With the ongoing Corona crisis, Gehlot has relaxed the rules in providing job on compassionate grounds to next of kin of deceased state employees. Thus far,
Gehlot’s decision has provided semblance to seventy one families who lost their ‘bread-winner, a state employee. As a step in helping these families, Gehlot has made the appointment easier for the applicants by taking decisions on humanitarian grounds in pending cases due reasons such as age limit, late application, post of vacancy in administrative department and want of appointment in other department.

It is noteworthy that the state government has provided a large number of appointments in the cases of dependents of deceased state employees in the last one and a half years. So far, compassionate appointments have been provided to 2208 dependents of deceased state employees in 72 departments. Of these, 749 have been appointed mainly in secondary education, 252 in Medical and Health Department, 177 in Police, 116
in Water Department, 106 in Forest Department, 80 in Animal Husbandry Department, 78 in Public Works Department and 68 in Water Resources Department. In this period, the Chief Minister has sympathetically considered 489 cases wherein owing to difficult situations a government job would not have been possible, however, Gehlot relaxed the norms to accommodate the individuals on compassionate grounds. For example, there is
no provision for the daughter-in-law of an employee to be given job in the father-in-law’s place, however, Gehlot gave his assent in four cases. Furthermore, issues like falling within the minimum and maximum age limits, applying late, not knowing the rules, appointing the second applicant after the appointment order of the first applicant have also been considered and the rules have been relaxed by CM Ashok Gehlot.
