Modi’s `20 lakh cr package another moral victory for Gehlot Containing virus spread in rural areas after migrants return a big challenge: Gehlot Assembly Speaker Dr CP Joshi lauds Gehlot’s efforts in War on Corona Naresh Sharma Jaipur: Tuesday evening brought with it yet another moral victory for a stalwart leader of Rajasthan. The leader, who has been praised even by PM Narendra Modi, had been voicing concerns about a special stimu-
lus package to jumpstart the economy and finally, Modi has heard the suggestions provided by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. Since the day lockdown was called into effect to fend off Corona, a concerned Gehlot had been reiterating the need for a special pack-

age for states and also for businesses, farmers and workers in addition
to health sector, through the five video conferences between Gehlot
and Modi and through his several official letters to the Prime Minis-
ter. Modi’s announcement of twenty lakh crore rupee package is thus a resounding moral victory for the three time chief minister of the desert state. During the day, Gehlot held yet another video conference with MPs and MLAs of Jaipur and Ajmer divisions to seek suggestions regarding fight with Corona. Preventing the spread of the coronavirus in rural areas following the return of lakhs of migrants will be the next big challenge for the state gov-
ernment, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said Tuesday. “Nearly 19 lakh migrants have registered to return home. Of them, 4-5 lakh want to go out of Rajasthan to various other states,” he said. Calling on the lawmakers to make sure migrants are welcomed, he said they will have to be quarantined after their return to ensure the virus does not spread to villages. “Quarantine will be our top agenda to protect the villages from infection
of Corona. In this, along with the district administration, the people’s representatives, especially the legislators, will play a big role. They should take this as a challenge and fulfill the responsibility of keeping our state safe,” he stressed. Interestingly, in the last 48 hours, Gehlot has spent 21 of them lending an ear to the suggestions and feedbacks of the public representatives, almost forty four percent of his time in the past two days.
