First India Bureau New Delhi: The government has extended coronavirus lockdown till June 30 and has issued new guidelines for phased-reopening of all activities outside containment zones for the next one month. The current phase of re-opening, Unlock 1, will have an economic focus, the government said. Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said that the lockdown measures have been relaxed in a graded manner, keeping the overarching objective of containing the spread of COVID-19 in view. The new fifth phase of lockdown is slated to begin from Monday, June 1. Turn on P6

Religious places and places of worship for public, hotels, restaurants, other hospitality services, and shopping malls will be permitted to open from June 8. Health Ministry will issue SOPs for the above activities, in consultation with the Central ministries/ departments concerned and other stakeholders, for ensuring social distancing and to contain the spread of Covid-19.

Schools, colleges, educational/ training/coaching institutions etc, will open after consultations with States and UTs. State Govts/UTs have been advised to hold consultations at the institution level with parents and other stakeholders. Based on the feedback, a decision on the re-opening of these institutions will be taken in the month of July. MoHFW will prepare SOPs for these institutions.

New Delhi: A Moscow-bound special Air India aircraft had to be called back to Delhi mid-way on Saturday after one of the pilots onboard tested positive for the coronavirus infection. The aircraft is currently undergoing the disinfection process at Delhi airport. “The flight was called back to origin airport Delhi after the pilot tested Covid-19 positive. Currently, the aircraft is under the process of fumigation and disinfectant.” an Air India official told ANI. P6

On Saturday, CM Ashok Gehlot provided a major relief to farmers, industries and household consumers by announcing extension of the ongoing relief in payment of electricity bills in state. On 2nd April, Gehlot had announced relief in payment of bills till 31st May, however, since the term of lockdown has been increased, the sensitive Chief Minister has extended the relief period by another month ie till 30th June 2020. Higher education minister Bhanwar Singh Bhati deposited a cheque of over twenty lakh rupees in the Chief Minister Covid-19 Relief Fund on Saturday. Bhati handed the cheque to CM Gehlot at CMR.
