Along with the enemy across the border, the Indian Army is also working on war footing to fight the extremely harsh winters by building new shelters and prefabricated structures for the soldiers. VIOLENT AGITATION AT DUNGARPUR ENDS

WELL DONE MR CHIEF MINISTER!

Gehlot’s ‘marathon’ efforts to pacify agitators paves way for peace to return to Dungarpur Aditi Nagar Jaipur: In a major late night development, the agitators who had kept Dungarpur and parts of Udaipur district on the boil, ended their violent agitation bringing much needed respite to the local public and administration. The candidates, who had kept

the police and administrative officials on their toes for the past few days, lifted their ‘siege’ from Kankri Doongri area, effectively ending the matter. The ‘breakthrough’ development came after CM Ashok Gehlot directed the officials to open a channel of communication with the agitators to

hold peace talks and hear their grievances. For the purpose, Gehlot had ferried his ‘brigade’ of senior and seasoned IPS officials including DG (Crime) ML Lathar, ADG (ACB) Dinesh MN and Commissioner Jaipur Police Anand Srivastava on Saturday night. Meanwhile, the offi-

cials and agitators held a meeting, attended by local representatives, social organizations and candidates as well, on Sunday at Kherwara which paved the way for peace and normalcy to return to the area. On CM Gehlot’s direction, minister for Tribal Area Development Arjun Bamniya was also present in the meeting and presented the government’s side. Notably, even though officials were on the

ground, it was Gehlot who was taking regular feedback on developments and issuing directions to the officials and political leaders, thus fording the tense situation with ease. Even on Sunday evening Gehlot held meeting on the issue with senior police officials. Political observers believe that the Dungarpur agitation could have snowballed in a major law and order situation with its ripple effects being seen in var-

ious other tribal dominated districts, however the calm and collective leadership in the face of adversity provided by the seasoned three time chief minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot and the trust his words find among the tribals led to the agitation being called off. With normalcy returning to the region, the vehicular traffic will also start to move on the NH8 which the agitators had blocked as a mark of protest.
