First India Bureau Jaipur: The wait of Metro train in the walled city of Jaipur is going to end as the chief minister Ashok Gehlot will inaugurate ChandpoleBadi Chaupar metro rail line on September 23. The inauguration of Metro Phase 1B will be virtual during which the UDH minister Shanti Dhariwal will also be present. After the inauguration, the train will leave the Badi Chaupar station for Mansarovar station.

The exam for the admission to four year BA, B Ed/BSC will be held at 690 centres from 9 am to 12 am while the exam for two year B Ed course will be conducted at

Jaipur: Targeting the Congress government in Rajasthan over the rising number of coronavirus positive cases in the state, deputy leader of opposition Rajendra Rathore has demanded from the government to impose a complete lockdown for 15 days.

He suggested lockdown on Saturdays and Sundays after the complete lockdown of 15 days so that the spread of the virus could be contained.

Rathore tweeted with his three demands, saying that there should be no condition of doctor’s slip for corona testing and it should be made available to all, a complete lockdown should be imposed for 15 days to stop the pandemic spread and after that, precautionary lockdown should be imposed on Saturdays and Sundays.

Court issues notices to RBI, banks in fraud case of `15L First India Bureau Jodhpur: High Court issued notices to RBI and others, in a banking fraud using the IMPS system. Petitioner Arshay Agarwal pleaded that, he was asked to transfer Rs 15 lakh to an account in lieu of allotment of dealership of ayurvedic medicines by a person, which he promptly transferred to the account of the ayurvedic medicine company using IMPS facility.

When he didn’t get the said dealership, he came to know that, the said account didn’t belong to any ayurvedic company.

Petitioner complained of the fraud to the Banking Ombudsman, and had now moved to the HC.

The counsel for the petitioner advocate Abhimanyu Singh told the court that his client had filled the name of the ayurveda company as beneficiary while transferring the money and the bank should have tallied the account number and the beneficiary name before executing the transfer of funds.

stopped the transaction if it found any discrepancy in the name of the account holder, and the account number filled in. He said that it was the duty of the bank to monitor and inform of suspicious bank accounts under the Anti Money laundering Act. HC seeks reply from RU, UGC, state govt on alternative way to write exams First India Bureau

Jaipur: Rajasthan High Court has asked the Rajasthan University and UGC to file replies in the case of post graduate and final year under graduate exams, to be held through paper and pen method or

in an alternate way.

Petitioner Pankaj Kumar Yadav has pleaded through his counsel that, due to rising cases of Covid-19, the exams should be cancelled to keep the students safe from the infection.

that, most students had gone back to their native places, and many of them hail from other states, and it wasn’t easily possible for them to come and appear for the exams in the existing situation.

He said that UGC had instructed to not hold

exams in a traditional manner, and if the exams can’t be deferred then online or some other option should be adopted for it.

The court deferred the hearing till Wednesday and sought replies from RU, UGC and state government.

Salman Khan summoned by Jodh court on September 28 Jodhpur: District and sessions court of Jodhpur has summoned film actor Salman Khan on September 28 in black buck poaching and arms act case.

he Union Home Ministry has chosen to borrow a term from US President Donald Trump’s vocabulary---fake news---which, it said, triggered the exodus of migrants from the midnight of March 25 when Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a threeweek country-wide lockdown. Movement of over one billion people was restricted. Before the lockdown there was a 14-hour public curfew. By holding fake news responsible for the crisis faced by the migrants, the government absolved itself from the charge of being apathetic towards the poor and for not giving ample thought to the problems the migrant workers would face because of the sudden announcement.

With all economic and commercial activities coming to a standstill for three weeks and movement of trains and buses halted, people found themselves stranded without income, shelter and food. The worst-hit were the migrants who risked lives to reach their villages and bore the painful blows of policemen’s lathis.

Replying to an unstarred question in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai was quoted as saying that the panic was created by fake news about the duration of lockdown and the unplanned lockdown had nothing to do with.

