Jaipur: Wednesday finally brought with it a culmination of the ongoing tussle between the top two constitutional positions in Rajasthan, i.e. Governor Kalraj Mishra and Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, since late in the evening the Governor gave his in-principal assent to calling the state Assembly from August 14.

The development, which rendered excitement and elation in the Gehlot camp, also stamped the moral victory of CM Gehlot.

The development occurred hours after Governor rejected Gehlot’s request for an Assembly session for the third time, citing short notice, after which CM Gehlot, who made untiring efforts to get Governor’s approval, proposed a new date.

Gyms to open, no night curfew from August 5 New Delhi: MHA on Wednesday issued `Unlock 3’ guidelines removing restrictions on the movement of individuals during the night (night curfew) and allowing Yoga institutes and gymnasiums to open from August 5 while schools, metro and cinema halls will continue to remain closed.

The ministry said that lockdown shall continue to be implemented strictly in the containment zones till August 31 and schools, colleges, coaching institutions and cinema halls will remain closed till the end of August. According to the new guidelines, metro rail, cinema halls, swimming pools, entertainment parks, theatres, bars, auditoriums, assembly

halls, social/ political/ sports/ entertainment/ academic/ cultural/ religious functions and other large congregations will continue to remain prohibited.

Dates for the opening of these will be decided separately based on the assessment of the situation, the ministry said in a release.

States and UTs, based on their assessment of the situation, may prohibit certain activities outside the containment zones, or impose such restrictions as deemed necessary.

“Restrictions on the movement of individuals during the night (night curfew) have been removed,” the release said.

New Delhi: The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) is back to being Ministry of Education with the Union Cabinet approving the change in its name on Wednesday.

The name change was among the key recommendations of the draft New Education Policy, which was also cleared in Wednesday’s Cabinet meeting.

The Ministry of Education was renamed as

the HRD ministry in 1985, during the tenure of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. The next year the National Education Policy (NEP) was introduced which was later amended in 1992. PV Narasimha Rao became the first HRD minister in the Rajiv Gandhi Cabinet.

Jaipur: Newly-elected PCC chief Govind Singh Dotasara on Wednesday formally took charge of his post in the presence of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, AICC general secretary and state in-charge Avinash Pande, and AICC spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala.

Former PCC chief Sachin Pilot was absent but he had congratulated Dotasara for his new assignment through a tweet.

Immediately after taking charge, Dotasara said that party organization will fully back up the state government, which will complete its five-year term without any dif-

ficulty. He also said that he is the son of a farmer and will work with the help of all the communities.

CM Ashok Gehlot asked the new PCC chief to convene a session of the state unit.

He also said that people have been asking questions as to why the governor has been blocking the state assembly session. He also said that the government was stable.

Apart from Gehlot, Avinash Pande and Surjewala, ministers, MLAs and party workers were present in the PCC office when Dotasara took charge.

Many in the party claimed that he was chosen for the job for ideological commitment, which he showed as an education minister. He had constantly attacked the RSS and its ideology and the post of PCC chief seen as a reward for that.

There is no doubt that it won’t be an easy job for Dotasara but he is likely to get support and guidance from senior leaders.

What is also interesting is that for the first time, both the BJP and Congress have state presidents from the same community. Who will be successful in getting a bigger pie of their community’s vote bank will be keenly watched.

As of now, 28,309 people have recovered from coronvirus in Rajasthan, out of which 27032 have been discharged. At the same time, 10817 people are undergoing treatment for coronavirus in hospitals. The number of corona positive migrants has reached 7555.

Jaipur: Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra on Wednesday cancelled the customary Independence Day “At Home” programme at Raj Bhavan because of the coronavirus disease outbreak in the state.

The Governor also used pandemic as one of the reasons not to convene the assembly session, despite the Ashok Gehlot-led government’s insistence and three proposals sent to him.

The Raj Bhavan hosts the “At Home” programme on the occasion of the Republic Day and the Independence Day on January 26 and February 15, respectively, every year.

“The Governor has expressed deep concern about the severe Covid-19 outbreak in the state. The rising number of active Covid-19 cases in the state is a worrisome cause,” stated a communiqué from the Raj Bhavan.

It quoted Governor Mishra, who said that when Rajasthan assem-

Raghav had asked the complainant Prahlad for the bribe and the victim had lodged the complaint to the ACB on July 16. ACB first verified the matter and then laid a trap. The accused was caught red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs. 50,000, which was the first installment of the bribe, from Kishangarh.

Police questioned more than half a dozen family members of the accused and also checked their call details. The accused was arrested on basis of his mobile location. Police are also looking for another accused Ajay Thakur, who gave the weapon to Vishnu.

