RAJYA SABHA POLL DRAMA
First Phase over: Gehlot emerges as a clear winner! Second Phase after June 19: Still under wraps! Aditi Nagar/ Kartikey Dev Singh Jaipur: The ultimate news of the day is that by now curtains have been drawn on a week long Rajya Sabha political drama in Rajasthan with a few far reaching political implications. The ultimate winner is Gehlot with two Rajya Sabha seats in his pocket. The first outcome of this entire exercise is that in no circumstances Sachin Pilot will be joining BJP. BJP’s initial plan to pull down Gehlot government under the pretext of Rajya Sabha polls, with a tactical support of Pilot camp’s 30 MLAs has finally blown out because of
two factors i.e, Pilot refuses to join the Saffron party and his camp fails to provide the required strength of 25-30 Congress MLAs to BJP’s fold. With this impression all curiosities about the political future of Pilot in Rajasthan comes to an end. But according to Satish Poonia, nothing is final and anything may happen at anytime in the world of cricket, films and politics. So, lets see! The second outcome is that by still remaining in the Gehlot government, Pilot will continue to fight for his ‘lost’ (?) authority and status as the Deputy Chief Minister and will al-
ways be asserting on certain issues, mostly related to his departments, in the Cabinet meetings with an active support of his camp ministers. The third outcome according to Pilot camp sources, is that if at

Two officials of Indian High Commission Islamabad/New Delhi: Two officials of Indian High Commission in Pakistan, who went missing and were reportedly arrested earlier on Monday, have been released and are back at the Indian mission, sources said on Monday. India had earlier in the day summoned Pakistan’s Charge d’affaires Syed Haider Shah and issued a demarche over the reported arrest of two officials in Islamabad. The sources said the demarche made it clear that there should be no interrogation or harassment of the Indian officials and the responsibility for the safety and security of the concerned diplomatic personnel lay squarely with the Paki-

supporters are ‘hopeful’ of a likely BJP support from outside. But at this point there is a major roadblock for Pilot! According to highly placed BJP sources, even if an opportunity to form government knocks on

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah took over the charge of Delhi’s Covid management at a time when the national capital’s tally of coronavirus infections has touched 42,829 and the number of deaths due to the disease has climbed to 1,400. All political parties in Delhi should forget their differences and
join hands in the COVID-19 battle of the national capital, Shah said on Monday after chairing an all-party meet. Leaders of the BJP, the Aam Aadmi Party, the Congress and the BSP attended the meeting. Shah appealed to the four parties to ask their workers to help in ensuring the ground implementation of the Delhi government’s coronavirus guidelines. These steps will en-

The fourth outcome is that there is an extremely remote possibility of a Gehlot-Pilot ‘patch-up’ in the present form of ‘distribution of power and authority’ between the two. According to sources close to Pilot, the ‘main pain and disappointment’ in Pilot’s mind is that he has been completely ignored or rather humiliated during the last one-and-a-half year of the functioning of Gehlot government but in this context, Gehlot camp says that after failing to get the Turn on P8
‘India-Nepal bound Total lockdown in 4 dists by roti and beti’ of Tamil Nadu till June 30 New Delhi: Rejecting Nepal’s territorial claim, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh asserted on Monday that the Lipulekh-Dharchula road falls very much in India and conveyed the Modi government’s willingness to sort out the “misunderstanding” with the neighbouring country through dialogue. Singh stressed on the centuriesold ties between the two counties, not-
ing that they were not only social, geographical, historical and cultural but also spiritual. India can never forget this reality and Indians can never have any bitterness towards Nepal, the defence minister added. “Our relations are not only of this world, but also of the ‘other world’ and they cannot be changed even if someone wishes so,” he said at Turn on P6
Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has been advised on scaling down lockdown relaxations and preventing the further spread of coronavirus, a member of an expert committee said here on Monday following a consultative meeting with Chief Minister K Palaniswami. position from BJP. And thus, there is no question of BJP giving support to an outsider like Pilot. But according to political observers, the political situation and ground realities in Rajasthan are not ‘appropriate’ at the moment to ‘create or cope with’ such a situation. As usual, this time also Gehlot is in complete command and control of the situation and there is not even a remote possibility of dislodging him for the remaining period of his five-year tenure. The alerts have been issued on the basis of inputs received from Interpol -- the international criminal police organisation that facilitates worldwide police