The government which started worrying about the migrants after a hue and cry in the media now says that it has no record of the number of migrants who died during the lockdown and hence won’t be paying any compensation. Nothing could be more callous on the part of the government which rattled off data on Shramik special trains. The response naturally drew condemnation from the Opposition.

by Twitterati. Jaya Bachchan’s comments came in response to the BJP MP Ravi Kishan’s allegation in the Lok Sabha that drug addiction is prevalent in the film industry. Without naming Rhea Chakraborty he said, “Several people have been apprehended, NCB is doing very good work…” He urged the Central government to “take strict action against the culprits”.

Rebutting Ravi Kishan’s claim Jaya Bachchan said that the film industry was being “flogged by social media and the government’s non-support”.

Hitting out at Kishan, Bachchan said, “Just because of a few people, you cannot tarnish the whole industry. I was really embarrassed and ashamed that yesterday one of our members, who is from the industry, spoke against the film industry.”

Within no time Kangana Ranaut responded with a below the belt response dragging Bachchan’s son and daughter into the controversy proving that she doesn’t respect one’s age or position. Kangana is on a political high, so why should she bother about reputations? An army of trolls began criticising Bachchan with unseemly tweets soon after Kangana’s stinging response.

The film industry is clearly witnessing a division on the issue of nepotism and drug abuse though it is Jaya Bachchan who mustered courage to speak up. She found support from Hema Malini who shared her views in an interview to a TV channel in defence of the film industry and its reputation.

From the earliest times, men and women have built shelters and homes, workplaces, roads, railways, airports and modes of transport, schools and colleges, palaces and forts, shops, and markets, auditoriums and theatres: but nothing is complete, even after foolproof construction, without aesthetics and decorations, objects of beauty and the sounds of music and the rivetting steps of dancing. We are well aware that along with science and technology, the paintings, decorations raise even the most ordinary utilitarian items to those of charm and joy. A painted lattu is as thrilling an item for a young child as a car or vehicle toy which moves electronically or even mechanically.

Art and culture is our treasure and power for the well being and development of the individual and society. As different communities, societies, nations, countries and the people initiated varied forms of music, dance, painting, architecture, sculpture over the centuries, the world today is extremely rich in this heritage. Its protection and continuation become a challenge as there is almost infinite variety and space and time and the systems required for it cannot be calculated. Yet when we lose some of the art due to the passage of time it feels sad and there is a feeling of remorse and helplessness. Hence it is important for any generation to understand and take forward what has come to them from their parents, grandparents, and ancestors who have lived before us.

So how can this be done even

as we often race against time for other activities essential for our survival and growth? In the first place, we need to realise that we do not need to reinvent the wheel, as already there are a large number of schools, colleges, universities, and institutions specially devoted to different arts and crafts who are carrying on this mission.

Moreover today with recordings and electronic and digital capturing of performances, it is easier to store this kind of rich talent. It is not that all institutions are of the same level and quality, yet with sharing of knowledge the performances have reached a wider audience than ever before. Thus one of the best ways to retain the finest of our art is to continue the improvement of these institutions and build new ones where required, especially ensuring that their location is as spread out as possible and not concentrated in a few cities or towns.

In modern times people and more so students are often in a hurry and a rush to learn and perform, thereby missing out important aspects of art and not reaching higher levels. The transfer of knowledge remains unfulfilled. No doubt when people’s livelihoods are involved it is difficult to be patient but as drawings and

hroughout antiquity, from the Mediterranean to Egypt and today’s Middle East, people believed that misfortune, including accidents, diseases, and sometimes even death, were caused by external forces.

Be they gods or other types of supernatural forces (such as a daimon), people — regardless of faith — sought magical means of protection against them.

While medicine and science were not absent in antiquity, they competed with entrenched systems of magic and the widespread recourse to it. People consulted professional magicians and also practised their own forms of folk magic.

Possibly derived from the Latin word “amoliri”, meaning “to drive away” or “to avert”, amulets were

believed to possess inherent magical qualities.

These qualities could be naturally intrinsic (such as the properties of a particular stone) or imbued artificially with the assistance of a spell.

Not surprisingly the use of amulets was an integral part of life. From jewellery and embellishments on buildings, to papyri inscribed with spells, and even garden ornaments, they were deemed effective forms of protection.