Looking into the concern of parents, schools ensured that students do not miss out on their studies, schools moved classes online, to prevent a loss of a year of their students. Teachers were trained to give classes via their gadgets and check on the maximum attendance of students. It was a completely new form of school for the teachers and the students. It created a panic and discomfort for parents as now they too had to involve themselves with their kids.

Looking into current scenario where still there is no certainty about the situations ahead, the online classes are the only ray of hope to save our child’s academic year and also the health. Besides the regular lessons, the online classes are also giving students a blend of activities like – yoga, dancing, music, painting, craft, no gas cooking etc. The teachers are busy working, planning and developing better online modules so as to cover various aspects of child’s development. And for brain development, children need to receive the right kind of stimulation, which only teachers can provide.

On practical note, losing one academic year of your child is a concern which if not monitored wisely, could make them lack behind. The online classes have made their everyday life systematic keeping them constructive and creative. off late, the government advisories too ask students to go online to reduce disruption. It applies to both categories of students – senior and junior. We should accept that online classes are a necessity today as there is no other alternative to substitute the loss of a year in students life.

Let us all join hands in this pandemic situation to co-operate with each other and handle the situation with ease. Lastly, a little sacrifice for the future of our children can be worth it.

ith the world witnessing a complete U-turn from a fast moving life to life at halt; from hectic schedules to spending time with ourselves; from the freedom to move freely to locking ourselves down at home; from spreading our lively smile to veiling it behind the expressionless mask, all of us have learnt to a certain extent on how to embrace the unwelcome change in our lives. While there are a lot of areas where the covid scenario taught us the lessons we had completely ignored like prioritizing our health, nature and the value of simplicity, there are incidences where we have lost control over the most indispensable needs like regularity in education, socializing with friends and relatives and managing our growth.

The economy of the country is facing de-escalation; the health sector is going through a surmounting pressure everyday and not to forget the student community who is helplessly watching their dreams and aspirations going haywire.

RHB frees encroached land worth `60 crore

After freeing 5000 sq metre land, people-centric projects on cards Shivendra Parmar Jaipur: Rajasthan Housing Board Commissioner Pawan Arora said on Thursday that the RHB has managed to free yet another of its property in Sector 8 of Pratap Nagar area measuring 5000 square meters valued at around Rs 60 crore. The said land was acquired in 1989 by Rajasthan Housing Board, however, over the years, land mafia encroached upon it and even built a teen-shed and boundary wall.

However, on Wednesday the Board demolished the construction, thus effectively removing the encroachment on the property and now the RHB will prepare an action plan for the land. Interestingly, the RHB, as soon as the encroachment was removed, constructed a boundary wall and placed its board too.

RHB removed encroachments from its property in Sector 8 of Pratap Nagar area.

In order to effectively carry out this action, RHB Commissioner made a special request to Commissioner of Jaipur Police to cooperate in removing the encroachment. During the proceedings, along with a large number of Police personnel, a large number of employees of Housing Board were present along with the executive.

“The recent amendment to the RHB Act gave powers to the Board that it could remove the encroachments on its own. Section 51B has been added to the Rajasthan Housing Board Act 1970, which has given powers to the Board to remove encroachment from its property. After the acquisition of land in

Many times during this period, the property was illegally occupied or encroached upon by the trespassers, but the powers to remove them were not in the Housing Board Act,” said Pawan Arora

Hyderabad: Filmmaker SS Rajamouli on Wednesday said he and his family members have tested positive for coronavirus and are currently quarantined at home.

The director, best known for his epic fantasy hit “Baahubali” series, said they got tested after they developed mild fever recently which subsided by itself.

“My family members and I developed a slight fever few days ago. It subsided by itself but we got tested nevertheless. The result has shown a mild COVID positive today. We have home quarantined as prescribed by the doctors (sic)” he said.

In a subsequent tweet, Rajamouli said he and his kin are asymptomatic and “feeling better”. They are, however, following all the precautions and instructions.

“Just waiting to develop antibodies so that we can donate our plasma,” he added.

Vikas Sharma Jaipur: Health Minister Dr Raghu Sharma has made an appeal for plasma donation to win in the war against coronavirus. The Health Minister said that plasma therapy has proved very effective in corona treatment.

Since, there is a need for plasma to treat serious patients; he requested those who have defeated corona to donate plasma.

“In the time of corona pandemic, plasma donation is the biggest act of kindness,” Dr Sharma said. According to the medical experts, any person aged between 18 and 60 years who has turned negative after treatment of 14 days can donate plasma.

