t will be yet another ‘feather in the hat’ moment for Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday when in the evening the two Congress candidates for Rajya Sabha from state—KC Venugopal and Neeraj Dangi—will receive their electoral letter. The win would have marked Gehlot’s resolve to bring out the party from any crisis and to do his political opponents ‘one better’. Whether it was silencing the dissident voices within the party and bringing them ‘on track’, or foiling BJP’s attempt at ‘poaching’ Congress MLAs, or to revive the feeling of oneness in the legislative party, or to bring the Independents, BTP and CPM legislators in his fold, at every step Gehlot has led from the front and as a result the party has 125 votes in its favour going ahead in the election where it needs only 102 to make its two candidates win. Prior to 2018 Assembly elections, Gehlot had said, “Main thansu door koni” ( I am not far from you), however a more appropriate version would be—Yo Jeet Su Door Koni —He is never far from victory!