Amulets have been around for thousands of years. Amber pendants from Denmark’s Mesolithic age (10,000-8,000 BC) seem to have been worn as a form of generic protection.

Jewellery and ornaments referencing the figure of the scarab beetle were also popular all-purpose amulets in Egypt, dating from the beginning of the Middle

Kingdom (2000 BC).

Two of the most common symbols of protection are the eye and the phallus. One or both amulet designs appear in many contexts, providing protection of the body (in the form of jewellery), a building (as plaques on exterior walls), a tomb (as an inscribed motif), and even a

baby’s crib (as a mobile or crib ornament).

In Greece and the Middle East, for example, the evil eye has a history stretching back thousands of years.

Today the image adorns the streets, buildings and even trees of villages.

The magic behind the evil eye is based on the belief that malevolence can

be directed towards an individual through a nasty glare. Accordingly, a “fake” eye, or evil eye, absorbs the malicious intention in place of the target’s eye.

In the context of “magical thinking”, amulets may be dismissed by critical thinkers of all persuasions, but they remain in use throughout the world.

Often combined with science and common sense, but not always, amulets have made a resurgence during the COVID-19 pandemic. The amulets are equally as diverse, coming in all shapes and sizes, and promoted by politicians, religious leaders and social influencers.

A traditional form of adornment and protection in Javanese culture, now popular with tourists, “burnt root” bracelets, known as “akar bahar”, have been sold by community shamans. Indonesia’s Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo, meanwhile, has promoted an aromatherapy necklace containing a eucalyptus potion touted as a preventative against COVID (useless in terms of science but perhaps less dangerous than hydroxychloroquine).

Without taking names, Jaya Bachchan said she completely disagrees with those who called entertainment industry a ‘gutter’ New Delhi: Veteran actor and RS MP Jaya Bachchan charged that film industry was being defamed by those from the industry indulging in it, saying they are biting the hands that feed them.

Though Bachchan did not take any names, her remarks come a day after BJP’s LS MP and Bhojpuri actor Ravi Kishan said there was problem of drug addiction in the film industry and also actor Kangana Ranaut’s recent remarks calling Bollywood a ‘gutter.’

Through a Zero Hour mention in RS, Bachchan said the entertainment industry was being flogged by social media and asked the government to protect and support it.

“People who have made a name in this industry have called it a gutter. I completely disagree and I really disassociate,” she said.

“Government should support entertainment industry,” she said.

Jaya had condemned comments made by Kangana, where she’d compared the film industry to a ‘gutter’. In response, Kangana tweeted, “Jaya ji would you say the same thing if in my place it was your daughter Shweta beaten, drugged and molested as a teenage, would you say the same thing if Abhieshek complained about bullying and harassment constantly and found hanging one day? New Delhi: The Upper House of the Parliament, Rajya Sabha, passed the Aircraft (Amendment) Bill 2020, which was tabled by Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, after an hour-long discussion.

The Bill had already been cleared by the Lok Sabha in March this year.

The Aircraft (Amendment) Bill 2020 seeks to convert aviation agencies like the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Bureau of Civil aviation security (BCAS) and Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) into statutory bodies.

Under the new Act (after its implementation), any violation will attract heavy punishment. —ANI

Islamabad: Pakistan’s parliament has extended by four months an ordinance that enables Indian death row prisoner Kulbhushan Jadhav to appeal his conviction in a HC, in accordance with a ruling of International Court of Justice.

The ICJ Ordinance, issued in May, was set to expire on September 17.

It allows Jadhav, sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court over alleged espionage, to file an appeal against his conviction in the Islamabad HC. In August, court had directed government to inform India to appoint a lawyer for former Indian Navy officer in order to file a review petition. The court on September 3 heard the case & directed the government to give India ‘another opportunity’ to appoint a lawyer to represent Jadhav. The case will now be heard in October. —Agencies

New Delhi: India’s COVID-19 count crossed the 49-lakh mark on Tuesday with the addition of 83,809 new infections.