No Raj MLAs staying here: Two Manesar hotels to SOG First India Bureau

Jaipur: Two hotels in Manesar have informed Rajasthan SOG, which is probing the alleged horse-trading case that no MLAs were staying on their premises.

“Best Western Resort in Manesar, Gurugram was served a notice on July 23. Hotel administration informed that it is a COVID centre and no MLAs are staying there,” SOG said in a press release. “Similarly, information was sought from the administration of Heritage Village Hotel in Manesar. They also informed that no MLAs are staying there,” SOG said.

Last week, SOG said that its DSP Kamal Singh was stopped by the Haryana Police. It also said that manager of the resort in Manesar was later called to the police naka, where Singh was stopped, and the letter seeking records for investigation was given to him there.

t’s really an emotional thing for me and not easy to talk about my association with Rajmata Gayatri Devi that went back to the early 1980s. She passed away on 29 July 2009, it’s been 11 years but for me the pain and the loss is still the same. I miss her almost every day of my life.

As students of her Maharani Gayatri Devi Girls Public School in Jaipur, the highlight of those days was when this extraordinarily attractive Maharani visited the school in her soft French chiffons.

One left school and went on to other things but somehow the links were never severed and there was always some activity that took us back to school. Several years later I edited her cookbook titled Gourmet’s Gateway that surprised all of us by doing well. The idea of doing a biography

happened during one of our frequent meetings. That gave me an opportunity to meet her on a more regular basis and also all the people who had been in close contact with her. She was quick to anger and equally quick to cool down.

A very old member of her staff recalled the time when she had gone to a hotel in Delhi to drop somebody. The darban, unaware that she was not getting down, opened the car door for her resulting in her hand being painfully

pulled with the door. The poor man received a proper, royal firing. Once home, she kept thinking about the incident and asked her ADC if he thought that the darban was upset about the whole thing. The ADC assured her that the darban must be quite used to it. But she could not get the incident out of her mind and within an hour drove back to the hotel, called the nervous man and apologised to him and explained that she had not meant to shout at him but had lost her temper because her arm had been hurt. The poor man was too embarrassed to

say anything more than “Huzur, what are you doing? Why are you saying sorry? It is all right.”

Her sense of humour and her love to gossip made her seem more humane. She could pull one’s leg so subtly that it took most people a while to realise that they’d been had! One had to know her well enough to see through her jokes.

Once she was invited for dinner.

Among the guests were some nonJaipur people who did not know who she was. The lady asked for an introduction. Without batting an eyelid Rajmata Sahiba said, “Oh I’m a doctor from a nearby hospital and this gentleman here is my assistant. Now, if you’ll excuse us, we have to go for an operation.”

The ‘assistant’ nearly choked on his drink but quickly regained his composure and accompanied the ‘lady doctor’ to assist her in the operation. She can say the most unexpected thing with such a straight face that one doesn’t know if one should laugh or be shocked.

Rajmata put me in a tight spot several times. Once she introduced me to a publisher saying, “Oh, this is Dharmendar and she doesn’t like you. She thinks you’re not an honest person!” The man, who I was meeting for the first time, looked quite confused and suitably hurt. The next few minutes were embarrassing as I tried to extract myself from the awkward situation while Rajmata Sahiba looked on, very pleased with herself and enjoyed every minute of my discomfiture.

What a legend she was! There is so much to share yet there seem to be no suitable words to sum up the amazing grace and charisma of this original embodiment of style.

My enduring memory of Rajmata is of her bold spirit. In 2002 I invited her to be patron of my ‘Keep Amber Clean’ Campaign. I thought it polite to tell her that I was trying to save a 300 year old Bavri; that threats had been made on my life so government had given me armed bodyguards; that over 40 enquiries were looking into me. Rajmata Sa brushed my concerns aside. This display of courage and solidarity meant the world to me.

aapsee Pannu addressed the ongoing feud with Kangana Ranaut in a recent interview. The Thappad star spoke about several incidents, including being name called and being deemed B-grade actress by the Manikarnika actress.

During the interview, Taapsee was asked if she would be open to working with Kangana in the future. She recalled the incident when she had the opportunity to work with Kangana on Saand Ki Aankh, which the former eventually did with Bhumi Pednekar, but said Kangana turned the opportunity down.

Although things did not work out in their favor at the time, Taapsee said she is hopeful things will get better. “I would love to work with brilliant co-stars, I have done so in Pink and Saand Ki Aankh. I am positive of things becoming better,” she said. The actress’s statements come days after Anurag said Kangana was approached with script.
