POLITICAL MAPPING: NEPAL PM reviews Corona fight PARL ALTERS BOUNDARIES as highest spike reported India controls Lipulekh, Kalapani, Limpiyadhura and its maps show the area as part of its territory which is contested by Nepal Kathmandu: Nepal’s lower house of Parliament on Saturday passed an amendment to include a new map incorporating Indian areas of Kalapani, Lipulekh and Limpiyadhura in the Constitution of the country. Nepal’s House of Representatives had on June 10 endorsed a proposal seeking consideration of a constitution amendment bill for change of country’s map after a lengthy discussion. Nepal has made offers to India to hold “diplomatic talks to resolve the territorial issue” between the two countries. India has said earlier this week that has made
INDIA REJECTS NEW MAP, SAYS NOT TENABLE its position clear on these issues and deeply values its civilisation, cultural and friendly relations with Nepal. After Nepal released a new political map last month showing areas like Lipulekh and Kalapani as its territory, India said such artificial enlargement of territorial claims will not be acceptable to it and noted that the “unilateral act is not based on historical facts and evidence”. —ANI
New Delhi: India said on Saturday said that it had noted Nepal’s House of Representatives passing a constitution amendment bill for changing map of Nepal to include parts of Indian territory and the artificial enlargement of claims “is not based on historical fact” and is not tenable. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Anurag Srivastava also said that the move is violative of the current understanding to hold talks on outstanding boundary issues. He was answering a query about Nepal’s lower house of Parliament on Saturday passing an amendment to include a new map incorporating Indian areas of Kalapani, Lipulekh and Limpiyadhura in the Constitution of the country. Srivastava said the government has already made its position clear in the matter. “We have noted that the House of Representatives of Nepal has passed a constitution amendment bill for changing the map of Nepal to include parts of Indian territory. We have already made our position clear on this matter,” the spokesperson said. Turn on P6

A PMO release said that it was observed that out of the total cases, two-thirds are in five states with an overwhelming proportion of cases in big cities. “In view of the challenges being faced, particularly by the large cities, it was discussed
to augment testing as well as the number of beds and services to effectively handle the peak surge of daily cases,” the release said. A ‘RELAXED’ GEHLOT SPENDS THE DAY AT MARRIOTT! AFTER THE DRILL, CM EMERGES STRONGER Aditi Nagar Jaipur: After a hectic lobbying among Congress, independent, BSP, BTP and CPM MLAs for the last couple of days, Saturday was a comparatively relaxed day for a 24/7
politician and a third time Congress Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot at Delhi road (Kukas) JW Marriott hotel, where he had shifted on Friday evening to have some brain storming sessions with the visiting leaders ie KC Venugopal, Avinash Pande, Randeep Surjewala and others and also to have a first hand feedback from the MLAs. There was sense of a
‘complete satisfaction’ on the face of Gehlot after his historically successful Friday press conference and a ‘solidarity show’ of the entire Congress party, including Sachin Pilot, under Gehlot’s leadership. This has sent a strong message amongst some ‘fence sitters’ MLAs that Gehlot still continues to be the tallest leader and no power, in Jaipur or Delhi, can oust him.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot blessed MLA Rajkumar Sharma on Saturday, when the ‘young’ leader sought audience with Gehlot. As Gehlot put his hand on Sharma’s head, Rajkumar said, “May I continue to receive your blessings always.” Rajkumar had left BSP and joined Congress years back on CM Gehlot’s direction. Later Sharma said that Gehlot is like his father and a teacher.
In fact, Gehlot has further fortified and consolidated his position and clout in front of all central leaders at Marriott Hotel, who had ‘carefully noticed’ that virtually there is no alternative to Gehlot in Rajasthan in any circumstances and a Gandhi family loyalist Chief Minister commands a complete control and respect among the legislators, irrespective of
their party loyalties. Interestingly, late on Saturday evening, Gehlot held meeting with the thirteen independent MLAs who put forward their issues regarding their constituency. Prior to this, indepenent MLA Sanyam Lodha, known to be close to Gehlot, had chaired ameeting with the independents, followed by Avinash Pande and then towards the night, by CM Gehlot.
