah Thomas: This week, we explore our hope as Christians because Jesus is coming back. Peter teaches us about the Second Coming and its promise of salvation. 2 Peter 3:9 reminds us that God is patient, desiring that everyone comes to repentance. Hope can inspire those facing difficult circumstances, like prisoners or cancer patients. We are grateful for Jesus' long-suffering and the hope He gives us. Peter encourages us to stay steadfast, knowing that Jesus will ultimately change everything for those who trust Him. Despite skepticism from others, we hold firm in our faith and eagerly await Christ’s return. Review this week's lesson at the link: GREATER NEWS # 102 THOMAS

March 23, 2025: Unit 2: Lesson 4: Worship Before the Throne: Revelation 4:1-11: Teacher: Deaconess Melanie Moon. In last week’s lesson, we focused on the return of Christ. This week, we explore Revelation, chapter 4. After identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the seven Asian churches in the first three chapters, John hears a voice like a trumpet inviting him to receive a heavenly vision of God on His throne and the slain Lamb, who alone is worthy to open the scroll and execute God’s will. Revelation 4:3 (ESV) describes God as having the appearance of jasper and carnelian, surrounded by a rainbow-like emerald. The scene is beautiful, with twenty-four elders worshiping around the throne. Verse 5 illustrates God’s glory with lightning and thunder, accompanied by seven lamps representing the seven spirits of God. In verses 6-8, John describes a sea of glass and four living creatures lion, ox, man, and eagle each with six wings, proclaiming, “ OL , OL , OL , is the LOR GO ALMIG T !” Revelation 4:9-11 (ESV) highlights that whenever the living creatures give glory to God, the twenty-four elders worship Him and cast their crowns before the throne, declaring, “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.” - Review this week's lesson at the link: GREATER NEWS #101 MOON

March 30, 2025: Unit 2, Lesson 5: Worthy is the Lamb: Revelation 5:1-5, 11-14. Teacher: Sister Sandra Wyatt. This week’s lesson from Revelation, chapter 5, describes John’s vision of a sealed book in the right hand of the One on the throne. An angel asks, “Who is worthy to open the book and its seals?” (v. 2), but no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth is found worthy (v. 3). This makes John weep until the elders reassure him that the “Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of avid, has prevailed” to open the book. This “Lion of Judah” refers to Jesus Christ, the only one worthy to open the scroll. A multitude of angels and elders worship the slain Lamb, declaring Him worthy to receive power, riches, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and blessing. It is crucial for people to recognize the judgment their sins deserve and to seek redemption through Christ so that they may reign with Him. - Review this week's lesson at the link: GREATER NEWS #103 WYATT