Total confirmed COVID-19 cases in India have risen to 49,30,236, according to the latest update by from the Union Health Ministry. This number includes cases involving foreign nationals, patients who have recovered and the death toll. The death toll in India due to the novel coronavirus pandemic has risen to 80,776, the Union Health Ministry said. Maharashtra continues to contribute a high number. In last 24 hours, it has reported 17,066 new cases, taking the tally to 10,77,374.

The reported active COVID-19 cases in India stand at 9,90,061.As many as 38,59,399 patients have been cured so far. The overall number of global coronavirus cases has surpassed the 29.1 million mark.

ACTORS SIGN OPEN LETTER TO NEWS MEDIA AGAINST WITCH-HUNT

Mumbai: Over 2,500 individuals and 60 organisations, including Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Zoya Akhtar, Gauri Shine, Anurag Kashyap and Aditi Mittal, have signed in an open letter to the Indian news media against the media trial and “witch-hunt” of actor Rhea Chakraborty, who is in the centre of the investigations in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case and is now is jail in a drugs case.

The frenzied coverage of the case against Chakraborty, 28, and mobbing of the actor and her family by sections of the media have been widely criticised by Bollywood personalities and a large section of social media users.

The letter, addressed to the “news media of India”, begins with a question: “We, are worried about you. Are you feeling ok?”

“We know you can be different - because we have seen you be kind and respectful

to the Salman Khans and Sanjay Dutts of this world, urging us to

think of their families, fans and careers. But, when it comes to a young woman

who has not even been proven to commit any crime, you have a s s a s s i n at e d her character, egged an online mob on demonise her and her f a m i l y, fuelled wrongful demands and called her arrest your victory,” the open letter states.

Images of Rhea pushed and shoved by media crews, with no regard for social distancing, have drawn widespread condemnation.

The signatories of the open letter said the news media chose to “endlessly violate her privacy and work overtime on false accusations and moralistic innuendo for a drama of ‘Rhea ko phasao’”.

Kangana seeks damages worth `2 crore from BMC Mumbai: Actor Kangana Ranaut has amended her petition before the Bombay High Court to seek a compensation of Rs 2 crore from the BMC for “illegal” demolition at her bungalow.

After the BMC demolished what it termed as illegal alterations at the “Queen” actor’s bungalow at Pali Hill in suburban Bandra on September 9, Ranaut moved HC. A division bench led by Justice SJ Kathawalla had stayed the demolition, saying that the civic body’s actions seemed “malafide” (having dubious intentions).

In her amended

plea, Ranaut alleged that the BMC’s decision to demolish her property was a direct consequence of her comments against the Maharashtra government.

The petition also contended that the Bollywood actor had sought the BMC’s permission to carry out structural repairs at her bungalow, and the same was granted in 2018.

The plea urged the court to declare the BMC’s action as illegal and direct the civic body and its “concerned officials” to pay her Rs 2 crore in damages.

The court is slated to hear the matter on September 22.

Jaipur: A woman killed self and her three daughters by jumping along with then into a well in Roopwas area of Rajasthan’s Bhartpur district on Tuesday.

The tragic incident occurred in Khansurjapur village on Tuesday where Sharda Devi (24) along with her daughters Trisha (6), Apoorva (3) and Avinash (1) jumped into the well in an agricul-

ture farm located at a distance of nearly oneand-a-half kilometre from her house.

The locals rushed to rescue the mother and daughters but all of them died before they could be saved.

The bodies were recovered later and shifted to hospital for postmortem, SHO of Roopwas police station Hukum Singh Shekhawat said. He said reasons for such a drastic step are not clear and the matter is being probed.

RSMET constituted under chairmanship of Mines Min First India News Jaipur: The Rajasthan government has formed the Rajasthan State Mineral Exploration Trust (RSMET) for effective execution and monitoring of mineral exploration, use of modern technology in exploration and to enhance revenue.

In next 4 yrs, 2000 new GSS will be formed: CM First India News Jaipur: Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has instructed to set up 2000 new Village Service Cooperative Societies (GSS) in the next 4 years in order to comply with the public manifesto for forming village service cooperatives in all gram panchayats of the state.

