‘For Garib’s Kalyan, raise limit of mandays under MGNREGA’ Naresh Sharma Jaipur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, digitally launched Garib Kalyan Rozgar Abhiyaan, a programme to generate employment opportunities in rural India for migrant workers, on Saturday. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Deputy CM Sachin Pilot were part of the launch of the scheme, which aims at providing employment to migrant workers in 116 districts

of six states, including Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha. Meanwhile, CM Gehlot has written a letter to PM Modi demanding increase in work days under MGNREGA from existing 100 to 200 days. The Garib Kalyan Rozgar scheme will provide employment locally to the migrant workers, who have returned to their native states during lockdown, through creation

The 22 districts identified from Rajasthan are Pali, Udaipur, Jalore, Sirohi, Dungarpur, Banswara, Rajsamand, Chittorgarh, Ajmer, Bhilwara, Jodhpur, barmer, Nagaur, Si-

kar, Alwar, Karauli, Bharatpur, Hanumangarh, Jhunjhunu, Churu and Jaipur. In his endeavour to provide employment to people in the state CM Gehlot wants creation of extra 100 manual days which will benefit 70 lakh rural families. Gehlot asserted that MGNREGA will not only provide employment to the needy and backward class of the society but also act as a catalyst for rural economy.

State government has issued job cards to the migrant workers who have returned from various states. CM Gehlot has stated that as of now the state employs more than 50 lakh workers in MGNREGA. In his letter CM pointed out that most workers will complete their eligibility of 100 days during next month so the increase in days will benefit them in ongoing difficult times. Turn on P6