With reach of cooperative institutions from village to village, farmers will be able to avail crop loans and take benefit of availability of fertilizer and seeds.

Gehlot held a review of the Cooperative Department during a group-wise meeting of various departments related to agriculture through VC from CMR on Tuesday.

He directed officials to make the process of formation of GSS

more accessible and quick for the farmers.

He directed to extensively set up Custom Hiring Centers being set up under the Agricultural Mechanization Scheme of the Government of India, so that agricultural machinery used in all crop cycles can be easily available on rent. He said that more and more GSS and purchase-sale cooperative societies (KVSS) should be linked with custom hiring centers.

Gehlot also instructed to open a large number of procurement centers for purchase on MSP of wheat in the state. The Chief Minister also instructed to make proposals to hand over the godowns constructed under MGNREGA to local GSS and KVSS for storage of manure,

seeds or farm produce in the event of not being used by the concerned Panchayats.

It was decided in the meeting to hold elections for the new executive of such cooperative institutions whose tenure has been completed. CM said that in view of Corona epidemic and other circumstances, the time of these elections should be fixed and the election process should be completed.

Gehlot expressed serious concern over the cheating and fraud activities carried out by housing cooperative societies in Jaipur and elsewhere by issuing double leases to common people. He directed the officers to take effective action in coordination.

HALF A MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION: HOW TO GET RID OF HELICOPTER? Kartikey Dev Singh Jaipur: It seems that even the ‘mighty’ Rajasthan bureaucracy has failed to provide an answer to the questions haunting the future of the Augusta helicopter actually ‘decaying’ away. While, the government wants to get rid of this helicopter as soon as possible, however, no one is ready to buy the machine even at throwaway prices.

In 2006, the state government bought the much talked-about Augusta helicopter (A-

109E) for 20 crores. But during the previous tenure of Ashok Gehlot, while flying to Churu, there was a sudden malfunction in this aircraft. Therefore, as an emergency landing measure, the helicopter had to be landed on an agricultural farm. Later, the helicopter was loaded into a truck and brought to Jaipur and since then it stands as a ‘junk’ at the state hangar.

Over the years, the state government tried several times to get rid

of this junk helicopter, but success could not be achieved. International tenders were first issued for selling it for 12.40 crore but no buyers showed inter-

est in it.

Last month, its value was reduced to Rs 4.5 crore and the bid date was set as 4 September.

But no one showed any interest even on this

date. Interestingly, over the past nine years, it is said that three lakh rupees annually are being spent on the maintenance of the machine but in truth not a single penny is being spent on its maintenance.

While the government is unable to understand how to get rid of it as even the Scrap Corporation has also raised its hands, the officials are not left with much choice than to start a fresh bid for the sale process, with little hope that their prayers would be answered.

According to a highly reliable input, the main reason for the failure of the meeting is Maken and Pilot’s all together ‘different views’ on the functioning of Gehlot government, where Maken, like Avinash Pande, has also

emerged as the principal spokesperson of a performing and meritorious CM Gehlot in front of the Congress high command. Only three days back, after having a detailed review of Corona situation in the state, Maken had publicly rated Gehlot as the best all India Corona performer.

But at the same time, Pilot has his own philosophy and views on the performance of the present government in the state.

hadwick Boseman was buried near his South Carolina hometown 6 days after he died at his home in Los Angeles, according to a death certificate obtained Monday

by The Associated Press.

The Black Panther star was laid to rest on September 3 at Welfare Baptist Church Cemetery in Belton, South Carolina, about 11 miles from Boseman’s hometown of Anderson, the Los Angeles County Certificate showed.

Chadwick Boseman died at his home near Griffith Park in Los Angeles on August 28, the record said.

The immediate cause was listed as multiple organ failure, with the underlying cause of colon cancer, which his family said previously that he had been diagnosed with four years earlier.

Chadwick Boseman had surgery to remove the colon cancer in 2016 after his diagnosis, and in March of this year had laparoscopic surgery to remove cancer that had metastasized, the record showed. —Agency
